“The ADAS Certification Program is a critical step toward realizing the mission of the Vision Zero Automotive Network, which is to change driver behavior through technology and ultimately eliminate traffic related fatalities,” said Bernie Sapienza, executive director of the Vision Zero Automotive Network. “We are confident the consistency of information, product knowledge and installation training gained through a certification program will boost consumer adoption of aftermarket ADAS technology and products. MECP has an established history of success as a nationally recognized program, certifying more than 50,000 installation technicians over the last three decades and we are proud to partner with them on this important initiative.”

The existing Vision Zero Automotive Network dealer locator (https://vzan.org/dealer-locator/), a tool that assists consumers to search for, identify and contact Vision Zero Automotive Network members based on geographic location, will be updated to include a certification badge upon successful completion of the ADAS Certification Program coursework and testing. Consumers can further refine their search result based on categories of services provided, products offered and vehicle type specialization. “MECP is excited to partner with the Vision Zero Automotive Network to develop this ADAS certification program, the first of its kind within the automotive aftermarket”, said Kris Bulla, President and Founder of Certification Systems Technology Company. “Although many existing MECP supporting retailers already include driver assistance products as a part of their services, we believe that developing and launching an ADAS specific certification program associated with the goal of saving lives will lead to more participation and a better overall experience for the end consumer.”

The ADAS Certification Program will be available as an individual certification open to any automotive industry professional or as an “add-on” certification for current MECP-certified technicians and specialists. Holly Hill, Fla. – November 17, 2020 – iBEAM Vehicle Safety Systems® by Metra Electronics® launched new aftermarket automotive safety products at SEMA360 that provide reliable OE-quality upgrades with easy to install options. Now shipping are two new ADAS products; a universal parking sensor system that requires no drilling, along with a two-way blind spot and lane change alert system that can be installed without removing the bumper. iBEAM is also now shipping a new wide-angle camera, a 1080p dash camera, and third brake light cargo cameras for Chevrolet/GMC and Ford trucks.

Two-Way Rear Blind Spot and Lane Change Alert System

iBEAM’s new rear two-way blind spot detection kit brings high-tech safety without the lengthy installation. The TE-BSM2 is mounted entirely inside the vehicle with one sensor mounted on the rear windshield, providing a clean and easy installation that eliminates the need for bumper removal. Unlike other systems, everything is built into a single sensor for an easy DIY installation, with no additional control modules or parts needed. This system provides both audible and visual alerts for rear blind spot detection within a 65.5ft field. An LED visual-only alert is shown if there is a vehicle in the blind spot and then the visual and audible alert is triggered if the blinker is on and a vehicle is in the blind spot, alerting the driver immediately.

No Drill Two-Sensor Parking System

Without drilling into the bumper, iBEAM’s new two-sensor parking solution, the TE-2PSK, provides enhanced accuracy and easy installation. Its reliable technology uses a higher frequency than current sensors on the market to allow for a more precise 3-foot sensing field with fewer false triggers. The TE-2PSK has everything built into the sensors with no additional control modules or parts needed, resulting in an easy to install kit that doesn’t require drilling into the bumper - simply mount the sensors and run wires. A three-zone setup for audible alerts helps drivers navigate difficult parking situations with ease. Designed for rear plastic bumpers.

Wide Angle Camera

iBEAM’s TE-190 is a 190-degree wide-angle camera that provides more visibility due to its larger field of view. This camera lens is adjustable, it is rated IP69, and has selectable parking lines. The resolution is 600 TV lines, it has a minimum illumination of 0.01 lux and can be mounted in the front, rear, or side of the vehicle.

1080p Dash Camera

The TE-DVR1080 is a new suction-cup mounted dash camera that is powered by a cigarette adapter, allowing for an easy to install solution. It has 1080p resolution at 30 fps and a 150-degree wide-angle lens. The 2-inch LCD screen shows menu options to allow the user to take video, photos, or playback media on the screen, with motion detection and parking mode features available. The G-sensor will lock video recordings if a crash is detected to avoid overwriting video footage in the event of an accident.

Third Brake Light Cargo Camera Frames

Two new third brake light cargo camera frames are now available from iBEAM. The TE-3BLCFD is designed for 2015-2020 Ford F-150, 2019-2020 Ford Ranger, and 2017-2020 Ford Superduty trucks. The TE-3BLCGM is designed for 2014-2020 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014-2020 GMC Sierra trucks. These frames add a blind spot/cargo camera to the third brake light of the vehicle with 480 TV lines resolution, selectable parking lines, and a 136-degree horizontal field of view. Both of these cameras are rated IP69 and improve rear visibility, allowing the driver to keep an eye on their cargo and rear blindspot areas.

All of these new products are now shipping with additional details available at iBEAMusa.com.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- August 25, 2020 --()--Today, Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. announced the launch of its Blind Spot Detection (BSD) System lineup, the SDA-BS900, SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1. The lineup, a first for Pioneer in the U.S. market, provides consumers with an aftermarket solution that adds technology to assist drivers by notifying them when there is a vehicle entering their blind spot zone1.

While driving, the Pioneer BSD System can detect vehicles to the rear and in the lanes to the left and right. The system signals the driver with a flashing light indicating the direction of the detection (left or right) and if the driver has engaged the turn signal in the corresponding direction, the system will also produce an audible buzzer warning. All three systems can also detect cross traffic approaching from the left or right entering the vehicle’s blind spot zone while slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway, activating both the corresponding left or right flashing light and audible buzzer warning.

“Pioneer’s Blind Spot Detection System portfolio reinforces our commitment to developing products that allow consumers to update almost any vehicle on the road today with newer technology and features,” said Ted Cardenas, VP of Marketing for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Blind spot detection assists drivers so they can practice more attentive driving habits whether they are changing lanes or reversing their vehicle.”

All three BSD Systems utilize microwave radar sensor technology for object detection and GPS for determining the current speed of the vehicle, and include left/right LED indicator lights, an audible buzzer speaker and all necessary cables and sensor calibration template (SDA-BS900).

The Pioneer Blind Spot Detection lineup includes:

  • SDA-BS900 (Suggested price: $900): The SDA-BS900 places a microwave radar array module behind both the left and right corners of the vehicle’s rear bumper2. When properly installed, this design results in extended blind spot coverage range up to 82 feet with the ability to detect both vehicles that are approaching from behind and vehicles that are being passed. Additionally, because the ingress protection rated3 microwave radar array modules install under the rear bumper cover, the system is cosmetically integrated with no visible or exposed sensors. The left and right LED indicator lights are designed to be surface mounted in the vehicle interior and include both silver and black colored covers.
  • SDA-BS100 / SDA-BS1 (Suggested price: $500): The SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1 are unique, placing the microwave radar array in an ingress protection rated3 bar designed to be installed on the vehicle’s center mounted rear license plate. This design simplifies installation, eliminating the need to remove any exterior body panels or bumper covers, while also expanding vehicle compatibility to include vehicles with either plastic or metal bumpers and the flexibility to be mounted to the top or bottom of the license plate. The SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1 provide blind spot detection of vehicles approaching from behind with a coverage range of up to 50 feet. The left and right LED indicator lights are designed to be surface mounted in the vehicle interior. The SDA-BS100 includes both silver and black colored LED indicator light covers, while the SDA-BS1 includes only black.

This product functions as an aid for notifying the presence of obstacles in vehicle blind spots. It does not detect all dangers and obstacles and is not a substitute for your judgment and careful attention. Before any maneuver, visually check both sides of the vehicle to confirm.

2

The SDA-BS900 can only be installed behind plastic bumpers and cannot be placed behind metal bumpers. When mounting the sensors, ensure the sensors are not obstructed by any metal objects, which could result in false readings. Placement of the sensors should be in the rear corners of the bumper, perpendicular to the ground, and should be between the lowest line of the taillight and the highest line of the fog light.
