KICKER® Reveals its Easiest Integration and Smooth Sound with KS-Series Speakers, Now Shipping
STILLWATER, USA – Improved mounting flexibility and heightened sound quality are the hallmarks of KICKER’s most recent KS-Series Component Systems and Coaxial Speakers, new and improved for 2020 and now shipping to Authorized KICKER Dealers for purchase in-store and online. KS-Series Coaxials will retail from $49.95-$169.95, while KS-Series Component Systems will all retail for $249.95.
KICKER makes great sound easy to install, even in the most modern vehicles. Featuring zero-to-near-minimal tweeter protrusion and a thin-profile woofer design, KS-Series Coaxial Speakers easily fit behind almost any factory grille without interfering with factory door components. And the entire line of KS-Series Component Systems and Coaxials ship with adapters that allow them to fit many late-model vehicles.
KS-Series Coaxials include remarkably smooth silk-dome tweeters with neodymium magnets that deliver natural, detailed highs. The tweeters also include a beneficial auto-reset poly-switch to offer protection from excessive power and ultimately distortion.
KS-Series Speakers also include EVC™ (Extended Voice Coil) construction, allowing a greater range of movement and increased frequency response. Internally dampened polypropylene cones and durable rubber surrounds assist the woofers in creating precise midrange and bass.
A new model size for 2020, the KSC270 2-3/4-inch midrange/tweeter comes with three custom bracketing options, built specifically to fit many of today’s popular vehicles and their factory speaker locations.
The KS-Series Component Systems share the same woofer construction and features set as the coaxial models. To increase clarity, 25-millimeter, silk-dome tweeters with a trio of mounting options are included. A coaxial conversion kit is also included, allowing the phase plug to be replaced with a center post that attaches to the tweeter. A two-way, 12dB crossover with three-step tweeter attenuation is also included and fits perfectly behind nearly every door panel. The upgraded mounting options and acoustic control affords the listener outstanding customizability and even greater sound quality.
KICKER Performance Audio products, a division of Stillwater Designs and Audio, Inc.®, are available for the mobile and home audio aftermarket at authorized retailers worldwide, and also as Original Equipment for boat and automobile manufacturers. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (May 11, 2020) – Just 25 minutes outside of the heart of Dallas sits The Stereo Shop, a mobile electronics retailer and installer that has serviced the Garland, Texas community for 10 years (formerly under the name JM Kuztomz).
Like most 12-volt retailers during the COVID-19 environment, owner Julio Murillo has had to think out-of-the-box in light of the recent “shelter in place” orders. “When COVID-19 happened, I thought, ‘If we’re going to shut down for a few weeks, then I’m finally going to update the store,’” Murillo recalled.
Murillo, an Alpine Authorized Retailer of three years, contacted his Alpine team, including rep Mark Sartain, to begin work on a $12,000 update to the shop. “Alpine is their biggest consumer draw and their highest premium line,” explained Sartain. “They see a big value in the local and national support they are receiving from Alpine.”
The focus was on the main display board in their lobby, previously occupied by a different brand. In its place, stands a larger-than-life display, spotlighting the Alpine Halo9 9-inch displays, as well as speakers, subwoofers, and amplifiers from Alpine S, R, and X-Series lineup.
The Stereo Shop was able to reopen, as they have a minor mechanical permit that deems them as an essential business (although they are still taking safety precautions by doing most installations through drop-offs and maintain social distancing standards.)
Not shortly after he reopened, Murillo started to see the fruits of his labor, particularly with the main display board. “The first day, we set up a Halo9 display in the showroom with the Alpine branding. The second day, after we opened, we sold three [Alpine Halo9s],” said Murillo. “We were already selling this product fairly well, but three on the first day was crazy!”
In addition to the main display board, The Stereo Shop now has three dedicated Alpine displays in the store that include an OEM Integration Display, a dedicated S-Series display (their highest selling product, according to Sartain) and an R and X-Series display.
“Alpine is a sound quality company, so naturally, having functional displays that can be used to allow their consumers to experience the products helps the consumers make a faster emotional connection,” Sartain explained. “Consumers come to their store to hear, touch and feel the products. The displays empower the salespeople because they can demonstrate the products to the consumer.”
Murillo said the value of a display that can show the customer the head unit and speaker together, claiming it’s a lot easier to sell when they can sell the entire package. “Display the functioning products; not products in a showcase or a box,” said Murillo. “When the product is on a display, where people can touch it, feel it, and know how it works – that’s half the sale!”
However, Murillo’s sales efforts didn’t stop at the shop door. The Stereo Shop is also active on their social media platforms, like Facebook, often posting installation jobs up to 10 times per day. Murillo attributes Facebook as the root of 50 percent of their walk-ins. Recently, he’s noticed his clientele are coming from 1 – 2 hours away, as Facebook is helping them reach customers that are looking for a shop that sells Alpine and speaks Spanish (the Alpine brand is well-known to Hispanic customers, according to Murillo.).
Murillo also adopted a new way to share the products in his store. Instead of posting a product, or taking a picture of the box, Murillo has started to show pictures of completed installation jobs, highlighting the features of each product.
This more personalized approach to “selling” Alpine products has boosted The Stereo Shops engagement rate, as they receive more inquiries from their Facebook page.
“We’re not trying to sell the product through Facebook. We show the product installed in a car and talk about the features,” Murillo said. “When the customer can see the head unit and speakers installed in the car, they can relate to the product because they might have the same car.”
Murillo’s advice to fellow mobile electronics retailers would be to stay safe and offer drop-off services for customers, making sure that every car is cleaned before returned. If possible, he suggested investing in loaner cars to provide to customers. “Our shop has three loaner cars for customers to use during installation,” said Murillo. “That way, there is no pressure for the customer waiting to get their car back.” He also urges others to increase up their social media presence, explaining that people are on social media more than ever before.
While adhering to the CDC guidelines, Sartain recommends getting more attention to your store through social media. “On social media, promote a no-touch transaction with your customers to show that the store cares about both your consumers and your employees,” Sartain advised. “Focus on keeping the purchase process easy and fast.”
Even now, as more shops are beginning to reopen, it is essential to have a plan of attack when returning to work, including new marketing strategies, adhering to CDC guidelines, and establishing better communication with the consumer. Alpine encourages its Authorized Dealers to reach out if they need assistance before or during the process of reopening.

Santa Fe Springs, Calif. – May 3, 2020 -- Accent Mobile, a division of Accele Electronics focused on solutions for Expeditors, Upfitters and Fleet Managers is pleased to announce their latest time saving products designed specifically for Ford & GM vehicles. Introducing Accent Mobile’s USB2HDMI35GM and USB2HDMI35F Connection Pods. These “Pods” are designed to fit in the Factory Switch Knockouts found on many late model GM & Ford vehicles. Each OE Style “Pod” contains (1) HDMI, (2) USB and (1) 35mm connection port to augment the vehicles existing connection points.
“In today’s connected world everyone can use more connection ports but more importantly, they need to be within reach of drivers and passengers. Accent Mobile’s Connection Pods can be conveniently installed in locations within the reach of users instead of being inconveniently hidden away in glove boxes or consoles,” said Bob Goodman, Director of Channel Sales, Accent Mobile. “Even today, many vehicles lack enough connection ports for the myriad of devices consumers are utilizing while driving. Even more important is the issue of compatibility since the many Smartphones, iPads, Tablets, Music Playback devices etc. usually require different types of connection, our Pods address this and do it in a seamless manner."
Installers will now have an option to add accessories to vehicles where it was previously not possible or perhaps inconvenient. Like all Accent Mobile Products these Pods have a Three-Year Warranty and are available immediately. Additional OE Style applications will be available over the next 60 days, call for additional availability.

“We want to thank Custom Sounds & Tint for joining us in this important cause,” said Bernie Sapienza, executive director of the Vision Zero Automotive Network. “Our objective is to educate consumers on the severity of traffic-related accidents and fatalities and then show how we can eliminate them through technology that is readily available for the vehicles they already own. STILLWATER, USA – One year ago KICKER® engineers set the audio world on alert with its first auto-tuning, smart amp that literally repairs inferior factory or aftermarket audio. This year KICKER introduced compact KEY™ amplifiers that improve both full-range and bass sound. The KEY200.4 Smart 4-Channel Amp/Processor and the KEY500.1 Smart Mono Amp/Bass Revealer use AI-driven DSP (digital signal processing) to dramatically improve audio, and they are now shipping to Authorized KICKER Dealers nationwide, available for purchase online and in-store.
Built to improve the performance of door speakers and tweeters, the start/stop-compatible KEY200.4 four-channel amplifier comes with a microphone and integrated push-button remote. The remote is designed to start the automatic tuning and calibration process once amplifier installation is complete.
A simple press of the selector (attached to the microphone) sets the KEY’s test tones and proprietary algorithms in motion. The system detects each speakers’ size, applies a 24dB crossover and 40 channels of equalization, applies time alignment, and customizes the gain levels of each channel independently. The true potential of the vehicle’s full-range system is revealed in a matter of seconds, delivering dramatic improvements in realism and soundstage without the need for expensive external processors or professional tuning.
The KEY500.1 is a 500-watt subwoofer amplifier, built in the same compact footprint as its four-channel cousin but focusing on a single bass channel. Using KICKER’s supplied test tones downloadable from the company website, the KEY sub amp automatically analyzes the audio being fed directly into the amplifier. Once analyzed, the KEY500.1 automatically repairs peaks in that signal while revealing the low bass that is typically missing in mediocre systems. In a matter of moments, it reveals a clean, even bass response at all volume levels. The KEY500.1 comes with 24dB sub-sonic and low-pass crossovers, bass boost and gain controls, and matches perfectly with any KICKER subwoofer or loaded sub enclosure that’s 12 inches or smaller.
Both the KEY200.4 and KEY500.1 represent a completely revolutionary approach to achieving greatly improved sound quality in an affordable package that installs nearly anywhere, and works with even the most modern factory or aftermarket audio systems. KICKER’s exclusive FIT2™ (Fail-safe Integration Technology) allows KEY amps to work with nearly any radio.
KICKER Performance Audio products, a division of Stillwater Designs and Audio, Inc.®, are available for the mobile and home audio aftermarket at authorized retailers worldwide, and also as Original Equipment for boat and automobile manufacturers. STILLWATER, USA – Stillwater Designs®, the parent company of KICKER® Audio, is actively supporting the regional community during the international Coronavirus pandemic.
While KICKER’s management team has sent employees home to work remotely and to care for families and kids, the organization has also flexed its resources and manpower to support regional health-services providers.
KICKER, with support from several component suppliers, recently stepped up to the plate to offer 10,000 facemasks in support of community efforts to fight COVID-19. Believing that “charity begins at home,” 8,300 masks were donated to Stillwater (Okla.) Medical Center to accommodate hospital patients and the staff caring for them.
Another 1,200 face masks have been sent to Hillcrest Medical Center, a 620-bed hospital in Tulsa, Okla., through a KICKER staff connection.
Another 500 masks were contributed to a group of New York City hospitals through KICKER brand and sports marketing director Roger Demaree, whose nephew is a surgeon currently working at a NYC hospital.
Additionally, the company was pleased to offer a supply of clear face shields to area first-responders.
Besides distributing the vendor-supplied face masks, a 15-year KICKER team member and his family have also found a way to make a positive impact in the local community.
Kyle Ambrose, who works in research and development, began experimenting with the company’s 3-D printer, normally used for creating prototype parts. Ambrose consulted with a healthcare professional about local needs and learned that beyond face masks, face shields were in great demand. Ambrose subsequently researched and discovered approved patterns online and created a headband that could be used to secure a clear face shield. He reached out to Stillwater Christian School where his children are enrolled to inquire about the availability of clear safety film used for overhead projectors. He enlisted the school’s participation in donating needed materials and also secured additional film donations from Fenton Office Mart (Stillwater).
While 3-D printing is a slow process, Ambrose is able to produce three bands simultaneously in under three hours. To date, he has hand-crafted over 100 shields which were initially slated for Stillwater Medical Center and then redirected on the hospital’s recommendation to the area’s senior-assisted living homes that were experiencing shortages. Ambrose personally delivered the shields to each home where they were gratefully received.
“We are pleased to be able to share our resources with our community,” says KICKER founder Steve Irby. “Stillwater is our home and we appreciate the opportunity to support those who care for us.”

MEA Weekly Webinar Takes Attendees Through the Ground Rules of Selling
Kevin Hallinan of WINNING, Inc. shared sales insights in this week’s weekly presentation with Mobile Electronics Association
April 23, 2020 -- Today, MEA’s weekly webinar focused on selling, and Kevin Hallinan presented on “The Buyer Seller Dance and How to Take the Lead.” Hallinan—a KnowledgeFest speaker—has over 30 years of sales, training, and management experience. Those who missed the presentation can view the recording by visiting Mobile Electronics Association on Facebook. Attendees also asked questions relating to how the current COVID-19 crisis has impacted how salespeople interact with clients.
Hallinan urged attendees to be willing to think differently about selling. He then discussed how to create ground rules for selling. “In selling situations, someone is leading and someone is following in the conversation,” he said. “How do we know if we are the one who is leading or following? The one who’s talking is following. The one who’s asking questions is leading. The more questions we ask, the better off we are.”
Hallinan also asked attendees to think about the three most compelling words they can think of if someone were to ask whether they should work with them or with a competitor. “The bad news is, we’re not sure what will resonate with the customer. What is that customer’s reason for doing business? Honesty, quality of workmanship, and price are our reasons. But our job is to find out their reasons.”
Stay tuned for the next weekly MEA presentation. And remember to visit www.meahelp.com for resources relating to COVID-19.
Accent Mobile Blind Spot System Increases Accuracy, Decreases Installation Time and Reduces Cost
“It’s Like Having Eyes In The Back Of Your Head”
Santa Fe Springs, Calif. – April 20, 2020 -- Accent Mobile, a division of Accele Electronics focused on solutions for Expeditors, Upfitters and Fleet Managers is pleased to announce, at a reduced cost, their latest innovative solution for Blind Spot Detection, the ultra-compact ACTBSS500. This Microwave Radar based system adds an extra set of eyes and warns the driver if there are any vehicles in either blind spot before and during a lane change maneuver. Microwave is more accurate than Ultrasonic systems, and it requires no drilling into the bumpers.
Two ultra-compact Microwave Sensors mount behind the bumpers and alert the driver with two compact interior mounted LED Indicators and a small speaker. “Our ACTBSS500 is unique in that it incorporates technology operating at 79GHz, this new higher Frequency offers 30 percent better performance in range resolution and accuracy when compared to our competitors 24GHZ,” said Bob Goodman, Director of Channel Sales, Accent Mobile. “Additionally, our new ultra-compact design, 400 percent smaller, allows installation behind bumpers without drilling and enabling the use of 3M High Temperature Foam Adhesive instead of drilling. The compact sensors have mounting tabs that bend and can fit on any curve inside a bumper, reducing installation time by 30 percent," Goodman added. "All these improvements have resulted in a 30 percent reduction in cost from our previous model."
He continued, “Consumer awareness of aftermarket Blind Spot Detection solutions is still quite low. Our industry as a whole has done a poor job of letting consumers know these systems even exist as an aftermarket option, if retailers are only selling backup cameras or ignoring this category, they’re doing themselves and their customers a huge disservice. Backup Cameras have been standard in new vehicles for a few years, but Blind Spot Detection is still only available in the highest of trim levels, as part of an ultra-expensive package or in the brands flagship vehicles."
Accele Electronics was a leader in introducing an aftermarket Blind Spot solution in 2016 and continues to offer Ultrasonic Blind Spot Detection solutions that are lower cost but require drilling. Since introducing our very first Blind Spot system in late 2016, we have continually improved each subsequent generation. Our original Microwave system, operating at 24GHz has been well received and was quite effective but our current 79GHz product has the advantage of years of real-world experience and development, leading to improved performance and functionality,” said Goodman.
The ACTBSS500 MSRP is $499.95. Like all Accent Mobile Products, the ACTBSS500 has a three-year warranty and is available immediately.
