The Industry's #1 Resource

AAMP Global, the amalgamation of AAMP of America, Armour Automotive, and Rosen Electronics, formally launched its new brand identity with a new logo, tagline, and websites, staking its position as a unified global company. The new AAMP Global logo is intended to be modern, bold and resemble mountains that portray AAMP’s leadership in the industry.

The “Define Your Drive” tagline conveys that AAMP creates products that deliver the best, personalized in-vehicle driving experience. Along with the launch, the rich portfolio of well-known brands under the AAMP Global marque were restructured and consolidated with the strategy of focusing its business through seven main “power” brands consisting of PAC, Echomaster, iSimple, Stinger, Phoenix Gold, Rosen, and Autoleads.

“Our branding is the representation of the people and power brands behind it, so we needed a visual identity that properly communicated the level of quality, customer service and innovation we go to market with every single day,” said Marie Still vice president of global marketing, AAMP Global.  “But this re-brand goes beyond the visual identity; it focuses us as a global team, defines our reason for being, and adds clarity and focus to every market touch point. The launch of the website and logo are just the first step we are taking to revolutionize the mobile electronics industry, we are taking a 360° view, with our customers and end users being the center, and every day pushing ourselves to be better, do better, win better.”

“The new AAMP Global brand represents our successful past and our outlook of a promising future,” said David Klatt, president and CEO, AAMP Global. “We’re making highly strategic changes to make us a more efficient and cutting-edge company without disrupting the relationships AAMP has built over its 20+ years in business”

With the rebrand, the corporate and individual power brand websites were revamped to reflect the changes of the company.  Each site will have an entirely new look designed to highly improve the visitor experience.  They intend to deliver AAMP Global’s consistent “one voice” message but also establish their own unique personal identity that speaks directly to their specific audiences.  Brand sites will be lifestyle driven and be more informative, with a user interface that makes finding content easy.

The “Hellbender” is the ultimate off-road event vehicle

Torrance, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2017) — Alpine Electronics today unveiled its newest demo vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited named “Hellbender.”  Hellbender debuted at the SEMA Show, currently being held in Las Vegas today through Nov. 3, 2017.

This customized Wrangler is ready to take the Alpine infotainment system anywhere, whether on the road or off the beaten track.  Since the Wrangler features several products that can withstand dust, mud, and water, the Hellbender name was chosen as a reference to the large, amphibious hellbender salamander.

“Our ongoing research with Wrangler owners revealed off-road usage needs that we’ve addressed through new products and features,” said Mike Anderson, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.  “This Wrangler showcases the functional aspect of the Alpine products in a fun and unique way.”

Features for Wrangler Fans

The Hellbender’s Alpine system is centered around the X209-WRA-OR weather resistant Restyle dash system for the 2011-2017 Jeep Wrangler.  The X209-WRA-OR infotainment system includes navigation, Bluetooth® wireless technology, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, all controlled through the 9-inch touch screen.  The X209-WRA-OR is IP53 rated for protection against dust with limited ingress and fresh water spray up to 60° vertical, so the Wrangler can be driven with the top off even when Mother Nature has other plans.

The X209-WRA-OR has features favored by adventure-seeking Wrangler owners.  The off-road mode for navigation includes useful features like compass readings, vehicle tilt, tire pressure readings, route tracking on trails, and Points of Interest (POIs) on the way to trailheads.  Wrangler accessories like the light pods and winch can be controlled from the X209-WRA-OR’s touch screen, used with s-POD’s 8-circuit SE system and 300-LSHS accessory interface module along with the Alpine KAC-001 accessory controller.  Status feedback of these accessories is also available through the off-road mode.

No expedition is complete without music, and the Hellbender delivers.  Knowing that Wrangler owners often drive with the top off, the PSS-22WRA sound system is ready for inclement weather.  This 600-watt, weather resistant sound system is Alpine engineered for the 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and includes nine speakers, two compact amplifiers, and an enclosed subwoofer.  The various products have a minimum rating of IP55, so they can withstand rain from off-roading adventures or water from a rinse-off.

First of its Kind Collaborations

Alpine collaborated with Smittybilt, manufacturer of Jeep lifestyle accessories, on specific products for the Hellbender.  Debuting on the Hellbender are Smittybilt’s Apollo front and rear bumpers which seamlessly integrate and protect the Alpine HCE-2600FD4 multi-view front camera and the HCE-2100RD4 multi-view rear camera (cameras sold separately from the bumpers).  The cameras are IP68 rated so they’re protected from dust and water immersion.  The Alpine KCX-C250MC multi-camera selector allows the camera images to be controlled and switched from the X209-WRA-OR’s touch screen.  The Hellbender’s aggressive profile is highlighted by the custom exoskeleton that wraps around the vehicle and integrates with the Smittybilt rockers on the door steps.

For peace of mind away from home, the X209-WRA-OR works with the Alpine Connect app which links through subscription to Chamberlain Group’s MyQ app.  MyQ offers control and monitoring of home elements including Chamberlain® and LiftMaster® garage door openers, as well as smart lighting and other devices, and its partnership with Alpine is the first of its kind with an aftermarket electronics manufacturer.  This collaboration represents Alpine’s first step into the Internet of Things (IoT).

Other Smittybilt products on the Hellbender include SRC Gen 2 front and rear doors, Apollo fender flares, and the Stingray hood.  Procomp products on the Hellbender include Apex wheels, Xtreme MT2 tires (37x12.50R17), short arm suspension, head lights, and roof lights.

Fun on Arrival

The Hellbender is ready for fun when it arrives at its destination.  Two PWD-CB1 Alpine ICE (In-Cooler Entertainment) sit on a delivery platform that motorizes out from the bed and to the tailgate at a 90° angle, ready to distribute cold drinks.  Music streamed via the Alpine ICE’s Bluetooth connection is played through the cooler’s 180-watt sound system. When used at events, the Hellbender can send souvenirs to the crowd using the t-shirt gun turret installed on the roof.  A Ricoh Theta S 360° view camera is also installed on the roof to capture the crowd’s reaction at events.

The Hellbender was built by Define Customs of Orange, CA.  The vehicle is on display at the SEMA Show in the Smittybilt booth (South Hall, #35061) and will be used at Alpine consumer and retailer events throughout 2018.

Installers Will Learn How to Use the AX-DSP to Upgrade Digitally Amplified Systems Without the Hassle

Holly Hill, FL - October 13, 2017 – Metra Electronics is hosting free AX-DSP training sessions at SEMA Booth #11639 in the North Hall. Training sessions are open to all attendees and a total of six sessions will be hosted. The 30 minute training sessions will be held at 10am and 3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the show (10/31/17 to 11/2/17). The SEMA Show is hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center from October 31 to November 3, 2017. It is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world.

About the Training Session

How do you effectively install aftermarket amplifiers and speakers in vehicles with digitally amplified systems? The experts from Metra Electronics will be showing attendees the faster, more efficient solution, using the Axxess Digital Signal Processor (AX-DSP). The “before-the-amp” solution for digital amplifiers is just one of the many ways to use the AX-DSP, but will be the focus for the training session at SEMA. Jason Anderson, VP of Research and Development, and Juan Lugo, Director of Axxess, will be hosting the training sessions twice a day, from Tuesday through Thursday. To learn more about this topic, attend one of the scheduled training sessions at booth #11639 in the North Hall of the SEMA Show. A question and answer session will conclude the training, to allow attendees to ask specific installation questions regarding the AX-DSP. Register at https://www.weare12volt.com/sema to receive more information about the training session. This event will be standing room only inside the booth.

About the AX-DSP

Axxess launched a new Digital Signal Processor (AX-DSP) this summer, as an all-in-one vehicle interface and DSP. It retains vehicle functions and allows full control via a smartphone application. One of the benefits to the AX-DSP, is that it is compatible with any aftermarket amplifier and speaker setup*. The OE radio will work with a digital or analog amplifier, without a factory amplifier, when adding a subwoofer to an OE system, or when using an aftermarket radio system. Unlike traditional DSPs on the market, this allows the installer to present a better, more cost effective solution to their customer, based on what they are wanting to keep or replace in their system.

The “before-the-amp” solution is designed to allow installers the option to remove the factory amplifier or to add a subwoofer while still maintaining the original equipment features and controls of the radio. The AX-DSP takes the digital signal from OE radios and converts it to a multi-channel analog output, allowing an installer to easily add aftermarket amplifiers while retaining the use of the OE radio controls. This results in a faster, more efficient method for installers.

*Visit AxxessInterfaces.com to view an up to date and vehicle-specific application chart for the AX-DSP. For product and training information, visit https://www.weare12volt.com/sema and register to receive notifications.

Holly Hill, FL - October 2017 – Metra Electronics is expanding the product line of its new brand, Metra PowerSports, by adding can speakers and micro-amplifiers, which will debut at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas from October 31 - November 3.

Metra is launching more than a hundred new products at the show, but these speakers and amplifiers represent an all new category for the manufacturer. SEMA attendees can see these new products at Metra’s main booth #11639 in the North Hall or at booth #35227 in the South Hall, which will feature off-road, powersports and truck accessories. These products will also be showcased the same week at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, at booth #4191 inside the Sailfish Pavilion at the Broward County Convention Center.

Waterproof 6.5” Can Speakers with RGB Lights

The new Metra PowerSports 6.5” Can Speakers with RGB Lights are designed for whatever the marine or off-road customer can throw at it. The UV protected, high temperature ABS provides a durable housing by employing a dual wall design. The waterproof speakers are IPX6 rated to handle water, dust and all the elements, while still delivering great sound performance. They are constructed from polypropylene and the tweeters are PEI (Polyetherimide). A passive 3” radiator offers a more robust sound by making these speakers more bass responsive. The impedance is 4 ohms with a 6dB passive crossover, frequency response from 60Hz to 20 KHz and a sound pressure level of 90dB. As an added feature, the speakers include RGB lighting that can be connected to Heise and Metra PowerSports RGB Controllers (MPS-RGBC-4). The speakers offer four mounting size options for extra versatility, and can be rotated for optimal sound positioning. The speakers, part number MPS-65CSRGB, are sold as a pair with a one year warranty, under the Metra PowerSports brand.

Micro-Amplifiers for Powersports Applications

Metra PowerSports is also introducing two new micro-amplifiers that are designed for harsh environments. With an IPX6 rating, these compact amplifiers are designed to get wet and not miss a beat. There are two models; a 4-channel (MPS-AMP60X4) that outputs 60 watts per channel and a 2-channel (MPS-AMP100X2) that outputs 100 watts per channel. Both amplifiers are bridgeable to provide more flexibility and designed to fit into smaller applications.  The gain frequency is from .2 volts to 5 volts with a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 KHz. The chipset technology is full range class D using IR control chips.

The input side of the amplifiers has an 8’ cable with an IP68 connector that is designed to plug directly into the Metra PowerSports Bluetooth Controller (MPS-BTK sold separately). For use without the MPS-BTK, the amplifiers come with a pigtail that allows the user to connect any radio or Bluetooth controller with an RCA output. The power cables are 8’ long with a waterproof fuse holder to reach any battery location, whether it be in a side-by-side, ATV, UTV, boat or motorcycle.
