Douglasville, Georgia – September 12, 2016 Omega will begin shipping its long awaited Linkr-M1 Mobile Smartphone Control Platform the week of September 26th.

At Omega, Linkr is seen as the most versatile Smart Phone APP & Telematics hardware platform available. It was built as a Global platform, which currently supports six languages, has a built-in back-up lithium battery, and is a fully Configurable & Scalable. It is manufactured with name brand cellular components, and is certified by American & International cellular carriers. The APP is available for both ios & Android. Also, with Linkr, all plans including the low cost  "Lite-User" plan are fully featured including full GPS Tracking services (Location, 2 Geo-fences, a Security-Fence, Speed Alert, etc).

Linkr is also equipped with three analog outputs and three analog inputs. The three outputs can be configured to match needs. The APP SKIN will then reflect the output selections, only displaying the control buttons for the functions the user will actually be controlling.

The three inputs can be used for a Panic Button, and to monitor both Positive & Negative polarity alarm sirens. If Linkr detects a siren come on, it will report an Alarm Trigger to the APP. Linkr will also monitor the vehicle battery level, and report low voltage conditions to the APP.

Linkr can be installed stand-alone, or plugged into any Vehicle Alarm, or Remote-Stater that supports the iDatalink protocol. If installed via a data connection, the user can control the "Host" Alarm, or Remote Start unit through data, while the analog outputs are still available for use & configuration. This doubles the simultaneous functionality of other telematics units.

Since the only thing the user actually sees and plays with is the Smartphone APP, instead of having a standard SKIN, Linkr offers the user different APP "SKIN" options to choose from, all of which support 6 languages, with more languages coming. These SKIN options include static images, and even a dynamic Weather SKIN that changes to match the ambient conditions.

The library of available SKINS grows with each APP update.  A user can even choose a different SKIN for different Linkr devices they are controlling from the same Smartphone.

And since the user can control multiple Linkr devices from a single Smartphone, or control a single LinkR device from multiple Phones, each device gets a profile, and that profile has an Avatar image to represent it. The Linkr APP provides a growing library of Avatar images, or the user can use a photo from their camera roll as the Avatar.

As a global platform, Linkr offers many valuable Telematic & Safety features that are not commonly available in the USA, and its architecture is just as diverse. A prime example is that traditional mobile telematic devices use both a cellular network provider, and a "Back-End" central station to relay the commands and responses between your Smartphone and the device installed in your vehicle, home, office, asset, etc. These Back-End servers are usually operated by third party companies who specialize in this field. They receive your command, translate it, and forward it to the device. They can log your usage, and record your location (very scary). Divorce lawyers love to subpoena this data.

Its not uncommon for these Back-End providers to close or decide to leave the industry, leaving all the devices hosted on their Back-End without service, unless all the data is migrated to a new provider's Back-End. This is a huge task, and also a huge vulnerability in the stability of your ability to use your device.

The Linkr platform was developed to eliminate this weak and invasive link, and offer absolute consumer privacy There is no Back-End, no one monitoring your commands or location. Since the Smartphone and the Linkr device communicate directly with each other via encrypted SMS messages, the only thing that comes in between the Smartphone and the Linkr device is the cellular service, nothing else.

When a command is sent, it travels directly to the Linkr device via an encrypted SMS text message, and vice versa. Thus, the usage and location are not recorded by Omega or anyone else, (what you do and where you did it is no one's business). And the user never needs to worry about a "Server Issue" interrupting the service. As long as you're in cellular range, it works.

An added user benefit of not having a Back-End is that the cost of operating Linkr is much lower. Most telematic offerings force the user to purchase a top-tier service plan in order to obtain full GPS tracking and related services. With Linkr, all plans including the low cost  "Lite-User" plan are fully featured including full GPS Tracking services (GPS Location, 2 Geo-fences, a Security-Fence, Speed Alert, etc).

Linkr service plans are broken out by number of monthly uses. With Linkr, a user who expects to have light usage can purchase a $40 a year plan, saving $60 or more a year in service costs, and still get every single GPS based service included. If the user outgrows the plan, they can upgrade to a higher use plan at any time.

Another unique user Safety feature is a "High-Risk" Panic routine.  If the in-vehicle Panic button or the APP's Panic button are pressed, the device will send an emergency alert message to all the phone numbers set up as "Alert Receivers", along with the device's coordinates, and begin an every 2-minute breadcrumb trail so all pre-set Alert Receivers are aware of your location in real time.

The Linkr device can be used in vehicles, boats, PWC's, snowmobiles, and even to monitor your home alarm. Omega will be adding new Linkr hardware's to the product family, all will be supported from the same Linkr Smartphone APP (ios & Android).

In other words, the Linkr platform is designed for easy scalability.

9-15-2016 -- Four-star United States military general "Stormin" Norman Schwarzkopf was known for successfully driving out Saddam Hussein's Iraqi forces from Kuwait in 1991. To his troops, he was known as a man of great wisdom and leadership who believed in individual responsibility. He once said, "The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.” Schwarzkopf's words carried beyond his troops and impacted one man in particular: Ed Weber, owner of 12-volt chain Foss Audio & Tint.

The company consists of four retail stores located in cities just South of Seattle, Wash., which include Tacoma, Kent, Tukwila and Puyallup. With 26 employees under his watch, Weber doesn't have time to babysit. Having a military background has helped him learn the value of independence, which includes following the words of Schwarzkopf when it comes to trusting his employees to know and do "the right thing" for the business. But those aren't the only words from the late general Weber found use in.

"Norman Schwarzkopf said he's so successful because he makes decisions fast. 'The enemy will spend so long but I'll make a decision so fast that I'll make the second before they've made their first,'" Weber said. "Sometimes it's better to make the wrong decision so at least you find out it was wrong faster. But it's gotta be a close debate. Sometimes the answer's obvious and simple. If it's close, just make the decision. I literally flipped a coin to decide which house I was going to buy."

While quick decisions and self-reliance are important to Weber, he also acknowledges that not just anyone has what it takes to be a leader. "We're management light. It's the hardest position of all to fill. The traditional theme of making your best performer your manager is flawed. Just because I'm a great salesperson doesn't mean I'm going to be a great manager of people," he said. "I was a good salesman so I got to be a manager, but I don't know that the two things necessarily have any correlation. I look for somebody who can help build a team."

Acoustic Intelligence

Given his knowledge of the Tao of Schwarzkopf, it's fitting that Weber spent time in the military—the Air Force, to be exact. But a military background isn't all he brings to the table as a mobile electronics expert.

"I've always been into music. I DJ'd when I was in the service. When I got out after four years, I was applying for jobs everywhere," Weber said. "I found a guy who needed someone who knew audio and I did, so I went to Smith's Home Furnishings and sold home appliances and electronics like big screen TVs, washers and dryers."

After working his way up the ladder and being promoted to manager, he moved with the shop to Florida, only to find himself out of work when the company went bankrupt a short time later. " They were sued for false advertising. It cost them over a quarter of a million dollars cash fine," Weber said. "The biggest thing I learned there was to find someone who's good at something and copy what they do. They went bankrupt right before Christmas. I went to work for the Good Guys, worked there one year then got a job as distributor rep for Pana Pacific, a long-time 12-volt distributor."

During this time, Weber was able to hone his skills as a salesman, working directly with retailers all throughout his territory in the Pacific Northwest. "I went to stores to sell product in circles until somebody said yes and they were my guy. It was challenging in the beginning because there was not a lot of income. I did pretty good there," Weber said.

Spending most of his time on the road, Weber established relationships with some of the top retailers in the country, including John Coleman, owner of Stereo King in Portland, Ore. Weber next went to work with Clarion under the tutelage of Bud Coe, who worked directly under Coleman previously, until Coleman opened Stereo King.

"That was a whole different animal. I had what was closer to A-line structure. I was a distributor rep in a smaller line. It's different than being a factory rep," Weber said. "I started distribution with Coe. That went well. The Northwest was always a great market for Clarion."

After three years of working for Clarion, the company laid off a large number of reps, including Weber, which led him to work for Bob Oliver at Oliver Marketing. One of his clients at the firm was Foss Audio, a struggling chain that had closed two locations due to poor business. Having seen the success that Coleman had with his chain and having built up a strong knowledge base on the 12-volt industry from his time as a sales rep, Weber saw an opening.

"When their store manager called me to see if they could carry Rockford, I saw they were in Washington and the other was in Oregon. I said I had a 'friend' who wanted to buy a store. The 'friend' was me, of course," Weber said. "I thought about it for a long time. When you're a rep you have all these theories of what you want to do with a business like that, but I wanted to find out."

He made the decision to buy the business and cashed out his 401K to use as the down payment and starting funds. The first store opened on December 23, 2002. "I went in on a shoe-string budget. It makes it so much more difficult. I had to go to my former boss and get a display and assemble it myself early in the morning before the store opened," Weber said. The lack of start-up cash extended beyond displays and into product. "If I sold four items, I had to go pick up those four items before the store opened the next morning."

Despite his early struggles, Weber was able to turn a profit and eventually decided to purchase a second store in Issaquah. As the years passed, the business continued its upward trend, resulting in the expansion of three more shops. While the company currently has four shops, having lost its lease on the Issaquah location, Weber is confident they will soon be back online with the fifth shop.

"Two months ago is when the Issaquah store closed and we're looking at new options as we speak.

That one was kind of weird. The showroom and install bay were in separate buildings but in the same parking lot," Weber said. "Things work out the way they should."

Clearwater, FL – (September 8, 2016) - iSimple, a Power Brand of AAMP Global, dedicated to smartphone and Bluetooth integration for older and less technology loaded vehicles, announced that its Bluetooth product line is compatible with the brand new iPhone 7.

iPhone 7 Won’t Have a Standard Headphone Jack

One of the biggest differences between the iPhone 7 and previous models is the headphone jack. Apple is a company with a long history of emphasizing proprietary equipment and connectors. This time around, they’re eliminating an unexpected feature: the 3.5 mm headphone jack, a style of connection that’s been around since the nineteenth century. In its place, Apple will use its own proprietary connection instead. “While people upgrade their smartphones every 18-24 months, they’re still holding on to their vehicles for years,” said Shaun Findley, vice president of Safety and Convenience at AAMP Global. “iSimple has been preparing for this industry-shifting event with our extensive line of connected car solutions for any car, at any age, with any smartphone.”

Hands-Free Calling and Streaming with Bluetooth: No Headphone Jack Required

Fortunately for soon-to-be iPhone 7 owners, iSimple offers a range of products that use Bluetooth including plug-and-play solutions that users can set up in less than 60 seconds, along with more complex equipment that needs to be professionally installed instead of a physical connection through a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. This means that people with the latest iPhone can still enjoy calling, music streaming, voice recognition, and more.

Here are a few of the products that iSimple recommends for iPhone 7 users:

●      BluJax. This simple, streamlined plug-and-play solution plugs into any standard AUX input. Using Bluetooth connectivity, it allows users to stream music from any smartphone through their vehicles speakers.

●      BluStream Universal. This hands-free calling and music streaming kit comes with a built-in microphone and call control button, which can be mounted on the dashboard or sun visor. It’s fully compatible with any Apple, Android, or Windows Phone devices.

●      BluStream FM.This Bluetooth smartphone connectivity solution uses an FM modulator to stream audio from a smart device. Equipped with a built-in call button and microphone for hands-free conversation, it can connect through Bluetooth instead of a 3.5mm AUX connection. Users can select from one of four FM frequencies for audio in almost any vehicle.

●      MusicStream. This professionally installed solution is rugged and weather resistant, making it ideal for smartphone users in challenging climates. Engineered with marine grade heat shrink tubing, it’s suitable for boats as well as cars.

●      TranzIt BLU HF.An easy, all-in-one solution for safe, hands-free calling and music streaming from any smart device-- even the iPhone 7. This professionally installed system offers crisp, clear audio quality, along with voice control via Siri.

As the automotive industry continues to transform, AutoMobility LA will also serve as a platform for product unveilings and significant announcements focused on technology, including the global premier of Divergent’s Blade production vehicle. Built using Divergent 3D’s proprietary platform, the Blade supercar represents the future of automobile manufacturing and will be available to customers in 2017.

Elio Motors, the start-up vehicle company bringing a low-cost, highly fuel efficient commuter vehicle to market, is planning on revealing the E1C (its latest E-Series vehicle), its P5 prototype vehicle and its interactive ePlus display at AutoMobility LA. With fuel efficiency of up to 84 mpg, the aerodynamic, 2-seater (tandem) has a set base price of $7,300 for non-refundable reservations (up to 65,000 total reservations).

Olli, the world’s first self-driving cognitive vehicle designed by Local Motors will also be present at this year’s AutoMobility LA. Olli, an on-demand shuttle with capacity for 12, is currently being used on private roads in the Washington, D.C. area and is the first vehicle to utilize the cloud-based cognitive computing capability of IBM Watson Internet of Things to analyze and learn from high volumes of transportation data.

Following AutoMobility LA, all of this year’s debuts will be on display at the 2016 LA Auto Show (open to the public November 18-27).

AutoMobility LA is the culmination of a multi-year evolution of the LA Auto Show’s Connected Car Expo and its Press and Trade Days into a trade show designed exclusively for the new automotive industry. The four-day event will bring together the entire “new mobility ecosystem” comprised of automakers, tech companies, designers, developers, startups, investors, dealers, government officials, analysts, etc.

Registration for AutoMobility LA is now open. All attendees will be able to witness this year’s vehicle debuts and have access to an all-new Technology Pavilion outside the Los Angeles Convention Center.

CNN Money -- Apple announced its next-generation smartphones and a slew of other products at its annual press event on Wednesday. The event kicked off with Apple CEO Tim Cook doing a little Carpool Karaoke with James Cordon and Pharrell. Apple recently bought a Carpool Karaoke TV series exclusively for Apple Music that will debut next year.

iPhone 7 focuses on photography: Apple's new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are water resistant, come in new shades of black, and have improved cameras.

The iPhone is Apple's bread and butter. The company has sold over 1 billion of the devices since it launched in 2007, according to Cook. The latest version isn't a huge departure from the iPhone 6S, but it has a few key upgrades.

It's water and dust resistant, which is different from waterproof but still an improvement over "easily killed by water."

The larger iPhone has two side-by-side12-megapixel cameras. One is wide angle and one is telephoto. It gives users 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. In the future, both cameras will be used at the same time to get a shallow depth-of-field effect, but that feature wasn't ready at launch. The smaller iPhone 7 still has one, lonely camera on the back.

The cameras on both phones have been updated with an optical image stabilizer, a new lens and a 12 megapixel sensor. The flash has four LEDs and can detect the flickers of artificial lighting to better compensate.

The Home button is now force sensitive. Instead of knowing you pressed the button because it clicked, it will vibrate. Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller said the revolutionary new button is "creating new feelings and experiences that could not have been created before."

The iPhone 7 now comes in two new colors: a high gloss jet black finish and a matte black. It's also still available in gold, silver and rose gold (yes, pink). The phones will ship with iOS 10. Existing iPhones can upgrade to the new mobile OS on September 13.

The new iPhones will be available September 16 and start at $649. And, finally, the 16GB entry level version has been nixed. The new phones will come with 32GB, 128GB and 256GB of storage.

The Third Wave: An Entrepreneur’s Vision of the Future by Steve Case

http://www.thirdwavebook.com/

We’re on a roll with the tech revolution and already embarking on what can be called the third wave of the Internet. According to Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and an accomplished entrepreneur, it will be unlike anything we’ve seen to date transforming the economy and our daily lives. Paying homage to futurist Alvin Toffler (from whom Case got the book’s title), Case offers insights into some of the most important business decisions of our time and what will happen next. The first wave was AOL and other companies setting the scene for consumers to connect to the Internet. (Hard to believe, but back in 1985 when AOL came on the scene, just three percent of Americans were online). The second wave has been about apps and services on top of the Internet. This Third Wave will be centered on entrepreneurs transforming industries like health, transportation, energy, and food. Ultimately, Case predicts, tech companies today and of the future—many of which may no longer be based in Silicon Valley—will have to rethink their relationships. The new rules, he writes, are partnerships, policy and perseverance.

9-6-2016 -- I co-chair a large local car show that attracts several hundred customs, classics, street rods, and tuner cars. It has been good for my business because these vehicle owners now see me as not only a car audio specialist but also a "car guy". People owning this type of vehicle want to know that the people working on their rides understand and appreciate what they mean to them. It doesn't generate big numbers of vehicles but it does give us the opportunity to work on them and these people usually have a higher disposable income level and will spend money to get the job done right and with quality products. And we get to work on some cool rides. Dave Clews, 12-volt Dave's Audio, Pottsville, Pa.

Sell what you believe in. It makes you appear more honest and sincere. Don't be afraid to give a little; you'll get more than you think. In the last few years we added custom vinyl which has been very successful. Profits are very similar to window tint. We just recently added lift kits and off-road accessories. There is a bid demand for that in our area and it should be profitable. John Draper, Custom Tint & Sound, Covington, Ga.

We should have done an on-site tent sale with great deals for a show. Brian Hampson, Stereo West Autotoys, Omaha, Neb.

I had an ad in a local magazine for a year and didn't get a ROI. Rommel Miranda, Car Audio, Radio & Security, Charleston, S.C.

Social media is required in today's world. Make sure you use it to promote your business. Greg Tackett, Greg's Custom Audio, Video & Car Stereo, Pikeville, Ky.
