STILLWATER, USA – KICKER’s® own Rob Limbaugh is preparing for an epic journey through America’s heartland.

This week marks the start of one of the most demanding motorized events in the world. The One Lap of America kicks off May 5 at Tire Rack’s headquarters in South Bend, Ind. Founded in 1983 by legendary journalist and American Motorsports Hall-of-Fame inductee Brock Yates, One Lap spans eight days, 14 states and over 3,600 miles. The “Lap” will take 85 teams through a combination of 19 separate events, including road courses, time trials and drag races at nine different locations – all of which must be completed on a single set of tires.

Limbaugh, KICKER’s Vice President of Business Development, is a five-time veteran of the OLOA. This year he and co-driver Ron James are steering a 2017 BMW M240i, and the audio performance will no doubt match the execution under the hood.

“The stock system is a set of four-inch, full-range drivers,” Limbaugh said, who added the KICKER KEY180.4 smart amp and PX-Series mono amplifiers, as well as KICKER KS-Series speakers. “The difference in sound quality is night and day.”

The KICKER VP cites the motivation to participate in One Lap lies more in the experience than the victory.

“These guys are all gearheads,” Limbaugh said. “If somebody breaks down on the side of the road, there are five guys puling over to help him. There’s a comradery like nothing I’ve ever seen before.”

One Lap has its roots in the original cross-country race, the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, which debuted in 1971 with a 2,900-mile run for more than 140 drivers and 60 vehicles ranging from Studebakers to Ferraris.

During the 2018 event, the One Lap of America Facebook page will be updated daily with live streams, team interviews, behind-the-scenes moments and more. The competitor standings will be constantly updated on the One Lap website.

“It’s an awful lot like mountain climbing,” Limbaugh said. “You just do it because it’s there.”

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® welcomed country-music and Americana recording artist and KICKER brand ambassador Tim Montana to World Headquarters here last week to hear his newly upgraded Chevy® C-10 and perform in front of 200 in-house employees.

Montana was treated to a demo of the newly minted KICKER Bronco, in addition to a personal tour of the KICKER facility by Director of Brand and Sports Marketing Roger Demaree, who shared the history of the company in the VIP Museum and Visitors Center.

He then witnessed the unveiling from KICKER’s Special Projects team: the new sound system for his long-owned C-10 featuring a KICKER mono amplifier powering two L7T square subwoofers, housed in a Slosh Tubz™ enclosure. To power the front stage, a KEY200.4 smart amplifier was used to bring a set of KS-Series coaxials to life. The truck was Montana’s first as a teen, selling it later in life and then locating it once again to purchase once more.

To cap off the afternoon, Montana thrilled a crowd of employees with an acoustic set, featuring personal hits “Hillbilly Rich” and “Rust and Red”, the song written for his beloved Chevy and penned by himself along with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® announces the addition of longtime KICKER employee Aziz Masri to the International Sales Team.

In a new initiative spearheaded by International Sales Director Chet Weddle, Masri will serve several locations on every continent KICKER serves, as will every member of the International Sales Team.

“When you interview for a position like this, you search for someone who can become the face of the company outside these walls, and do so admirably,” Weddle said. “We loved that Aziz would look at the position from a different perspective, and knew he would be an immediate fit.

“Based on this expansion, we’ve thrown a stick of dynamite at the traditional model. Instead of assigning territories to each member of the department, we are matching people to personalities,” Weddle said.

Masri has worked at KICKER for over two decades, starting in the Electronic Repair department and then transferring to Research and Development. He was then promoted to Electronic Repair Manager – a post he held for the past 15 years.

“I have always felt that because of my overseas background, that I could do a good job in the International Sales Department,” Masri said. “I wanted to do more for this company and move to a new challenge. Working in the technical side, you are trained to look at transistors and coils. Now I look at how the product I have worked on for so long fits my customer, and how I can help make our products serve each territory. I’m very excited to start.”

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® is pleased to introduce Falcon Sales and Marketing as its new brand representative group in the U.S. Northwest. Falcon replaces longtime rep firm N&S Marketing, which had disbanded following the retirement of its principal.

“We always want somebody who is going to put KICKER first,” said Western Regional Sales Manager Tracy Focht. “They have the infrastructure we need and were ready to start working with us immediately. We are very excited to have (CEO) Dave (Gates) and his firm on board with KICKER.”

Falcon was chosen not only for its strong infrastructure, but for its founder David Gates. Gates has intimate knowledge of the brand, having been named a four-time KICKER Rep-of-the-Year during his tenure as a rep with N&S Marketing.

“KICKER’s kind of in my blood,” said Gates. “I always felt that KICKER was like family, so returning to a brand I truly love feels like a homecoming.”

The Washington-based firm has a dedicated warehouse with shipping, sales, fulfillment, and technical support.

Falcon will serve retailers across Oregon, Washington, Northern Idaho, and Alaska out of its 5,000 square-foot distribution center in Washougal, Wash. To learn more about Falcon Sales and Marketing, dealers can visit falconsalesanddistribution.

STILLWATER, USA – Stillwater Designs®, the parent company of KICKER® Audio, is actively supporting the regional community during the international Coronavirus pandemic.

While KICKER’s management team has sent employees home to work remotely and to care for families and kids, the organization has also flexed its resources and manpower to support regional health-services providers.

KICKER, with support from several component suppliers, recently stepped up to the plate to offer 10,000 facemasks in support of community efforts to fight COVID-19. Believing that “charity begins at home,” 8,300 masks were donated to Stillwater (Okla.) Medical Center to accommodate hospital patients and the staff caring for them.

Another 1,200 face masks have been sent to Hillcrest Medical Center, a 620-bed hospital in Tulsa, Okla., through a KICKER staff connection.

Another 500 masks were contributed to a group of New York City hospitals through KICKER brand and sports marketing director Roger Demaree, whose nephew is a surgeon currently working at a NYC hospital.

Additionally, the company was pleased to offer a supply of clear face shields to area first-responders.

Besides distributing the vendor-supplied face masks, a 15-year KICKER team member and his family have also found a way to make a positive impact in the local community.

Kyle Ambrose, who works in research and development, began experimenting with the company’s 3-D printer, normally used for creating prototype parts. Ambrose consulted with a healthcare professional about local needs and learned that beyond face masks, face shields were in great demand. Ambrose subsequently researched and discovered approved patterns online and created a headband that could be used to secure a clear face shield. He reached out to Stillwater Christian School where his children are enrolled to inquire about the availability of clear safety film used for overhead projectors. He enlisted the school’s participation in donating needed materials and also secured additional film donations from Fenton Office Mart (Stillwater).

While 3-D printing is a slow process, Ambrose is able to produce three bands simultaneously in under three hours. To date, he has hand-crafted over 100 shields which were initially slated for Stillwater Medical Center and then redirected on the hospital’s recommendation to the area’s senior-assisted living homes that were experiencing shortages. Ambrose personally delivered the shields to each home where they were gratefully received.

“We are pleased to be able to share our resources with our community,” says KICKER founder Steve Irby. “Stillwater is our home and we appreciate the opportunity to support those who care for us.”

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® has solved a common amplifier integration challenge with a single, elegant solution. Now shipping worldwide, KICKER introduces the KEYLOC™ - the first frequency, speaker-lead identification system and fully functional line-output converter in one. The KEYLOC Smart LOC is available at Authorized KICKER Dealers in-store and online, and retails for $129.95.

Emerging from KICKER’s cutting-edge line of KEY™ Technology, KEYLOC is a revolutionary, DSP (digital signal processor)-controlled line-output converter that automatically detects the frequency range of speaker leads and phase of a factory audio system to assist in hooking up any aftermarket amplifier for a more modern entertainment setup.

KEYLOC’s patent-pending KEY algorithm automatically detects and analyzes crossovers, EQ, time delay, and all-pass filters present, and then level-matches the left and right audio channels. Once analyzed, it corrects these various filters for the smoothest frequency response possible and a clean, uncolored audio signal for all aftermarket gear.

Using KICKER’s FIT 2+™ advanced input design, KEYLOC has the most versatile input sensitivity in the car-audio aftermarket. Ranging from 125mV to 10V (low) or 1V to 40V (high), KEYLOC is prepared to work with nearly every vehicle on the road today.

12/14/2016, STILLWATER, USA – Long-time KICKER specialist employee Steve Outhier has retired from the company.

Outhier is calling it a career after 23 years of immersing himself into the Stillwater Designs® framework, spinning the KICKER® message and bringing an award-winning sound to cars and trucks around the world. Outhier officially retired from full-time work on Nov. 28, but will remain on contract with the company through the first of the year to assist during the Consumer Electronics Show and the transition to 2017.

Gregg Allman’s Duane, Bowie’s Ronson, Joe Cocker’s Leon, Sir Elton’s Olsson – Outhier was exactly that to Stillwater Design’s founder and friend Steve Irby for most of his working career, beginning in the ’70s as the lead guitarist to Irby’s blistering keyboards in the regionally successful rock-band Moses. That relationship eventually led to Outhier’s hire in July 1993 as the Advertising/Public-Relations Manager for Irby’s flourishing mobile-audio and electronics company, once again taking the spotlight when called upon to get the KICKER word and image to the media and consumers.

“As a bandmate with Steve (Outhier) in the early ’70’s, I knew he was a music connoisseur, in tune with great sound,” recollected Irby. “And a gearhead!  That’s the perfect combination for working at KICKER.”

Outhier concurred.  “We knew each other in college, and music brought us together. That love of music – playing it, listening to it, working on gear to reproduce it – has always been a constant.

“It’s more than 40 years now; seeing a friend’s dream grow from his garage to where we are today, and getting to share in the adventure, has been a lot of fun,” Outhier continued.  “Hard work? Sure. But mainly a lot of fun.”

Outhier led creative on KICKER ad campaigns and yearly catalogs during those years, putting a face on what was already one of the 12-volt industry’s top subwoofer and speaker brands. In 1993 he fine-tuned the message for KICKER’s original Solo-Baric® subwoofer, which used a single driver in a compact sealed box replicating a pair of subs performing in an isobaric enclosure. Then in 2000 he headed up the manufacturer’s appearance through the unveiling of the iconic Solo-Baric L7 square subwoofer (“20% more bass than its round counterpart”).

Since 2003 he served as the director for KICKER’s Product Planning team, assuring the manufacturer’s output goes from inception to store shelves every product cycle. He also headed up the process of gaining the numerous patents for KICKER’s products and technologies.

“The music store I went to as a kid had listening booths where we would listen to new records and do our best to learn the words and music,” Outhier said.  “We spend hours there. Why they put up with us is anybody’s guess, but I think they saw we truly loved the mysteries we found hidden in those grooves. Working here at KICKER with good people who share that love, and having the opportunity to contribute to more kids uncovering those same (musical) mysteries, is a great way to spend the years.”

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® has begun shipping its CompR® Loaded Enclosures, which deliver enhanced reliability and a sleek, blacked-out look housed in a trio of rugged, dual- and single-woofer enclosures. The enclosures are available for purchase at Authorized KICKER Dealers in-store and online. Introduced to the world on the KICKER UnMASKED! Live™ show in October, CompR Loaded Enclosures will retail from $279.95-$429.95. CompR Loaded Enclosures are also available at www.kicker.com.

New-for-2021, the CompR subwoofer housed in the Loaded Enclosure features an innovative “Forced-Air Cooling™” system that uses the woofer’s own cone movement to route more air through the CompR’s motor, forcing unwanted heat out of vents built into the backplate and allowing the sub to run 25 percent cooler than previous versions. Users get the bass they love, the sleek look, and the reliability expected.

The subwoofer also features the SoloKon™ cone system, defined by a signature red, double-stitched surround and all-polypropylene woofer cone. The CompR is engineered to maintain a superior level of volume and musical accuracy, while delivering reliable performance everyone can enjoy.

A single 12-inch enclosure is perfect solution when space limitations exist, while the 10- and 12-inch dual enclosures offer a pair of boisterous CompR woofers in a stout MDF box. The enclosure itself features rounded corners and heavy internal bracing for additional strength, and a front-facing port for the loudest possible bass. All enclosures are covered in plush, black carpeting with an embroidered KICKER logo.

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® will return to Slamology – one of the largest car-audio events in the country, and roll up in the 80-foot XRV (Xtreme Recreational Vehicle) tractor-trailer to a reserved space along “Audio Vendor Row.”  The outrageous JY Power™ “Cube” delivery truck will also be showing its 60,000-watt KICKER system throughout the weekend. The show runs June 8-9 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

The massive XRV showroom sports a new wrap and displays the full line of hands-on, KICKER audio gear. Under the XRV’s awning, KICKER install specialist Tim Smith will show his custom ’94 Chevy® C1500 and its audio system featuring an SSV Works™ MRB3 media controller, a pair of KICKER Q-Class 5-channel amplifiers, Q-Class speakers and CompRT® slim subwoofers.

In support of KICKER, the revamped JY Power Cube will draw crowds in the JY Power booth, showing off its prototype battery system that’s one-third the size of the original lithium power bank. The cells power the 60,000-watt KICKER system built to “demo” at extreme volumes.  The converted delivery truck features 40 Q-Class L7® 15-inch subwoofers powered by 20 2,400-watt KICKER amplifiers. The incredible ride also includes 12 KICKER weather-resistant amps powering 162 eight-inch coaxial speakers revealing glowing LEDs.

Additionally near the XRV will be Hunter Martin’s Q-Class-equipped, Ford® Super Duty F-350 pickup truck.  Martin, a JY Power custom fabricator, installed Q-Class point-source speakers in the doors and a CompRT 10-inch loaded subwoofer enclosure for bass.

“It images incredibly well,” said Travis Young, co-founder of JY Power. “The CompRT enclosure (with the Reflex™ passive subwoofer) fills out the bottom end beautifully.”

Martin’s F350 uses a Q-Class 5-channel amplifier and attached KICKER IQI™ Interface to the system for remote tuning capabilities.

Team SPLoud founder Andy Magill will feature “Cookie Monster” in the KICKER booth as well. In addition to KICKER door speakers, the Mitsubishi® Eclipse™ is equipped with an astounding KICKER SoloX™ 18-inch subwoofer, powered by a single KICKER KX2400.1 amplifier. Magill started the SPL (sound-pressure level) organization “Team SPLoud” and a social-media group of the same name.

In its 16th year, Slamology is billed as a “family-friendly, yet edgy” event by Donnie Babb, the show organizer and founder. USACi, MECA, IASCA and dB Drag Racing will all conduct multi-point, car-audio competitions at the show.

“We wanted a way to connect with our readers at Gauge Magazine and have a weekend-long party,” said Babb.

Randy Davis, a veteran of 25 years in Sales and Marketing for Stillwater Designs® and the KICKER® brand, announced his resignation to company officials as of May 29. Davis and his family will be relocating from Stillwater, Oklahoma to the Fort Collins, Colorado area to be closer to family. A sendoff party was held on his final day at Stillwater Designs in honor of his service to the brand.

Davis was instrumental in coining the KICKER slogan “Livin’ Loud®” after hearing a similar phrase uttered in a movie featuring the Rat Pack. Davis then helped to construct a grassroots marketing plan using action-sports athletes and motocross legends Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael and Travis Pastrana, putting the brand in front of thousands of new consumers.

“There is no doubt KICKER proudly bears the mark of Randy Davis,” said KICKER President Steve Irby. “It’s hard for me to imagine KICKER without Randy, and without question he will be missed.”

He began his work with the KICKER sales team in March 1990 as a regional manager. During his tenure, he also held the titles of national sales manager, global sales manager, and European sales manager with a stint in Ireland before returning to Stillwater in 2011, where he spent the last five years. Davis recollected some of his fondest memories, which included the heyday of sound-offs, and KICKER demo vehicles like the 1988 Astro van with nine 18-inch subwoofers, and the trio of 1993 Caprice wagons – Orca, Moby and Shamu – with original Solo-Baric round subwoofers. He also enjoyed his time representing the brand in Europe.

“Nothing like driving a KICKER demo car on the Autobahn,” he said.

STILLWATER, USA – KICKER® rolls into the Miami International Boat Show 2023 with revolutionary tower systems, amplifiers and speakers. The show is located at the Miami Marine Stadium Park and Basin, running from February 15-19.

KICKER’s booth will be located in the Convention Center, number MB6065. KICKER Marine products will also be available for purchase on-site at authorized dealer El Capitan Sports Center, located at booth MB3508.

KICKER Real Marine™ means boaters can have confidence and peace of mind when it comes to their audio systems. Real Marinegear undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets or exceeds marine industry standards for UV exposure and humidity and saltwater exposure. All KICKER Marine Speakers are weather-proof thanks to KICKER’s Real Marine standards. KICKER Marine Power Amplifiers are developed from the ground up by KICKER engineers as authentic, element-battling marine amplifiers, with key moisture-deterring features. KICKER Marine Wiring and Accessories set the brand apart from others – all ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) and USCG (U.S. Coast Guard) compliant, including certified MRBF fusing and fuse holders.

KICKER’s new KMXL HLCD Coaxial Speakers will be featured in the booth. These horn-loaded speakers build upon the success of the KMTC and KMFC Horn-Loaded Tower Systems, widely recognized in the marine industry as the new standard in HLCD (horn-loaded compression-driver) tower-speaker design. This makeup gives the KMXL Series a sonic performance that is incredibly smooth and easy to listen to, even at extremely high volumes.

The revolutionary KMTC and KMFC 11-inch HLCD Tower Systems will also be on display. Another industry first is its specialized mating socket, which allows for easy removal and re-attachment of the speaker at the end of the cruise, all without removing a single wire from the speaker.

STILLWATER, USA – Citing reasons that relate to the current pandemic, KICKER® is announcing its choice to cancel plans to exhibit live at November’s annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

KICKER had planned a booth showcasing product, demo vehicles and celebrity appearances for attendees prior to this week’s decision. The mobile-audio company has also decided to suspend all corporate travel and events through December.

“Management continues to make the health and well-being of our employees and customers the top priority,” said Kevin Campbell, Director of Global Marketing. “This is a tough decision, but one we feel must be made.”

Before this decision, KICKER Corporate had plans to attend the Sand Sports Super Show in Costa Mesa, Calif., and MERA KnowledgeFest in Dallas, along with the SEMA Show. In August, KICKER had canceled its appearance at Dallas KnowledgeFest, just prior to the event itself postponing until December.

No further details are available at present time. If more information should become available, KICKER will provide it as warranted.

STILLWATER, USA – As a result of industry-wide announcements from manufacturers, and the subsequent requests to management regarding possible pricing adjustments to KICKER® products, Stillwater Designs® is releasing the following statement:

As a result of federal tariffs imposed months ago, and in line with previous statements from company administration, Stillwater Designs will ultimately be forced to make some pricing adjustments on its KICKER products and has scheduled them to occur in January 2019.

Stillwater Designs has long been aware of the stress that changing prices could have on KICKER authorized dealers, distributors and consumers, and is very sensitive to this important issue. During November and December, we will continue to formulate the best plan going forward to ease the burden of these changes on our dealers and their customers in the upcoming year.

In the meantime, we will continue to keep heavy inventory stock on hand through the holidays to cover our current KICKER sales promotions and dealer incentives.  Despite our current circumstances, KICKER customers can be assured that we will have their best interests in mind as we develop a viable plan that will work for everyone involved.

STILLWATER, USA – Stillwater Designs, the manufacturers of KICKER audio gear, is renowned for more than the innovative products it provides to the world’s audio lovers. It is also known for the extraordinary care the company takes in empowering its employees, which was shown recently as the company was named “favorite manufacturer” by its city news media.

Inside global headquarters, logistical challenges were quickly overcome by organizing “work from home” access for entire departments, including Administration, Sales and Marketing, Research and Development, Customer Service and Technical Support. Those working inside KICKER HQ were provided masks and gloves. Social distancing protocols were quickly called into action and continue to be employed. Deep cleanings still occur nightly.

To keep spirits up, marketing director Kevin Campbell shares a daily newsletter, highlighting current news and events around the industry, great places to visit and even some of his favorite cars. The company sponsors a weekly luncheon for employees currently working inside HQ, with catering from local establishments. Even KICKER sales representatives like Tom Ebeling of Tree and Associates (Chicago) have shown appreciation by providing ice cream to employees during recent lunches.

“I’m amazed at how our people have stepped up to the challenges brought on by a magnitude of increased business during a very stressful time – with many even working from home,” said Steve Irby, SD founder and president. “Our weekly lunches are a gesture of our appreciation for all they’re doing. And in addition to being a blessing to our employees, the lunches have provided much needed support for our local restaurants that are struggling during this time.”
