Seattle, WA, February 2nd, 2017 – AudioControl (audiocontrol.com) has promoted Chris Bennett to National Sales Director - Mobile Audio. Bennett’s expanded role will enable him to oversee the North American sales channel as increased demand for the company’s best-in-class OEM interface solutions and DSP-powered processors and amplifiers has resulted in significant growth for the AudioControl brand.

AudioControl’s continued success in the aftermarket car audio category can be attributed to innovations that directly address consumer demand, such as OEM upgrade solutions and DSP calibration capability, enabling dealers to give their customers superior sound—even in cars where changing the factory radio is prohibitive. “Our engineers have created solutions such as our proprietary patented AccuBASS® circuit, our MILC™ level-matching technology and our GTO™ signal sensing circuit that help installers overcome OEM integration hurdles to deliver the finest possible sound to their customers,” explained AudioControl CEO Alex Camara. “These advances have led to significant growth for the AudioControl brand and we are confident that Chris and our team will continue to push forward on our exciting and innovative product and sales strategy in mobile audio with great success.”

At the 2017 CES show in Las Vegas, AudioControl unveiled two new 6-channel amplifiers, the LC-6.1200 and the D-6.1200, featuring high-current output and a solid one-piece aluminum chassis. Both amplifiers deliver 125 watts into 4 ohms/200 watts into 2 ohms and 400 watts bridged into 4 ohms. Each pair of channels is bridgeable, giving installers unprecedented flexibility from a single amplifier. The flagship D-6.1200 adds advanced DSP functionality for precise fine-tuning. Both AudioControl 6.1200 models are the first automotive amplifiers to offer 8 summable speaker-level inputs, eliminating the need for clunky external adapters and making OEM integration possible even for the most complex factory systems. Innovations such as input summing have 12-volt installers worldwide turning to AudioControl as their premium aftermarket car audio solutions provider. All AudioControl automotive amplifiers are designed and assembled in the USA from components sourced globally and come with a 5-year warranty.

“I am excited to be part of the AudioControl team, focused on pushing ahead with a forward-looking mobile audio growth plan as the company’s National Sales Director,” commented Chris Bennett. “We offer solutions that enable our dealers to be creative in their system designs and differentiate themselves from competitors with superior products that transform the entertainment experience in todays’ car audio systems.”

Ideal for pit or paddock, it reflects radiant heat to keep fuel cool

Avon Lake, Ohio (January 31, 2017)…DEI now offers a protective heat reflecting Fuel Can Cover in a new 11 gallon dump can size.

Race fuel manufacturers and suppliers typically recommend fuel to be covered or kept in the shade at the pit or paddock as heat exposure effects the performance and shelf life of race fuels, especially expensive oxygenated fuels. DEI’s new Reflective Dump Can Cover prevents the need to constantly move fuel into the shade to stay cool or covering it with a blanket. Lightweight and durable with a custom fit for an 11 gallon dump can, it slips on and off in seconds allowing the can to be placed where it is most needed; even if in direct sunlight.

This new convenient size may fit other brands of 11 gallon dump cans and joins DEI’s previously introduced 5 gallon race metal can cover, #010467.

1-25-2017, TechCrunch -- Connected vehicles are booming – they’re often mentioned in the same breath as autonomous cars, but are much more achievable from a technical perspective. Car makers are increasingly making on-board cellular data connections a standard option, too, and now we have some insight into why – a survey of automotive company executives found that they share the opinion that connected cars are huge revenue generators, with around 10x the earning power of the average non-connected vehicle.

The auto execs, responding to a survey created by KPMG with a sample group of 1,000 high-level car company employees, found that 76 percent of respondents said connected cars generate tenfold what a standard vehicle can produce in terms of available revenue streams, and 71 percent said the impact is so significant that just tracking unit sales to measure relative carmaker performance is an outdated measure that no longer paints an accurate picture.

The survey also found that 83 percent of execs agree that they’ll derive revenue from data shared by vehicle owners, and that they also need to focus on information security and privacy as a key value to attract customers in the future as a result.

Anniversary highlighted by 2015 Ram truck build at 2017 CES

LONG BEACH, CALIF., January 25, 2017 (MEDIAWIRE) – Thirty-five years ago, a company that had already made its name in the development of the VHS cassette and player, as well as multiple television and audio technologies, decided to turn its considerable expertise toward making great-sounding car audio. This year, JVC Mobile Entertainment commemorated three-and-a-half decades of driving experience enhancement during the 2017 CES. Its 800-square-foot-booth featured a 2015 Ram 1500 adorned with the official "35 Years Strong" logo.

"New “El Kameleon” screen innovations, the addition of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, vehicle integration through iDataLink Maestro, plus accommodation of multiple streaming media services, signal a significant technological jump that can't be ignored," said Hazim Jainoor, marketing manager of the JVC Mobile Entertainment brand. "While 35 is not the typical celebration interval for anniversaries, we felt it was appropriate to recognize the company's accomplishments this year. In five or 15 more years, we will be looking at a whole new set of technologies to celebrate."

The Ram 1500 was outfitted by Misha Munoz, owner of Divine 1 Customs in Henderson, Nev. The facility is renowned for its celebrity builds, transforming vehicles for names such as Deadmau5, TJ Lavin, Carey Hart, Tim Love, Guy Fieri, Corey Harrison, Sergio Romo and Axel Rose.

The full-featured audio / video system is headed by the JVC KW-V820BT multimedia receiver with Apple CarPlay and SiriusXM® satellite radio in a Metra dash kit. The receiver’s left and right channels each connect to a KS-AX5104 amplifier, powering a trio of CS-ZX640 coaxial speakers in a fiberglass enclosure bolted along the lower portion of each door. For the low end, a KS-5101D mono-block amplifier drives three CS-GD1210 subwoofers in sealed, separated enclosures made of MDF and fiberglass.

The truck’s seats were reupholstered in red leather by Katzkin, which also covers the door speaker enclosures. The same color was used to treat the trim around the air vents. On the outside, PPG-supplied paint creates a patina look to simulate original red giving way to primer white. The truck also received performance upgrades with a K&N cold-air intake and Ride Tech suspension. The original 22-inch factory wheels were finished in chrome and fitted with Falken tires.

“We had a blast putting this vehicle together,” said Munoz, a 20-year installer and fabricator. “It’s especially memorable because we also celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Divine 1 Customs this past year. We’ve built some great cars for JVC and really value the relationship we have with the brand. Congrats on the 35th anniversary, and we are honored to have a part in it.”

The 35th anniversary Ram truck will make its rounds throughout the year, visiting both KnowledgeFest shows in April and August, as well as select distributor shows and consumer events. JVC will also be developing promotional materials with the commemorative logo. For more information, visit mobile.jvc.com.

1-25-2017, Clearwater, FL -- EchoMaster, global manufacturer of vehicles safety technology for consumer and commercial drivers introduced a brand new safety camera: CAM-MV6. With a total of six different viewing angles, this camera can be mounted on the front or rear of a vehicle for enhanced visibility, improving driver safety.

CAM-MV6, is unique among EchoMaster’s many aftermarket cameras in that it’s designed for numerous viewing angles. This makes the camera capable of producing a comprehensive view of a driver’s surroundings. Capable of mounting on either a lip or a flat surface, it’s designed to function as either a front or a rear camera. What sets this model apart is its unique extended view capabilities. This allows the camera, and by extension, the driver, to see around obstructions that could block potential dangers like oncoming cars or pedestrians.

Seeing More with the CAM-MV6

A convenient button, mounted within easy reach of the driver, allows the driver to choose the extended views. Giving them full control of the blind spots they need to eliminate according to their current situation.  When using as a front camera, the camera offers extended views of the left and right sides, in a split-screen view. Which eliminates the need for drivers to inch slowly forward when trying to turn onto a road with trees, signs, or other obstacles blocking their view of oncoming traffic. The camera can actually see around the object, giving the driver a clear and consistent view of oncoming traffic. When used as a rear camera, drivers are given extended visibility down and to the right and left of their bumper. This capability greatly simplifies challenging situations like backing out into traffic, or attaching a boat or trailer to a hitch.

Along with multiple adjustable views, the CAM-MV6 features a wide 180 degree view. Many rearview cameras on the market offer only a 90 to 120 degree view, meaning they can miss things that fall into their blind spots. This extended viewing angle was designed to offer the driver the ability to see around obstacles. Rather than dangerously inching forward or backward into traffic, the camera “peeks” around the object, keeping the driver and their vehicle positioned safely out of the way. When used as a reverse camera, CAM-MV6 is a useful tool for drivers who tow, the low angle view can be used to help guide a boat or trailer into a hitch.

Key Features:

  • Sensor type: ⅓” CMOS
  • Water/debris-proof rating: IP67
  • Viewing angle: 180 degrees

CAM-MV6 is available from authorized EchoMaster dealers worldwide at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Business Insider, 1-17-2017 --Nissan will begin self-driving car tests in London next month, according to Reuters.

The tests mark the first conducted by the Japanese automaker on public roads in Europe, and will utilize modified versions of the Nissan LEAF electric car.

London has established itself as one of the more popular autonomous vehicle public test sites, possibly due to the challenging nature of the city’s roads, which offer a difficult test and prime data-gathering opportunity for the automaker.

London is quickly becoming a hub of self-driving car tests. In addition to this forthcoming test, the following tests have been announced or begun:

  • In early 2015, certain localities on the outskirts of London and around England moved to permit self-driving tests. The trials were to last around 18 to 36 months, though none were to be conducted on public roads.
  • Volvo will deploy unmarked self-driving cars in the city sometime in 2018. This is particularly noteworthy, as the vast majority of autonomous cars on the roads until this point have some sort of special marking on them, perhaps making consumers behave differently around them.
  • Driverless shuttles deployed as part of Greenwich’s Gateway program were unveiled in early 2016. The larger project is part of a public-private partnership with the city in the Greenwich area.

This is likely a result of London’s relatively diverse roadways. The city has wide main streets along with windy, centuries-old roads. Further, unlike tests in the US, the AI powering the vehicles tested needs to adapt to driving on the left side of the road. To perfect the systems behind self-driving cars, it's best for them to be exposed to as many different environments as possible.

However, it's still unclear if London will remain a leader moving forward. The US federal government and certain individual states are increasingly signaling that they will become friendlier to autonomous cars, which could prompt companies to test in the US rather than the UK. Further, it's still unclear what impact Brexit will have on companies angling to test and eventually sell autonomous vehicles in the UK.

BI Intelligence, Business Insider’s premium research service, has compiled a detailed report on self-driving cars that examines the major strides automakers and tech companies have made to overcome the barriers currently preventing fully autonomous cars from hitting the market. Further, the report examines global survey results showing where fully autonomous cars are highly desired.

Here are some key takeaways from the report:

  • Three barriers have been preventing fully autonomous cars from hitting the road: 1) high technological component prices; 2) varying degrees of consumer trust in the technology; and 3) relatively nonexistent regulations. However, in the past six months, there have been many advances in overcoming these barriers.
  • Technology has been improving as new market entrants find innovative ways to expand on existing fully autonomous car technology. As a result, the price of the components required for fully autonomous cars has been dropping.
  • Consumer trust in fully autonomous vehicle technology has increased in the past two years.
  • California became the first US state to propose regulations. California's regulations stipulate that a fully autonomous car must have a driver behind the wheel at all times, discouraging Google's and Uber's idea of a driverless taxi system.
