5 Axis is the first company in this industry to offer a high-power magnet design that holds the finishing panels in place to ensure a clean and uninterrupted look, and reduces overall weight from the overuse of assembly hardware seen in some competitors’ options. The company also understands the importance of attracting the customer’s attention when walking into the store, so their innovative bright LED backlit panels offer custom HD graphic panels are designed specifically for each dealer with their store branding as the primary focus, while visually stimulating consumers with important information and messaging via lifestyle images that appeal to all demographics. The panels are offered in many different sizes and can be crafted to fit custom spaces as needed. This allows the retailer to change graphics easily to promote different categories and update messaging as technology evolves.
One of their designs, the Curve™, really sets them apart from the crowd. It angles the panels at the top and bottom of the display toward the consumer viewing it, which not only increases product visibility, it also encourages the consumer to touch and experience the products which is something that rarely happens with standard or flat one-dimensional displays. The displays are crafted with longevity in mind from high grade lightweight aluminum, which substantially reduces the displays overall weight thereby decreasing shipping and installation costs.
“Our goal is to help the owner visualize his new store with our drawings, and implement them in his store as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.” says Jody Culbertson of 5 AXIS Solutions. “Our package options for swapping display categories, coupled with easy upgradability built into every display ensures that the retailer is not locked into one design for many years. The retail stores in this industry need to be dynamic to stay ahead of the curve, and we are the only display and fixture company that makes this extremely easy.”
Typical timelines for a store redesign from first contact to in-store-installation can range anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks, depending on the size, number of categories, and preparation. The company prides itself on the motto “if you can dream it, we can build it”, and this is supported with a wide product line that ranges from standard wall displays to LED panels, counters, product islands, sound rooms, and just about any other in-store feature you can imagine.

DOT, Automakers Agree on Proactive Safety Principles
This is a very exciting time for the auto industry. And I don't just mean the 2016 North American International Auto Show taking place in Detroit.
Yesterday, I announced DOT’s efforts in 2016 to support the safe deployment of autonomous vehicles that carmakers have been developing. And that includes President Obama's proposal to invest $4 billion in pilot programs [external link] to make sure we get it right. And next week, the President will visit Detroit to celebrate a history-making year of record auto sales.

Secretary Foxx walks the Detroit Auto Show with NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind.
But there's another side to what is happening in the industry. While we should celebrate the good news, there has been talk of another kind of record: Record numbers of vehicles recalled, and record civil penalties issued by our National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Fast Lane readers know the stories. And you might know that Congress recently passed legislation that strengthens NHTSA's enforcement tools. But, you probably also know that real safety means finding and fixing defects before someone gets hurt, rather than just punishing manufacturers after the damage is done.
So that's why I'm excited to announce that, today, DOT and 18 automakers are taking a strong stand --together-- for a new proactive, collaborative approach to safety.

Secretary Foxx, NHTSA Administrator Rosekind with automakers.
We have finalized a historic agreement on a set of broad-ranging actions to help make our roads safer and help avoid the sort of safety crisis that generates the wrong kind of record-setting and headlines. The commitments we make today will help catch safety defects before they explode into massive recalls. They will help improve the quality of data that automakers and NHTSA analyze to identify defects today, and they will find ways to generate better data in the future.
DOT has experience with this kind of approach. In aviation, for example, we already have a model of industry-wide collaboration to support safety. The FAA’s safety management system (SMS) requires a willingness among the airlines to share safety data that can lead to discovering a defect before it hurts anyone. And this has dramatically reduced aviation accidents in our skies.
And, when a recall does become necessary, the commitments we're making today will help us reach consumers and get their vehicles repaired.
Additionally, today’s actions strengthen the industry's efforts to protect vehicle owners from cybersecurity risks. We all know that the performance today's vehicles achieve is due in large part to an increasing amount of computer hardware and software under the hood and behind the dashboard. And the era of automated vehicle technologies we're ushering in will add to that. So we have pledged to work collaboratively to mitigate cyber threats that could pose unreasonable safety risks. We will engage our best cybersecurity minds, share known vulnerabilities and countermeasures, and adopt best practices from within as well as outside of the auto industry.
This coming together of the global automotive industry with DOT and NHTSA to determine how we can make vehicles that are safer than ever before and even safer in the future --this is unprecedented. It was born of us gathering everyone in the same room last fall, and it was the product of an immense amount of work by the companies who have signed onto these principles and by our team at DOT.
It’s a new way of doing business for everybody, and new ways don’t come easily. But that's what you have to do to when the mission you share --making sure Americans can get safely to and from their destination every time they get in their car-- is so important.

Founder Of Award Winning Sonus Car Audio Ready To Launch New Training Center
Construction has commenced on the new EVOL Installer Factory training facility in Clarksville, TN after nearly two years of careful planning and evaluation, with the sole purpose of creating a campus that fully incorporates the real-world, hands-on training that has made Sonus Evolution training programs so successful and well attended over the last few years. This new training center will create an upscale, professional environment for corporate and manufacturer training as well.
A new technician ‘rating’ system has been developed extensively by Micah Williams, founder of Sonus Car Audio and Sonus Evolution/EVOL products and training programs, and it will be incorporated in a newly designed long-term training program that will help train new technicians, and reestablish veterans with the skills and knowledge needed to work on today’s vehicles. With the many obstacles and technical hurdles faced by technicians in even some of the simplest installation tasks nowadays, these skills are essential for everyday business, and can significantly increase the technician’s capability and their overall effectiveness in their role in any shop.
The rating system itself is meant to be a sort of bio of the technician’s strengths and weaknesses – which helps get them into the role that they are best suited for, but also allows shop owners to obtain more focused training for these technicians in their weaker areas to help them advance and become more of an asset to the company. This also helps shop owners looking to fill roles in their company by being able to access a verified talent pool of technicians to find the candidate that possess the traits required to make an immediate positive impact on the business. A real-time rating update system also allows shop owners to monitor progress of employees at a training to keep the owner engaged, and the technician motivated.
The training programs offer up to 1,280 hours of training, including classroom work, hands-on training in different areas of expertise, and a focused realization of their capabilities in each category. Tuition varies based on the program, and tuition assistance is available for almost any budget. Direct billing and invoicing is ready for manufacturers who send employees or retailers for training as well.
All programs cover the following:
- MECP Certification Testing
- Training on audio, video, tint, remote start, upholstery, radar, safety systems, and metalworking
- Sound Quality demonstration and tuning techniques by proven competition champions
- Advanced fabrication techniques with composites, alloys, and specialized tooling
- Sales training with a focus on client interaction and habit coaching
- Store and shop management skills and daily routine coaching to promote efficiency
- Priority access and discounts to annual EVOL training events and products
- Career path placement services through our extensive network of mobile electronics stores
Completion of the facility and all related items are expected by mid-May 2016, and technician training programs and manufacturer trainings are already being booked for a June kickoff. The effort is expected to realize a much needed industry standard of technician evaluation to allow shop owners to gauge and improve their staff, and to choose the right replacement candidates going forward. It is also expected to give mobile electronics manufacturers a third-party platform and facility to train retailers and employees, or hold events to promote regional and corporate events.
EVOL products and training programs are the brainchild of the founder of the award winning Sonus Car Audio, and are based on actual hands-on experience and expertise. These skills and the associated products are promoted to businesses worldwide to help them achieve a higher level of installation capability, efficiency, and professionalism. News Watch -- CES 2016 has come and gone. Another year in the bag. NewsWatch was there on the ground in Las Vegas covering all that is groundbreaking and new in the tech world. While attending this massive event definitely gives you an idea of how large it is in scope, you won’t truly be able to fathom the size without a few statistics.
Sure some of you couldn’t be there with us but there were many that were. Over 170,000 to be a little more precise. That’s roughly the population of Chattanooga, Tennessee. So basically the entire city of Chattanooga attended CES this year.
There were over 2.47 million square feet of tech exhibits at the world’s biggest tech trade show. These square feet housed north of 3,800 exhibitors, there to drum up business and highlight the newest breakthroughs in their field.
Needless to say these numbers blew away any previous year’s performance. But what’s even more staggering is the fact that over 50,000 of these attendees were international. They traveled to Vegas from over 150 countries. There were even 100-plus delegations in attendance, including Cuba! (Yes that Cuba.)
Gary Shapiro, CEO of the CTA (Consumer Technology Association), which organizes and puts on the event every year, remarked on this, “CES has cemented its position as the global gathering place for all industries to be wowed by the tens of thousands of ways that technology is changing the world as we know it.”
Continuing with the numbers, over 500 startup companies represented. That’s in comparison to 375 last year.
There were a jaw-dropping 15.2 billion social media impressions regarding CES between January 5thand the 9th. #CES2016 alone appeared just under 1.3 billion times on social media. Just to put that in perspective, that’s over 200 million more mentions than the Super Bowl garnered last year during the big game.

ABC News -- The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is a technology nerd's playground -- and this year it was bigger than ever.
There were more than 3,600 exhibitors spread across 2.47 million-square-feet this year. The Consumer Technology Association, which hosts the annual trade show, said the show brought more than 170,000 people to Las Vegas.
Show participants are given a glimpse into the future and new technology stars are born at CES. Here were the biggest takeaways from this year's show.
Virtual Reality Is Here to Stay
There's no doubt 2016 is the year virtual reality begins to go mainstream. Jaunt, NextVR and Oculus all grabbed headlines last week for their VR cameras -- and in the case of Oculus -- its $600 consumer headset. Luna 360, a consumer-friendly camera about the size of a pool ball, made its debut at the show ahead of a planned release later this year.
"This year is really the first year consumers have access to this," DJ Roller, founder of NExtVR, told ABC News last week. "Virtual reality is a whole other medium, as different as radio was to television."
Smarter Drones and Autonomous Vehicles
Intel showed off a fleet of drones that use the company's RealSense technology, which enables them to map an environment in real-time and react to it. Intel included the technology in Segway's Advanced Personal Robots. A race car driving experience using RealSense showed movements on the screen.
Chipmaker NVIDIA showed off another super-powered computer called the Drive PX2, which is designed to be the brain inside of self-driving cars. The car is about the size of a lunch box, the computer can process 8 teraflops, which by comparison, the company said is the equivalent strength of 150 MacBook Pro computers.
"When it comes to drones and autonomous vehicles, you are finally seeing solutions out there that aren’t perfect but are solving the biggest issues that are out there without needing a supercomputer. To make something autonomous it needs to be able to see, perceive and act," Patrick Moorhead, an analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, told ABC News.

Automotive IT -- Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche showed the new Mercedes E-Class on the eve of the Detroit auto show, saying the core model is “the very first series-built car that is equipped with car-to-X communication.”
Zetsche said the E-Class not only “talks” to other cars, but also can learn, using artificial intelligence technology to take another big step in the direction of autonomous driving.
Self-driving cars need to deploy, so-called “deep-learning computers” that are capable of labeling concepts such as street, vehicle or pedestrian on their own. Such computers, therefore, don’t need to be trained or programmed to identify and deal with every detail, Zetsche said.
“With this technology, cars will, for instance, learn to recognize the typical concept of street life in Stuttgart and they will be able to adapt that knowledge to a street in China” or anywhere else in the world, he added.
Artificial intelligence is widely acknowledged as an essential technology on the road to driverless driving. At the CES consumer electronics fair in Las Vegas earlier this week, Toyota unveiled details of its 1 billion dlr investment in a new research operation that focuses on artificial intelligence and robotics.

Kia Motors America has unveiled the 2017 Forte5 alongside its similarly refreshed sedan sibling at the North American International Auto Show.
Along with visual enhancements to the front and rear, the new Forte5 also adds a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and newly available convenience and driver-assistance features previously introduced on the all-new Optima. Pricing for the 2017 Forte5 will be announced closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date in the first half of 2016.
While the new Forte5 maintains its European-inspired hatchback design, it appears bolder than ever for 2017. Like the sedan, the Forte5’s front clip is highlighted by a wider version of the signature “tiger nose” grille, similar to the one found on the all-new 2016 Optima. The grille connects redesigned headlights that sweep back around the front fenders, giving the new Forte5 more road presence than the outgoing model. Around back, revised taillights complete the exterior redesign, and higher trim levels go one step further with standard LED daytime running lights and taillights.
Three trim levels remain - LX, EX, and SX – and each one brings something new to the table for 2017. The entry-level LX is handsomely equipped with features such as projector beam headlights and remote keyless entry with trunk opener and is now available with Blind Spot Detection3 with Lane Change Assist and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, as these advanced driver-assistance systems are optional across the entire range. The EX sees the most changes as previous options – including LED taillights, leather seats, heated front seats, push-button start with Smart Key, and perimeter approach lighting with front-door pocket lighting – are now standard along with UVO eServices4. Kia’s UVO infotainment system offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlayTM (late availability) compatibility, and is displayed on a 7-inch color touchscreen4. Both platforms allow drivers to stay connected by replicating key smartphone apps and functionality on the touchscreen, enabling them to send text messages, access music, or look up driving directions while behind the wheel. The sporty SX trim comes with all that and more, including 18-inch alloy wheels, unique front and rear fascias with red accents, and dual exhaust tip finishers. Also new for the SX is an Orange Color Pack, which further signifies the SX’s sporty nature with orange leather seat inserts and contrasting stitching on the seats and shifter.
Underneath the hood, the 2017 Forte5 comes standard with a 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine, which is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an available second-generation six-speed automatic transmission. Maintaining the sport theme in the SX is a zippy 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine, which is now available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power ratings and fuel economy figures will be released closer to launch, while 2017 Koup details will be released at a later date.

“GM truck owners take pride in their trucks and choose accessories to help their drive, whether for work or leisure,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “The new Alpine Restyle products for this market are more than just entertainment products, they are tools that drivers can depend on to improve their driving experience.”
A Factory Look, No Matter the Screen Size
There are four Restyle dash systems that can each serve as the centerpiece for an Alpine system optimized for GM trucks. The 10-inch systems – revolutionary designs that represent the largest aftermarket system screen for North America – are the X110-SLV for 2014-up Chevrolet Silverados and the X110-SRA for 2014-up GMC Sierras. The 9-inch models – which are still larger than the industry standard 2-DIN screen size – are the X009-GM for select 2007-2013 GM trucks with lower dash radio and 2007-2014 GM SUVs, and the X009-GM2 for select GM 2007-2013 full size trucks with upper dash radio. Each comes with a dash bezel that replaces the OEM radio for a factory look and vehicle specific wiring harnesses for plug and play installation.
X009-GM and X009-GM2 9-Inch Restyle Dash Systems
The X009-GM and X009-GM2 are 9-inch Restyle dash systems with audio, video and navigation feature sets. Audio sources include a built-in HD Radio™ receiver, iPhone and iPod® music control through the “Made for iPod and iPhone” compatibility, audio streaming and Pandora® control from iPhone and Android™ smartphones. Both models are SiriusXM-Ready™ and connect to the SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit (sold separately, subscription required). Video features include a high-resolution screen and HDMI input for connectivity to HDMI-enabled devices and an HDMI output for digital connection to a rear seat entertainment system. Navigation benefits include pre-loaded maps of the United States, Canada, more than seven million Points of Interest (POIs), and free lifetime HERE Traffic RDS service. Both models have Alpine’s advanced Bluetooth® wireless technology and MediaXpander® technology for better playback of compressed media, improved audio streaming, and enhanced phone call sound quality. The models also come with an iDatalink® Maestro® module to retain select factory vehicle controls and features like OnStar™ from GM, steering wheel controls and visual parking guides when used with a rear view camera. Customized vehicle information such as tire pressure, battery voltage, and user selectable gauges can also be viewed on the screen. The “My Favorites” feature lets users customize a quick-access screen with shortcuts to their most-used features like audio sources, navigation commands and phone settings.
X110-SLV and X110-SRA 10-Inch Restyle Dash Systems
The X110-SLV and X110-SRA have new features appearing for the first time ever on Alpine products, as well as the same capabilities as the 9-inch models. Leading the list of new features is the large 10-inch capacitive WXGA touch screen, which comes with a vehicle specific trim bezel with crystal back-lit keys and a rotary encoder knob. The X110-SLV uses a blue color scheme for the crystal keys and graphical user interface (GUI) which matches the Silverado’s dashboard and gauge cluster, while the X110-SRA uses a red color scheme to match the Sierra’s dashboard and gauge cluster.
The X110-SLV and X110-SRA feature a new GUI based on a new graphics rendering engine with 4-way swipe action control -- left, right, down and up. A left swipe accesses navigation commands, a right swipe accesses audio and video commands, a swipe down accesses adjustments to the audio system or rear seat entertainment system (sold separately) and a swipe up accesses Bluetooth and source selection. Within the audio and video page, the user can swipe across to access the entertainment sources connected to the system.
Smartphone connectivity powered by Airbiquity® for iPhone and Android based smartphones will feature a portfolio of useful and popular infotainment content. The companion Alpine Connect smartphone app will provide simple content selection and user personalization. The content features will integrate into Alpine user and navigation interfaces for enhanced user convenience. Alpine Connect content for April 2016 retail availability will include Spotify for streaming music and playlists; iHeartRadio for streaming live radio stations from across the country, custom music stations, 24/7 news, on-demand podcasts, and the best in sports, talk and comedy programming; Yelp for finding local places to eat, drink, and shop; and Glympse for sharing locations with friends and family. Additional content will be added to the Alpine Connect portfolio at later dates.
System Expansion for 10-inch Restyle Dash Systems
When used with the optional KAC-001 External Accessory Control Module (sold separately), the X110-SLV and X110-SRA become a hub for convenient touch screen control of up to eight add-on truck accessories like a motorized tonneau cover, air suspension, light bar, winch, headlights, etc. A graphical icon and custom text label can be assigned to each accessory for quick identification on the screen. Eight individual outputs are available to control eight relay-connected accessories, and each output can be configured as pulsed, latched or momentary output. The KCX-C250MC Multi-Camera Controller (sold separately) allows as many as three camera systems to be added to the vehicle and controlled from the touch screen. Video entertainment can be enjoyed by the back seat passengers with the addition of the PKG-RSE4AP rear seat entertainment system with 11.4-inch flip-down screen (sold separately). It features a direct HDMI input for connection to the X110-SRA and X110-SLV. Unique to the PKG-RSE4AP is the Plasmacluster® technology, which reduces bacteria from the truck’s interior by decreasing contaminants and odors via charged particle attraction for a cleaner in-vehicle environment.
Truck Sound Systems and Tailgate Handle Camera
Rounding out the specific offerings for GM trucks and SUVs are two sound systems and a tailgate handle camera. The new PSS-31GM 3-Way Direct Fit Sound System Package is optimized for select 2014-up GM full size trucks. The package consists of the SPT-31GM 3-way component direct-fit speaker system, an MRV-V500 5-channel V-Power amplifier and Alpine's unique 10-inch Zero Space Subwoofer. The SPT-31GM upgrades the truck’s speaker system from a 2-way to a 3-way system by supplying 8-inch woofers (for the front doors), 6.5-inch coaxial speakers (for the rear doors) and 3-inch midrange speakers plus 1-inch tweeters (installed in the dash) which all fit in the factory speaker locations. The kit comes with speaker pods that are Alpine engineered for the compatible trucks and create a factory-fit look (the SPT-31GM is also available as its own packaged speaker system). The subwoofer assembly comes with a specifically tuned enclosure for 2014-up GM trucks and attaches to the back wall behind the rear seat in the truck so it doesn't take up any usable space under a seat. It’s tuned for deep bass and creates low-frequency extension by coupling the enclosure to the cabin vents behind the seat. All needed installation hardware like amplifier wiring and speaker adapters are included.
Still available is the PSS-21GM Sound System Package for 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. Included in the package are the SPT-21GM GM truck speaker system (consisting of 2-way, 6 ½-inch component speakers for the front doors, 6 ½-inch coaxial speakers for the rear doors, and custom speaker pods that fit the compatible trucks), an MRV-V500 5-channel amplifier and a 10-inch Zero Space Subwoofer for 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. The SPT-21GM is available on its own as a speaker system or as part of the complete PSS-GM21 sound system.
The HCE-TG130GM Tailgate Handle Camera System is specifically designed for 2007-2013 GM trucks. It consists of a rear view camera system with a tailgate handle surround bezel and integrated LED reverse lights. It replaces the stock tailgate handle surround bezel for direct bolt-in installation and has a keyable lock cylinder to deter theft. There are four viewing modes, each of which are especially helpful for truck drivers: normal view to back into parking spaces; ground view to see the area directly under the camera to help with connecting to a tow hitch; split view to identify objects on the left and right corners; and panorama view to see the entire driveway when backing out.

Kenwood USA has announced its newest top-end multimedia receiver, the eXcelon DNX893S, in its booth at International CES, January 6-9.
The double-DIN, touch friendly unit is the company’s most complete entertainment and information center to date, receiving a completely new processing infrastructure, enhanced smartphone integration, improved safety features and support for high-resolution audio.
“We’ve redesigned this unit inside and out,” said Rick Noetzli, KENWOOD product manager. “It now features a Linux-based operating system and dual-core processor for improved stability and speed. The extra processing power supports the most extensive selection of inputs, applications and features we’ve ever put together.”
The DNX benefits from the company’s expansion of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ into more of its 2016 multimedia receivers. Like the DDX9902S introduced in 2015, the DNX893S features both platforms, allowing users to connect either an iPhone® or Android™-based smartphone to safely access and control navigation, streaming content, messaging and music using an intuitive voice interface. Two USB ports with built-in support for rapid-charging technology let the user connect and charge a smartphone and use the other port for flash media.
When not using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, built-in apps on the DNX893S let the user select and control smartphone apps over Bluetooth on the receiver’s display, including Spotify® and Pandora® Internet Radio. Another integration feature is MHL support over HDMI, which displays the screen of a compatible Android-based smartphone on the receiver and lets the user control apps from the larger, safer display. The DNX893S is also SiriusXM-Ready™ and connects to the latest SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner (sold separately, subscription required).
The multimedia receiver’s user interface has been totally redesigned to provide an informative, logical array of information that minimizes distraction. Behind the brilliant 7-inch glass capacitive touch screen, large icons are amply spaced along the bottom of the display to enable a driver focusing on the road to easily find the desired function or entertainment source. The screen also displays vibrant album art next to a customizable widget area that lets the user store frequently used applications and select each with a swipe across the screen. For more tactile functions, the single row of buttons provides quick access to audio adjustments, source selection and menu options.
The safety elements of the DNX893S have been expanded to help the driver maneuver and find destinations more intuitively. In addition to the available rear camera view, a front-view camera can be added to get in and out of tight spaces or avoid parking blocks and other obstacles. A user-selectable overlay of park lines helps judge the distance between the vehicle and an another object. The DNX893S also includes onboard navigation from Garmin that provides turn-by-turn spoken directions, lane assistance a one-button selection of personalized destinations. On-screen traffic information provided by INRIX (free for two years) helps the driver plan routes more effectively by avoiding areas with heavy traffic congestion.
Last year, KENWOOD introduced higher-quality call audio via Bluetooth thanks to an enhanced Hands-Free profile. Bluetooth is improved again this year with the ability to have two phones actively paired at the same time. This driver and passenger use the receiver to select which phone call or phone-based entertainment media will be broadcast through the audio system, eliminating distractions associated with adjusting Bluetooth functions on each phone.
High-resolution audio media is supported on the DNX893S, with the ability to decode 192KHz, 24-bit FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) or WAV-embedded media from any source. The built-in, 13-band equalizer provides infinite adjustment for audio powering the built-in amplifier or sent through the three sets of 5-volt RCA outputs to outboard amplifiers. The DNX893S will be on display during the upcoming International CES in Las Vegas, January 6-9 at Booth #1702 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. VOXX Electronics Corporation announced the future of remote starts with the introduction of CarLinkBT, a Bluetooth module and smartphone app that is compatible with most popular remote start systems.
When paired with its corresponding smartphone app, CarLinkBT transforms a smartphone into a virtual transmitter, instantly giving remote access to the vehicle and a direct connection to OE-style safety and convenience services delivering a complete safety, convenience and security solution.
“Remote start as we know it today has remained virtually unchanged for over 20 years, providing users with a simple and convenient way to preheat or cool their vehicle with the use of a transmitter. But what if your transmitter was locked in your car, lost, damaged or had a dead battery leaving you with no way into your vehicle? With the introduction of CarLinkBT we have reinvented what remote start systems can now do,” said Tom Malone, President of VOXX Electronics Corporation. “For a one-time fee of $7.99, users can download the CarLinkBT app turning their smartphone into a virtual transmitter to unlock/lock and start their vehicle, eliminating the worry of ever being without a transmitter again.”
Once the CarLinkBT module is installed with a compatible remote start and/or factory keyless entry and the app is downloaded, the CarLinkBT Bluetooth Basic Service delivers access to the vehicle without the use of a transmitter. With CarLinkBT, never worry about being without access to your vehicle again. CarLinkBT provides peace of mind by having a virtual transmitter within the smartphone at all times.

The KICKER® L7QB8 Compact Enclosed Subwoofer is more than an all-aluminum subwoofer enclosure. Measuring under 11 inches long, this powerhouse handles 500 watts RMS, and mounts nearly anywhere.
Using reflex-subwoofer technology, this next-level bass machine is more efficient, can go deeper and take more power than any enclosure of its size. The L7QB8 debuts at CES 2016 today, at booth 1719 in the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall. Another innovation from the leader in bass, the L7QB8 retails for $799.95 and will be available exclusively at Authorized KICKER Q-Class Dealers by mid-January.
Sleek design, innovative technology and a true love of audio has motivated KICKER to create a solution that meets a long-unfulfilled need: huge bass in a tiny space. The KICKER L7QB8 is an enclosed subwoofer made to fill a gap that has gone unsatisfied in the market to date: an easily installed, upper-echelon subwoofer that is small enough to fit nearly any vehicle on the road today, yet still deliver the massive, detailed bass for which KICKER is famous. The myriad of technologies incorporated, from the reflex subwoofer to the legendary L7® Subwoofer to the aluminum enclosure itself, reinforces the uniqueness and innovation put into the L7QB8.
KICKER’s visionary design ensures the mobile-audio lover will experience a degree of musical detail and raw power previously unavailable anywhere in an 8-inch form factor. Utilizing a seamless 1/4-inch-thick, extruded aluminum housing, the L7QB8 enclosure possesses extraordinary strength and stability while affording the subwoofer the optimum internal air volume. A unique reflex subwoofer is used to minimize required airspace, while optimizing the efficiency and frequency response of the L7 Subwoofer.
Opposite the reflex sub, the legendary square L7 Subwoofer utilizes a power rating of 500 watts RMS and frequency response of 27-100Hz, delivering significantly more bass than any other 8-inch enclosure on the market. While the square cone guarantees the signature L7 Subwoofer moves more air than any similarly sized competitor, it also ensures reliability with features put in for exceptional heat dissipation.
The L7QB8 is the pinnacle of design form and functionality. The extruded aluminum enclosure is adorned with a charcoal finish, while nickel-plated brass terminals capable of accepting 8AWG wire allow maximum signal transfer to the subwoofer. Matching perforated grilles perfectly integrate with the sub, built to be as tough as it is refined.
The enclosed subwoofer comes with a low-profile mounting system consisting of a mounting plate and bar. Fully installed, the overall height of the enclosure is a scant 9-1/2 inches, small enough to work perfectly in countless trucks, sedans and SUVs. Whether to augment a factory system or as the complement to a higher-end audio install, the subwoofer can be tucked neatly away under a seat or in the trunk.

DD Audio will be hosting an invite only Deconstruction Showcase in Las Vegas NV, Jan 6th-9th 2016 during CES.
As the event’s name suggests, DD’s training team will be breaking every DD product down to it’s base elements to show you what makes them so unique in a market where many products appear the same.
The main goal of the showcase will be to educate current and potential dealers as to why DD Audio is one of the world’s leading audio manufacturers. DD Audio Team members from Tech Support, R&D, and Sales will be on hand to provide in depth trainings, demonstrations, and to answer any and every question you’ve ever had about DD Audio.
There will also be demo vehicles on-site giving attendees the chance to hear what some of the newest DD Audio products sound like in real world applications. Since the goal is education, DD didn’t want any of the normal CES floor distractions to interfere with the training sessions; which is why the event will be hosted off site.
This will allow the training team to really focus on one-on-one interactions with attendees. DD will not only use these interactions for educating the attendees, but also to educate themselves.
There will be open discussions on what future product developments DD dealers will benefit the most from, and what elements will improve dealer profitability when partnering with DD Audio. DD is very excited about the upcoming year, and this showcase will provide an opportunity to show potential and current dealers a glimpse of the future of DD Audio.
