Cooler more powerful intake charge for improved engine performance

Avon Lake, OH (October 26, 2016)…DEI’s CryO2 Intercooler Sprayer Kit harnesses the super cooling cryogenic properties of CryO2 to dramatically lower intake charge temperatures for more horsepower at lower long term cost than nitrous. Less expensive to purchase and refill than nitrous, this cost effective alternative for a boost in HP can be used for any vehicle including diesels that could use more power for the buck. A non-invasive system, it enhances the thermal transfer ability of the intercooler to lower air temperatures as much as 35% and as low as 50°F.

For turbo or supercharged systems, the sprayer mounts directly to the front of the intercooler and vents CO2 directly onto the cooling fins. The system can be configured to be activated by either a full WOT micro-switch, or controlled manually with a momentary push button. The complete bolt-on kit now offers an optional CryO2 adjustable duration timer switch (Part # 080203) for automatic on/off pulsing and a water sprayer kit (Part # 080140) for even greater I/C efficiency.

CryO2 Intercooler Sprayer kit includes:

  • 10 lb. tank and mounting brackets
  • Cryogenic solenoid valve
  • 14 ft. stainless steel braided supply line
  • Full WOT and arming switches with momentary push button
  • CO2 fittings and electrical hardware
  • 16” x 5” front-mount intercooler sprayer and hardware

The Onyx Series™ Flexible Heat Shield is DEI’s next generation of heat protection performance.  Using a combination of advanced textiles and a reliable standoff bracket design, the ONYX Series™ Flexible Heat Shield with its rich, black finish, provides maximum cooling and heat dissipation; preventing heat soak and burns.

DEI’s new Onyx Series Heat Shield joins two durable materials together to form a dual-layer design. The outer layer is a heat-treated glass fiber impregnated with molten aluminum that is formed into a tight weave for durability and strength. The inside material is a specially treated, high temperature resistant fabric (89% silica) that withstands extreme heat – up to 1350°F.  The outer edge features a surge stitch and all hardware is stainless steel.

This proprietary textile technology combined with DEI’s unique standoff stainless steel bracket stand-off design provides maximum cooling and heat dissipation. Designed to be flexible, the shield fits many different applications and pipe diameters. In addition to use as a protective barrier on exhaust pipes, auto or motorcycle, the shield is recommended to use as a heat barrier between transmissions, brake lines, hoses, electrical wiring, gas tanks, body panels, bumpers and more.

The new EXO Series Exhaust and Pipe Wrap is a thermal wrap for headers and exhaust pipes that have repeated exposure to abrasion or high impact road or trail conditions. The EXO Series Wrap is designed to deliver both superior heat protection and resistance to harsh road, track or off road conditions, unlike any other wrap on the market today.

Developed for long-lasting durability, the EXO Series features a dual layer material constructed of high temperature glass fiber, encased in a 304 grade stainless steel exoskeleton—tough enough for the most extreme desert, dirt track or off-road conditions. With DEI’s new Air Gap technology, an insulating air barrier that keeps direct contact of the glass fiber wrap off the hot surface of the pipe, makes the EXO Series Exhaust and Pipe Wrap the preferred premium wrap for any truck or vehicle off-road or on the street.

The Exo Series Exhaust and Pipe Wrap is currently offered in both tan and black in a 1.5” width, and 10 and 20 foot lengths. Installation is made easier with the exterior exoskeleton that “locks in” when overlapped for a secure fit. Recommended use includes exhaust pipes, headers or for spot protection of pipes and components.

Formed in 1995, Design Engineering, Inc.™ (DEI) is a major U.S. manufacturer and supplier of high performance automotive aftermarket products selling worldwide to a large number of commercial markets – automotive and racing, V-Twin, Sportbike/Metric, ATV/UTV/Off-road, 12 Volt/Car Audio, Industrial, Marine, and Aeronautical. DEI, located in Avon Lake, OH, specializes in the development of thermal and acoustic performance products as well as cryogenic intake systems and related accessories under the CryO2™ brand, acoustical insulation, sound deadening products under the popular Boom Mat™ brand, as well and a full line of performance coolant additives under the brand Radiator Relief™.

DEI has now introduced heat reflective Fuel Injector and Sensor Covers that are available in packs of two, four, six or eight, that efficiently reflects direct and radiant heat away from injectors and sensors. Constructed of high-temperature rated glass fiber material bonded to a heat reflective aluminized material, DEI’s Fuel Injector and Sensor Covers work well on most any engine configuration with stock or aftermarket injectors and sensors.

The heat reflective covers are made with a split design allowing each to wrap around the individual injector/sensor and then secured with a sewn-in hook and loop fastening edge. There is no need to remove the injector.

Excessive heat can cause performance and factory fuel injectors and sensors to be at risk of vapor lock or heat soak which can cause rough idling, slow starting or other potential serious engine problems. Also, cooler injectors perform more efficiently with a more consistent throttle response.

Building on the popularity of DEI’s ONYX Series product offerings, DEI is now introducing the ONYX Series Black Turbo Shield for smaller sized turbos including Garrett, Mitsubishi and others. The ONYX Series Shield is available for the GT22 (part #010161) or the GT25 (part #010163), or as a kit: GT22 Kit (part #010162) or GT25 (part #010164).  For correct sizing, DEI recommends referring to the sizing chart located at www.designengineering.com.

The kit includes the black turbo shield made of premium heat resistant textiles and newly designed stainless steel attachment anchors, a 2” x 15’ premium roll of DEI black exhaust wrap, two stainless steel locking ties, and a roll of stainless steel locking wire.
