Another Record-Setting KnowledgeFest® Dallas
Year-Over-Year Growth Continues for Each Event
NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – August 30, 2017 – The Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) announced today final figures for its recently completed KnowledgeFest education conference and trade show in Dallas. The event was another record-setter for MEA with year-over-year growth for each event. KnowledgeFest Dallas 2017 had more than 1,300 attendees, 55 exhibitors occupying more than 60,000 square feet of exhibit space, 40 hours of educational workshops and 60 hours of vendor training and finishing with a celebration of our industry’s accomplishments at the annual Mobile Electronics Industry Awards.
To accommodate the event’s growth, KnowledgeFest Dallas moved to a bigger venue, the Dallas Convention Center and Omni Dallas Hotel. Additionally, growth of new product categories such as driver assistance and safety products were well represented and offered installing dealer’s new revenue opportunities. New tech companies are finding the KnowledgeFest show floor and available training time an affordable way to bring their products to market with the mobile electronics specialist. New for this year’s event was the “Accelerate your Business” keynote, business owners’ night school and manufacturer tours and training on the exhibit floor.
“We are demonstrating to our attendees and exhibitors that KnowledgeFest is dedicated to the mobile electronics specialist, the installing dealer. For MEA, it’s a niche market comprised of not only veterans and survivors, but new businesses being created by young entrepreneurs,” remarked Chris Cook, president of MEA. “The educational programming and vendor training unique to KnowledgeFest adds value to the attendees’ and exhibitors’ experiences.”
KnowledgeFest is growing. For 2018, MEA announced a third KnowledgeFest at the Long Beach Convention Center. The west coast and especially southern California has historically been a strong market for mobile electronics; and, many vendors’ US headquarters are in Southern California. Interest from vendors looking to make a strong statement to dealers in this market is high. Advance space selection for Long Beach is strong and MEA anticipates having to expand exhibit space.
For more information on the most recent event in Dallas, go to www.KFest.me to review the education and manufacturer training descriptions, pictures from the event and information about the exhibitors.
MEA brings the KnowledgeFest education conference and trade show experience to three regional locations: Indianapolis in the east, Dallas central, and new-for-2018 Long Beach on the west coast.
2018 KnowledgeFest Dates:
- Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California, February 23-25, 2018
- Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis, Indiana, March 16-18, 2018
- Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, August 17-19, 2018
About the Mobile Electronics Association
Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) is a trade association comprised of installing dealers and product vendors dedicated to serving the needs of the mobile electronics specialist industry. MEA owns and produces KnowledgeFest®, events in Long Beach, Indianapolis and Dallas that combine educational programming and vendor training with a trade show floor. MEA owns and publishes the monthly Mobile Electronics® magazine, which is the industry’s #1 resource, as well as other digital media, including websites and the industry’s e-newsletter Hotwire. MEA provides software and data-driven services to vendors and retailers.
Theme for annual show and conference in Dallas focuses on keeping up with advancing technology, consumer patterns.
NORTH ANDOVER, MASS., June 27, 2016 (MEDIAWIRE) — The Mobile Electronics Association® (MEA) announced the theme for its 2016 KnowledgeFest® trade show and conference, scheduled for August 20-22, 2016 at the Hilton Anatole Resort & Convention Center in Dallas. "SHIFT" will be depicted on all show signs and artwork, signifying a call for industry professionals to take their expertise, drive and professionalism to a higher level.
The KnowledgeFest theme is chosen annually by MEA staff after carefully evaluating changing trends that directly affect the mobile electronics community. This year, the focus has been on evolving safety and driver assistance products and technologies.
"Carmakers are using significant advertising budget to promote safety features on new vehicles, and almost all of the available OEM options have aftermarket counterparts," said Chris Cook, MEA president. "Retailers can take advantage of a new profit center in which consumer value has been stoked high by OEM messaging."
The media is also heavily covering autonomous vehicle technology and how cars will make decisions based on input from vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) networks. The potential changes to the driving experience hold future opportunity for retailers and installation technicians.
Celebrating its 20th year, KnowledgeFest will employ its own shift as well. The educational component of the conference will undergo a change from individual classes to three-class courses. Each course is intended to enhance the educational experience with graduated lessons from class to class, as well as a broader view of how the chosen curriculum works within the store structure. Attendees who complete each course will receive wall certificates marking their achievement.
The "SHIFT" theme is visualized by a classic car gear shifter that also includes a button, presumably to employ nitrous oxide, which propels a vehicle faster by increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion.
“The shifter and its nitrous button are the perfect representation of how we need to keep up with opportunities that come from evolution in the vehicle space," concluded Cook. "Shifting gives us more headroom to be able to react to changing market conditions. Then we hit the button and put all of our resources into overdrive."
Registration for KnowledgeFest 2016 is currently open, and attendees will be able to select and reserve space in education courses in the coming weeks. For more information, please visit knowledgefest.org.

Las Vegas, NV (Jan 31th, 2025) - Audisonis introducing the all-new Voce II line of automotive reference speakers.
“With Voce II, the second generation of our iconic Voce speakers, we challenged ourselves—rethinking how we design, test, and manufacture speakers. We’ve revamped materials, supply chains, assembly techniques, and packaging. Our goal was to “unlearn” to innovate and to “reinforce our expertise” where we knew we were on the right track. This dedication ensures that every aspect of Voce II not only meets but exceeds the sophisticated demands of today’s car audio enthusiasts,” said Luca Girotti, Technical Director for Audison.
Hi-Res Audio certification, a new standard
“Achieving Hi-Res Audio certification with a soft dome tweeter was a true challenge. Many tweeters achieve certification using rigid dome materials, making reaching the required high-frequency performance easier. We aimed to create a soft dome tweeter capable of extending its frequency response up to 40kHz—and we succeeded! This certification applies to all tweeters, two-way systems, and coaxial models in the VOCE II range, confirming the exceptional precision and detail in audio reproduction. Hi-Res enthusiasts can enjoy an immersive sound experience that captures every nuance, delivering an authentic and engaging performance.” said Luca Girotti, Technical Director for Audison.
VOCE II, an extended lineup for superior sound
The VOCE II line consists of a complete range of high-performance components and system components, designed to ensure maximum flexibility in installation and top-tier sound quality.
VOCE II born from Audison Thesis excellence
Every component of the VOCE II line has been developed with the same meticulous methodology that made Thesis world famous, using advanced acoustic simulation software and a rigorous phase of comparative listening tests, both in the lab and in cars. This refinement process ensures that VOCE II delivers uncompromising audio performance, while remaining practical and versatile for high-end car audio enthusiasts.
“We are thrilled to be one of the first countries for this product launch”, said Rob Wempe, VP Sales for Elettromedia USA. “We are doing additional trainings, we have a great-sounding demo car, and these Voce II speakers are playing a big role for our dealer’s business this year.

LONG BEACH, CALIF. – June 19, 2018 – Mobile Electronics magazine today announced the Top 50 Retailers and the Top 50 Installers, as well as the new list of Top 20 Sales Professionals. The Top 50 awards and the new Top 20 award are the first component of the magazine’s annual Industry Awards competition. Recipients of this award have the honor of being considered the premier mobile electronics retail outlets, installation technicians and sales experts in the U.S. and Canada, according to the magazine.
“This was a tough, exciting competition,” said Solomon Daniels, editor-in chief of Mobile Electronics and awards administrator. “Unfortunately, we had to narrow 85 installer nominees to 50, and it was a grueling task. That said, most of the nomination videos were high-quality efforts, reminiscent of the work that our industry specialists put into their stores and customers’ vehicles every day. Even more exciting is the first iteration of the Top 20 Sales Professionals, recognizing individuals who work just as hard at perfecting their craft as technicians and fabricators do. I’m very proud to announce these awards and present certificates to the winners.”
The nomination videos were judged by Daniels as well as guest judge Eric Carter, a former retailer and Industry Awards recipient.
In addition to these awards, winners are eligible to compete for the next phase of the Industry Awards, which through industry voting narrows the list to 12 retail and installation finalists, and five sales finalists. The “Top 12″ and “Top 5” would then submit judging materials to be considered for Retailer of the Year, Sales Professional of the Year and Installer of the Year. These final awards will be announced at the Mobile Electronics Industry Awards celebration during the KnowledgeFest trade show and conference in Dallas, August 17-19. Oxnard, Ca 5/18/2024 Boss Audio to sponsor a seminar in the sales track of the upcoming Knowledgefest show, which is being held in Atlantic City, NJ June 7-9 2024. The seminar, titled “The Profit Funnel” which will be delivered by Jon Kowanetz of Pathways Coaching & Consulting, aims to provide a solution to several struggles that 12 volt retailers often face such as; finding qualified salespeople, presenting consistent value to customers, being able to offer predictable results and optimizing inventory turnover and profitability.
By sharing a proven method for systematizing the sales process in such a way that can be easily learned, easily taught and easily implemented, Kowanetz says “Anybody who comes to this class will leave with a blueprint for how to create their own unique selling systems that can guide not only in store interactions, but online sales as well, increasing both customer and employee satisfaction, as well as revenue and profit.” Because the retailer populates the system with their own chosen products and qualifying questions, Jon added “what you end upwith is an efficient selling system that is authentic to the DNA and language of the store, rather than just another sales pitch that customers can see right through.”
The last time that Boss sponsored this presentation, at the Las Vegas Knowledgefest event in February, it was the highest rated class in the sales track with attendees saying that it changed the way they look at their sales process and instantly improved their profitability upon implementation.
In keeping with their initiative to support positive growth within the industry, Boss contracted Pathways to deliver the same value to the inaugural Atlantic City event for which record attendance is expected.
Matthew Delgado, Director of Sales for Boss International Group said “At the end of the day, a business needs great products, the tools to sell them effectively and the knowledge to do so profitably. We are proud to offer all of this to the attendees of the Atlantic City event in partnership with Pathways Coaching & Consulting.”
The presentation “The Profit Funnel” will be delivered at 10:40 am on Friday, June 7th 2024 in the Avalon 8 room in the Harrah’s Resort & Convention Center.
Please contact Jon Kowanetz at Pathways Coaching & Consulting with any questions.
Oxnard, Ca 5/18/2024 As part of their ongoing commitment of support to the Mobile Electronics Industry, Boss Audio will sponsor a special sales seminar during the Vendor Training portion of the upcoming KnowledgeFest convention, which is being held at the Paris Hotel & Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV from January 31st through February 2nd 2025.
The seminar, titled “Tipping the Scales” which will be delivered by Jon Kowanetz, addresses the well-known truth in retail sales that “All else being equal, the customer will buy from the lowest price”. What then can be done to tip the scales in your favor, to upset the balance or to “de-equalize” the system, so to speak? This seminar aims to answer that question with a mix of statistical data, observations of various businesses and personal experience in sales along with a bit of common sense.
The instructor, Jon Kowanetz, pulls from a long and multi-faceted history in the Mobile Electronics Industry to both create and present his classes, assuring attendees that the information is relevant, relatable and recent. Having started and grown his own business over the course of 15 years is where Jon learned much of what he knows and shares, when it comes to sales acumen. But that knowledge and experience has been strengthened and broadened by his later experience as a business coach, working with other businesses in the industry to help them improve their sales process, among many other aspects of creating and sustaining a successful company.
In this seminar, Jon brings together all of that experience and knowledge to help the attendees improve their customer satisfaction, closing ratio, profitability and job
satisfaction by sharing a sales process that builds trust, confidence, value and a relationship that will turn the customer into a client. “To a certain degree, price is only an issue in the absence of value”, Kowanetz said “and it is our job to ensure our customer understands the value of doing business with us.” This class will teach you how to do that job.
Matthew Delgado, Director of Sales for Boss International Group and 25 year veteran of the mobile electronics industry, knows very well the important roles that both innovation and education play in growth. As the company gets closer to the completion of the Elite line of products, designed from the ground up with specialty retailers in mind, Boss’ sponsorship of this seminar at the first KnowledgeFest event of the year exemplifies their commitment to providing the education retailers will need to be successful in 2025.
“This will be the third time that we have worked directly with Jon to provide unique, relevant educational content for our industry that is based upon extensive experience and I believe that this sales focused class will be the perfect compliment to the upcoming release of our newest products.” Said Matthew.
The special sales seminar “Tipping the Scales” will be delivered at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 31st, 2025 in the Champagne 2 room in the Paris Hotel & Convention Center.
Please contact Jon Kowanetz with any questions.
