Detroit, November 26, 2019 – Introducing the 9-Inch X409-WRA-JL Weather-Resistant Navigation System with Off-Road Mode. This mech-less (no CD/DVD) in-dash audio/video/navigation (AVN) system is a direct-fit solution for the new 2018 – Up Jeep® Wrangler and 2019 – Up Jeep® Gladiator.

Enhancements to the user interface for faster screen transitions, as well as added features based on industry research, has made the X409-WRA-JL an ideal upgrade for the active weekender looking to enhance their adventures.

Built-in Bluetooth® is also available for hands-free calling and audio streaming.

Third-party driving maps like Google Maps and Waze are available through Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™, or in areas that don’t have strong cellphone service, the X409-WRA-JL comes equipped with built-in navigation with Turn-By-Turn and Pinch-to-Zoom maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico with The Latest Map Guarantee.

Display up to eight accessories directly from the touchscreen by adding the optional KAC-001 External Accessory Controller. Assign graphical icons to the accessories for quick identification and control through a pulsed, latched or momentary output.

Audio entertainment sources include a built-in HD Radio Tuner™, Pandora® via a smartphone, iPod/iPhone® music, various music file formats including FLAC/MP3/WMA/AAC/HE-AAC playback via USB and SiriusXM™ compatibility (tuner and subscription required).

AlpineF#1Status, the Pinnacle of Car Audio, Creates Atmosphere with “Perfect Sync”

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (Jun. 23, 2021) – Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. a leading manufacturer of electronic components and automotive infotainment systems and its domestic marketing division Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., introduce AlpineF#1Status, the pinnacle of car audio.

Developed through the culmination of knowledge and technical expertise gathered over the years as a premium sound system supplier, AlpineF#1Status is a complete premium car audio system that embodies Alpine’s vision of “Emotion in Mobility,” by delivering an unparalleled music experience. It provides listeners with the emotional experience of a live performance.

To create accurate sound reproduction, development was focused on three critical parameters: Time scale synchronization of audio signal transmission, sound arrival and custom tone frequency range of a 4-way speaker system.

Achievement of 384kHz/32bit High-Resolution Audio Playback and Playback Environment

Appeal of High-Resolution Audio

The human ear can hear frequencies up to 20kHz, however, 384kHz high-resolution audio allows playback of ultrahigh tonal ranges up to 192kHz. This poses a problem, as limiting the audio to a range that can be heard by humans causes compromises in the original sound wave, creating a reproduction that differs from the original.

High-resolution audio is reproduced by incorporating frequency ranges that cannot be heard by the human ear. This provides a richer expression in high tonal ranges, expanding the sense of detail and depth of the music. Additionally, high-resolution audio reproduction is clean sound with minimal distortion, even when the music is played at high volumes.

Time Scale Synchronization of Audio Signal Transmission

Until recently, the head unit, used for audio source playback, and the audio processor, used for tuning, were separate systems due to the limited environment and installation space in the vehicle cabin. For this reason, it was necessary for each device handling digital signals to have an independent crystal (clock) to process the signals and timing of each component. This causes deviations in the digital signal called “jitter” (clocking errors) which affects the quality of the audio playback. The Master Clock Management System in the AlpineF#1Status system was developed to resolve this.

Used for the first time in a car audio system, OCXO is a crystal oscillator with temperature control system. It enhances audio precision with a design containing two crystals housed in a dedicated case with enhanced heat insulation that increases the frequency-temperature characteristic from ±50ppm (parts per million) to ±0.1ppb (parts per billion) through an automated temperature control system.

To fully utilize this high-precision device, it is configured to be directly supplied as a Digital to Analog (DA) conversion clock to the ES9038PRO DAC used to achieve 384kHz/32bit playback. This minimizes audio quality deterioration caused by clock jitter and provides a configuration that reaches the full potential of high-resolution audio.

Sound Arrival

In traditional car audio systems, the distance to the listener is asymmetrical on the left and right depending on the speaker placement and seat positioning, thereby requiring high-precision tuning to optimize sound quality.

AlpineF#1Status is equipped with four premium digital sound processors running up to 1GHz/64bit, delivering processing capability of a high-power computer CPU to achieve accurate sound tuning. This enables AlpineF#1Status to perform time alignment adjustments with a precision of approximately 0.9mm, improving from the equivalent of approximately 7.2mm which is the smallest unit possible in existing products.

4-Way Synchronization of Speaker Tone

Conventional speakers are made with materials and a structure suited to the entire playback frequency band, while component speaker systems are made up of materials and structures designed for its individual frequency band. For example, thin diaphragms are lightweight and suitable for playback of high-speed high notes but have reduced rigidity. Meanwhile, highly rigid diaphragms are suitable for low notes, but they are thick and heavy, and not suitable for playback of high notes.

AlpineF#1Status uses high-performance carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in each speaker that completely synchronizes the speaker’s tone by unifying the diaphragm material of each speaker. CFRP is lightweight, like plastic, yet highly rigid like aluminum. This aerospace material is versatile enough to be used for frequencies ranging from low to ultra-high range and results in the best diaphragm design to achieve the performance of the full specification of high-resolution audio.

As a result, the playback frequency of each AlpineF#1Status speaker covers a wider range than ever before, enabling a wider cross-over for each system component.

Introduction of AlpineF#1Status will begin with the launch of a new demo vehicle, which will tour the U.S. in the summer of 2022. Sales will start in fall. Details will be provided on www.alpine-usa.com.

Fleet of Three Trucks Will be Used for Dealer and Consumer Events

Torrance, Calif. (May 24, 2018)– Alpine Electronics has unveiled a fleet of three new demo trucks which will bring immersive Alpine sound experiences to dealers and consumers.  The 2018 trucks-- a Toyota Tacoma, Ford F-150, and Ram 1500 --are mobile showcases for the Alpine HALO9 in-dash system and X-Series sound system products.

“The trucks are not just eye candy for the road,” said Mike Anderson, Vice President and General Manager, Brand Business Unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.  “They are part of a complete training and event package that Alpine Brand Specialists will deploy at authorized retailers and consumer events where attendees can receive immersive and impactful sound demos.”

The demo truck experience includes in-truck sound demos and hands-on product education sessions to give guests a better understanding of the materials and processes used in these high-end products.

Alpine In-Dash, Sound, and Camera Systems

The trucks essentially feature the same Alpine systems, with the iLX-F309 Alpine HALO9 as the centerpiece of each set-up.  The Alpine HALO9 is a mech-less system with 9-inch touch screen featuring Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and Bluetooth®wireless technology.  Its unique design allows the 9-inch screen to “hover” above the dash board, eliminating the need for custom installation of the large screen.

Each truck’s sound system consists of a sound processor and X-Series speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers, with the Tacoma and F-150 systems measuring at 2300W RMS and the Ram 1500’s system at 3200W RMS.  The F-150 and Ram 1500 have a custom 3-way system in the front consisting of the woofer from the X-S69C 6x9-inch set, along with the X-S65C 6.5-inch component set installed in custom A-pillars.  The Tacoma uses the X-S69C 2-way speakers in the front factory locations.  X-Series 6.5-inch speakers are used for rear fill on all the trucks and are installed in the factory speaker locations.

For bass impact, the Tacoma and F-150 both feature a single X-W10D4 10-inch subwoofer in a ported enclosure.  The Ram 1500 has two X-W10D4 subwoofers in a pair of custom sealed boxes installed under the truck, with the subwoofers mounted in the floor and firing upwards into the cab.  In all the trucks, the subwoofers are powered by the X-A90M mono amplifier (two X-A90Ms are in the Ram 1500), while two X-A70F 4-channel amplifiers support the front and rear speakers.  Tying the entire sound system together is the PXE-0850S wireless digital sound processor.  With its 12 channels of outputs, the PXE-0850S allows for the management of complex, multi-channel systems and lets users apply detailed sound tuning and adjustments through a smartphone or PC app.

The HCE-C2600FD multi-view front camera and the factory rear camera provide peace of mind when driving, while the KCX-C2600B front and rear camera selector enables quick toggling between the front and back camera images.

Additional Accessories

Stinger sound damping products, wire, and wiring accessories are used in the trucks.  The Ram 1500 is equipped with KMC Wheels which were provided by Wheel Pros and are used with Pro Comp tires.  The Tacoma and F-150 feature ProComp wheels and tires.  Bak Industries tonneau covers are installed on the truck beds.

Regional Coverage

The trucks will mainly reside in three regions, with the Tacoma based in California, the F-150 in Texas, and the Ram 1500 on the east coast.  Authorized Alpine retailers are encouraged to contact their sales rep for information about the schedule for each truck.

Torrance, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2018)— Alpine Electronics today unveiled its newest demo vehicle, a 2018 four-door Jeep Wrangler, at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas which runs today through Nov. 2, 2018. This custom-made Wrangler is ready for a casual day on the trail or a tailgating party at the stadium and includes a multitude of features to meet any need in either situation.

“This Wrangler showcases our newest product, the i209-WRA-JL,” said Mike Anderson, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “The i209-WRA-JL is the first 9-inch aftermarket screen system for the 2018 four-door Jeep Wrangler, and we’re excited to unveil it in this unique vehicle at the SEMA Show.”

Debut of the i209-WRA-JL

The Alpine infotainment system in the demo vehicle centers around the i209-WRA-JL, a 9-inch touch screen system making its debut at the SEMA Show. The i209-WRA-JL is compatible with the 2018 four-door Jeep Wrangler and is the first aftermarket 9-inch screen upgrade for this model.

The i209-WRA-JL’s mech-less design features AM/FM, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, HD Radio™, Bluetooth®wireless technology and is SiriusXM-Ready™ (requires tuner and subscription, sold separately). The 9-inch capacitive touch screen is surrounded by a ruggedizeddash bezel, which has hard keys for the most commonly used infotainment sources.

Dual-Zone Infotainment System

A dual-zone, 1680-watt Alpine sound system takes over the Wrangler. For everyday drives, the main cabin is supported by the PSS-23WRA, a 300-watt powered system upgrade for2018 and future model years four-door Jeep Wrangler models that do not have the optional factory Alpine premium sound system. This system consists of the PWE-S8 powered subwoofer, KTP-445U 4-channel compact amplifier, SPR-10TW 2-inch component tweeters, and a remote bass knob. The subwoofer and amplifier are mounted under the front passenger’s seat, while the tweeters fit into the factory locations.

When it’s time torest on the trail or join a tailgate party, the Wrangler’s second sound system is ready to amp up the fun. This 1380-watt, second zone sound system ispowered by two X-Series amplifiers, the 4-channel X-A70F and the mono X-A90M, mounted in the cargo area. Also in the cargo area is a PXE-0850S advanced wireless digital sound processor, which allows for proper sound tuning from the convenience of the compatible smartphone app. One pair of R-Series R-S65 6.5-inch coaxial 2-way speakers is mounted in custom pods located in the rear hatch ceiling, while an R-W12D4 R-Series 12-inch subwoofer supplies emphatic bass.

Smittybilt Stryker front and rear bumpers are mounted on the Wrangler, and both bumpers have Pro Comp lights installed in them. To assist with viewability, an HCE-C2600FD4 front camera and HCE-C2100RD4 rear view camera are installed in the bumpers. Both cameras are controlled by the Alpine KCX-C250MC multi-camera selector interface, allowing for easy back-and-forth switching of the camera images on the i209-WRA-JL’s screen. A Pro Comp light bar provides additional lighting when needed and can be controlled from the i209-WRA-JL’s touch screen via the Alpine KAC-001 external accessory control module.

Custom-Designed Fun

Custom modifications transformed the Wrangler into a rolling entertainment zone. The interior seats are wrapped in smooth grain black Napa leather and feature a gray, custom-stitched design inspired by the pattern on the speaker grills.

The factory hatch door was replaced with a custom door that motorizes out and up, to be used as an awning to provide some welcome shade from the sun. A bench slides out from the hatch, then drops and unfolds once it clears the bumper, revealing black leather seating that matches the Wrangler’s interior. A custom chamber with a built-in drink cooler and the R-W12D4 subwoofer is attached to the back of the bench and slides out along with it.

The Wrangler was customized by Define Customs of Orange, Calif. The vehicle is on display at the SEMA Show in the Smittybilt booth (South Hall, #35061) and will be used at Alpine consumer and retailer events throughout 2019. The i209-WRA-JL will be available at authorized Alpine retailers in February 2019.
