The two models with 9-inch screens feature Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capabilities

Torrance, Calif. (Aug. 15, 2017) – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. is now shipping two new in-dash Restyle systems for the Jeep Wrangler. The i209-WRA and X209-WRA have 9-inch touch screens and are the first aftermarket Wrangler systems equipped with weather resistant features along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

“Our research with Wrangler owners shows they push their vehicles to the limit during driving adventures but still enjoy the comforts of modern technology,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “We’ve addressed this with our newest Restyle systems for the Wrangler, which can handle inclement weather but are also enhanced with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features.”

9-Inch Restyle Dash Systems

The X209-WRA and i209-WRA Restyle systems are Alpine engineered for the 2011-2017 Jeep Wrangler.

These models are Alpine’s third generation Restyle systems for the Wrangler, and they feature a 9-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 4-way swipe control Graphical User Interface (GUI). The screen is framed with an aggressively-styled dash bezel fitted for the Wrangler. The systems come with Wrangler-specific wiring harnesses for plug and play installation.

The X209-WRA is an AM/FM/CD/DVD system with an embedded navigation system. It was a winner of the 2017 CES Innovations award, recognized for outstanding design and engineering in the In-Vehicle Audio/Video category. The i209-WRA has the same basic feature set, but without a CD/DVD slot or embedded navigation system.

New Features

Part of the fun of owning a Wrangler is to use it for exploring, but Mother Nature can put a damper on those plans when driving with the Wrangler’s top off. The X209-WRA and i209-WRA can keep up with the adventures even when they’re exposed to dirt, dust and light rain. The 9-inch touchscreen and bezel are rated at IP53 for protection against dust with limited ingress and fresh water spray up to 60° vertical, so the journey can go on uninterrupted.

The X209-WRA and i209-WRA are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both models “Work with Apple CarPlay” and let iPhone users make and receive calls, access text messages, play music, and get directions in a way that allows them to stay focused on the road. Apple CarPlay is accessed through the capacitive touch screen or the “Voice” hard button to activate Siri voice control and is compatible with iPhone 5 and later (iPhone must be connected via Apple lightning cable).

The X209-WRA and i209-WRA are also Android Auto Compatible. Android Auto was designed with safety in mind. With larger touch targets, a simplified interface, and easy-to-use voice actions, it's designed to minimize distraction so drivers can stay focused on the road (requires both a USB cable and Bluetooth connection; requires an Android™ phone running 5.0 [Lollipop] or higher and the Android Auto app). Android Auto is accessed through the touch screen or the “Voice” hard button with voice control.

The X209-WRA is a match for drivers who prefer an embedded navigation system. When used off the beaten path where cellular service and smartphone maps are not accessible, the X209-WRA’s embedded navigation will continue to operate with route guidance. When used in major metropolitan areas, the navigation system is supplemented with free lifetime RDS traffic monitoring from HERE®. In contrast, the i209-WRA is suited for drivers who are comfortable with smartphone maps and don’t need an embedded navigation system.

Other Entertainment and Information Features

The X209-WRA and i209-WRA have a suite of entertainment and information features including:

  • Audio entertainment: HD Radio™ programming, Pandora® control, FLAC music playback via USB, and SiriusXM-Ready™ (requires tuner and subscription, sold separately)
  • Video entertainment: Built-in DVD player on the X209-WRA, or optional add-on DVD player for the i209-WRA (DVE-5300, sold separately). Another HDMI input can be added to either system via the KCX-630HD HDMI Selector Interface (sold separately).
  • HDMI output for digital connection to an optional rear seat entertainment system
  • Bluetooth® wireless technology: Simple Secure Pairing (SSP), phone battery and cellular signal level icons, call waiting and audio streaming
  • MediaXpander® technology: For better playback of compressed media and enhanced call sound quality
  • iDatalink® Maestro® module: The included module retains select Wrangler controls (like the voice activated media player, voice activated Bluetooth® wireless technology, steering wheel controls, premium audio amplifier integration and visual parking assistance) and displays select vehicle information (like tire pressure, battery voltage, door status, engine codes and user customizable gauges).
  • “My Favorites” feature allows for customized quick-access screens with shortcuts to the most-used features.
  • The X209-WRA includes Airbiquity® technology which uses the companion Alpine Connect smartphone app to access content from apps like Alpine Go! for collecting desired destinations for future visits, iHeartRadio®, Yelp® and Glympse®.

System Expansion

The X209-WRA and i209-WRA can control other Wrangler accessories for system expansion. When used with the optional KAC-001 External Accessory Control Module (sold separately), each model provides touch screen control of up to eight accessories like a light bar, winch, headlights, etc. A graphical icon and text label can be assigned to each accessory for on-screen identification. Each accessory can be configured for a pulsed, latched or momentary output.

When a rear view camera is added to the X209-WRA or i209-WRA, a parking guide overlay is automatically added to the rear image on the touchscreen. If the Wrangler has multiple camera systems, they can be controlled with the KCX-C250MC Multi-Camera Selector Interface (sold separately) which allows up to three camera systems to be controlled from the screen for one-touch viewing of the camera images.

Availability

The X209-WRA (SRI $4,000) and i209-WRA (SRI $2,200) are available now, visit www.alpine-usa.com for a store locator.

Clearwater, FL (August 14, 2017) EchoMaster’s General Motors Blind Spot Avoidance Systems, featuring perfect-fit mirror/camera caps, full integration into the factory screen and driver behavior, and custom GUI for manual camera activation, are now available exclusively to Authorized EchoMaster Dealers.

Featuring solutions for General Motors full-size and mid-size trucks as well as full-size SUVs from 2014-2018 (2015-2018 full-size SUV and HD trucks), EchoMaster is leading the way on bringing OEM features & quality products to the Aftermarket dealer channel, who crave the same quality and technology as car manufacturers.

As demand for blind spot awareness continues to grow among car owners, one of the biggest categories for EchoMaster, collision avoidance, offers the opportunity for dealers to capture sales growth in the aftermarket arena, as more customers adopt front, side, and rear view cameras.

The seamless integration combining EchoMaster Pro safety products, powered by PAC technology serves up a simple, safe driving experience, eliminating common blind spots that lurk around the vehicle.  Turn signals trigger the side lane change assistance cameras, which are especially dangerous for larger vehicles such as SUVs and trucks.  Vehicles that may be hiding in the side blind spots are shown to the driver on the OEM display prior to changing lanes, reducing the risk of a collision.

Each kit includes two Stealth Side View Mirror Cameras designed to discreetly replace existing trim fascia on the vehicle’s exterior mirrors, covered with a three-year warranty. Utilizing six screen modes, smart technology enables camera activation based on driver behavior, using left and right turn signals and placing the truck in reverse.  These systems alternatively allow for manual activation by the driver as well.

EchoMaster’s General Motors Blind Spot Integrated Camera systems are available for full-size, mid-size trucks as well as full-size SUV models from authorized EchoMaster dealers at a suggested retail price of $819.00. Additional an optional wireless trailering camera and third brake light CHSML camera are also available.

Innovative President Jason Digos Will Represent Aquatic AV’s Marine, Spa, and Harley-Davidson® Lines in the Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada Markets

Apache Junction, Ariz., Aug. 11, 2017 — Innovative Sales & Marketing (www.innovativesales.us) has announced that it has been named San Jose, Calif.-based Aquatic AV’s manufacturer’s representative for the southwest market, including Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada for the company’s marine, spa, and Harley-Davidson® A/V lines, effective immediately.

“Jason is an industry vet and has gained a first-rate reputation amongst his peers,” said Kyle Aeschliman, Aquatic AV V.P. - National Sales Manager. “The southwest territory is vital and growing by leaps and bounds, so we needed a rep that knows the market and could hit the ground running. Jason comes highly recommended and we look forward to growing the Aquatic AV brand with him in Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Nevada.”

Founded in 2005, Aquatic AV started out developing specialized AV products for the Spa industry. Aquatic AV quickly became popular in the industry and soon the majority of major spa manufactures were using its products for their AV equipment. Following that success, Aquatic AV soon realized there was a need for these unique products in other markets that perform in harsh environments, such as the marine and motorcycle categories.

“Aquatic AV has developed much needed and specialized AV gear for a number of industries,” explained Digos. “Whether on the lake, in the backyard spa, or on the open road, Aquatic AV products perform and we are proud to represent them in the southwest territory.”

8-12-2017 -- The second day of KnowledgeFest 2017 marked its first full day of workshops and manufacturer trainings, which was capped by a keynote presentation by world-renowned speaker and podcast host, Brett Gajda. The keynote, titled "Accelerate Your Success," discussed how business owners can better identify and attain success in their business and personal lives: through strong, conscious leadership.

"If leadership is how you do your day-to-day, you need to show up as much as possible," Gajda said. "I started to think about how the man I want to be would eat a hamburger. It sounds silly but it worked. As I sat alone I thought about how I might eat that burger in front of a date I really liked. Leadership is about being conscious and present. Be the person you want to be. Slow down and enjoy the flavor."

The presentation included personal anecdotes along with inspirational quotes and concepts by well-known authors. One such concept was from the book, "The Compound Effect," by Darren Hardy, which discusses how the little things we do can make a huge impact over time. "The book explains that 3rd gear isn't sexy. 1st gear, when we take off, that's sexy. 5th gear, when we're at top speed, that's sexy. 3rd gear is stocking shelves and checking inventory. That's when we check out mentally. Most people aren't willing to go through 3rd gear," Gajda added.

Highlights of the day's seminars included seminar like High Res - The Next Big Thing, with instructors Bryan Schmitt and Matt Schaeffer. It discussed how high resolution audio products are changing the game for customers and allowing retailers the opportunity to reinvigorate a category recently seen to be on the decline.

MEA President Chris Cook hosted his first classes in many years, including the course, "Profitable Merchandising: Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) Optimization." In the course, he conveyed best practices from many years in 12-volt as a former employee of companies like Circuit City, where it was important to justify both cutting costs and keeping costs, like paying for employee lunches during the busiest work days.
The show floor also opened for the first time during the event, revealing both a host of new product offerings and new faces. Companies making their KnowledgeFest debut included off-road speaker and amplifier manufacturer Probox, Brazillian company SounDigital and startup dashcam maker, Waylens.

KnowledgeFest continues through Monday, finishing with the 2017 Industry Awards on Monday at 6:30pm. Find out more about events and seminars at kfest.me

New month-to-month payment structure offers lower training cost, increased flexibility

DALLAS, – August 11, 2017 (MEDIAWIRE) – Kingpin University (KPU) announced at KnowledgeFest that is it introducing a new pay plan for its professional installation, retail management and fabrication training courses. The three-tiered membership structure allows store owners to send one or more staff to multiple training sessions and make manageable monthly payments.
The KPU Membership Plan lets stores purchase a certain number of credits, each of which allows a store employee to attend a course of his or her choice. Plans are available with packages of two, five or 12 credits. Additional incentives include 15 percent discounts on Kingpin University products, as well as discounts of up to 20 percent on professional fabrication template packages.
"We created the membership plans because we want to make professional training more accessible for store owners and their staff," said Jason Kranitz, lead instructor for KPU. "Previously, a store or staff member had to prepay a significant amount for tuition, which limited their resources. With the new credit-based plans, stores have the flexibility to schedule staff members to attend trainings throughout the year while making one predicable payment per month."
Credits are effective for 12 months from the date of purchase and cover course tuition and in-class materials. Travel, accommodations and meals are paid by the attendee. Costs for the membership plans are divided into 12 consecutive monthly payments: $79.99 per month for two credits, $149.99 per month for five credits, or $299.99 per month for 12 credits.

HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK – August 9, 2017 -–VOXX Electronics Corporation (VEC), announced that the company will begin shipping the new Flashlogic FLRSBA later this year and will show and conduct a product introduction at the MERA KnowledgeFest in Dallas, Texas on August 11, 2017.

“We are very excited to announce the scheduled release of our first fully integrated remote start / security system with a built in FLCAN – the FLRSBA. The FLRSBA was developed in conjunction with Automotive Data Solutions (ADS) and brings together the advanced technology of ADS with the core VOXX security and remote start features,” said Aron Demers, Senior Vice President, VOXX Electronics Corporation.

Frank Barassi, President of Automotive Data Solutions Inc. (ADS), also stated, “VOXX and ADS have been great partners for ten years. This valued relationship empowers us to together launch innovative remote start solutions. The FLRSBA is the culmination of years of effort and will launch with 102 different firmware, cover 7600+ vehicles, and designed to support many more advanced solutions coming soon. We are proud of the result and hope mobile electronic retailers and distributors embrace this product; and that we together continue to collaborate to ensure our industry sustains itself for the many years to come.”

The FLRSBA incorporates many of the patented VOXX features such as Real Panic Sound horn honk and Custom Code override. It also has dual built-in data converters allowing dealers to add any Prestige, Code Alarm or Pursuit transmitter kit without needing an external data converter.  The FLRSBA is also CarLink compatible for telematics control.  VOXX will also be offering an advanced security option that adds a siren with extended harness and access to the built-in digital tilt sensor.

The FLRSBA is t-harness compatible for low current remote start applications.  VOXX will also be releasing over 20 t-harness kits for thousands of vehicle applications – including Toyota and Mazda. The support side of the “BA” is as impressive as the product.  We will have a uniquely custom vehicle by vehicle – wire by wire – installation guide for each vehicle application.

Demers continued.  “We are expanding the Vehicle Security / Remote Start & Data Start offering with the FLRSBA, not replace anything in the Prestige, Code Alarm, Pursuit or current Flashlogic Data Start line-up.  The FLRSBA can also replace our current “vehicle specific” data start systems, giving our dealers the option of a “one module” solution with different vehicle specific harnesses – increasing flexibility and reducing carrying costs.  However, we will still carry the majority of our complete kit module and harness applications – giving you a choice.  We want to give our dealers what they are asking for, and continue to lead the industry in bringing new innovative products to market”.

Dealer and MSRP pricing will be released September 1, 2017.

8-9-2017, Mobile Electronics -- People sure do love their toys. Hot tubs, Harley-Davidsons, and Hunt yachts are a few on that list of disposable income pleasures. For Aquatic AV, outfitting those products with the best sound possible is its specialty.

The San Jose, Calif. -based company, founded in 2005, focuses on three categories—spa, marine, and Harley-Davidson motorcycle stereos and speakers. While the spa lineup is still the core of the company’s business—it supplies spa stereos, speakers, power supplies, and wiring harnesses—Aquatic AV is currently focusing on strengthening its marine business and Harley-Davidson line.

“The majority of our business is definitely with the spa industry,” said Kyle Aeschliman, vice president/national sales manager for Aquatic AV. “But marine and Harley are right behind that. We have been trying to build up the marine part of the business for the last eight years.”

Aquatic AV marine stereos are not only fully featured like many premium traditional car stereos, but come with marine grade environmental protection which is essential considering the exposure to salt, sand, and sea. Each is designed and built to withstand the harsh conditions associated with use in marine and boat applications.

For instance, the newest marine stereo, the AQ-MP-5UBT-S, is not only waterproof and IP55 rated, but offers Bluetooth, USB, and built-in SiriusXM receiver which grants access to more than 170 satellite radio stations. It features an onboard 288 Watt amplifier that can power up to 8x speakers.

The lineup also includes BC, or Bluecube Hide-Away Marine Stereos. The AQ-BC-5UBT plays music wirelessly via a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, USB, or MP3 device. It is IP65 rated for use in any environment that is dry, wet, muddy, or damp.

“We also have 61/2-inch speakers which are doing really well for us,” Aeschliman said. “The line also includes a 10-inch subwoofer and waterproof 4-channel amplifier.”

On the Harley side, the first stereo was introduced three years ago, according to Aeschliman. “Since then we have released another Harley stereo so we currently have two head units in the market,” he said. “We have a set of Harley-Davidson speakers and there are plans to have another one released this summer.”

The big draw with the Harley products is that the head units are easy for anyone to install. “They are a plug-and-play replacement for Harley-Davidson motorcycles for years 1998 to 2013 so it’s a pretty wide market there,” Aeschliman said. “Harley-Davidson didn’t change any of their connectors on those years of models so one of the reasons those models have been doing well is because the stock stereo doesn’t have Bluetooth.”

Adjusting a stereo while riding a motorcycle can certainly present some serious challenges which is why, Aeschliman said, the integration with the hands free control is so important. “If you’re cruising down the road, you don’t want to be looking down at buttons on your stereo,” he said. “With our head unit integrating with the hand controls, it’s just as seamless as the stock Harley-Davidson stereo was to use, but with the added features of Bluetooth and the added power of our built-in amplifier—it’s all around a better system.”

Aquatic AV also added a two-year warranty. “Sometimes these stock stereos aren’t the most reliable so if someone has had a bike since 1998, a lot of these guys want to update to a newer and improved product,” Aeschliman said. “We use the stock 23-pin connection so all you need to do is remove your stock stereo, the wiring harness that is already on the motorcycle plugs directly into our head unit, and then there are four bolts to mount the inside of the Harley facing. It’s a really simple installation. It retains all of your hand controls. Some folks are using aftermarket car stereos but when you do that you have to buy a separate module to integrate with the bike’s wiring harness and enable your hand controls. With the 23-pin connector everything is easy—just plug-and-play with the wiring harness.”
