The 3-in-1 Design Includes a Brake Light and Reverse Light
Torrance, Calif. (August 25, 2016) – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. has expanded its lineup of Jeep Wrangler products with the introduction of the HCE-TCAM1-WRA rear view camera system, which is now shipping. The HCE-TCAM1-WRA is compatible with the 2007-Up Jeep Wrangler JK and is the company’s second camera system developed for a specific vehicle.
“JK owners rely on rear view camera systems for daily driving and off-road adventures, so the HCE-TCAM1-WRA was designed to address these uses,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “The system conveniently installs onto the spare tire mount for an integrated look, yet is rugged enough for off-road use.”
The HCE-TCAM1-WRA was developed with the JK owner in mind. The 3-in-1 design incorporates a rear view camera, LED third brake light, and LED reverse light in a 7-inch round housing. The housing has a matte black finish with gun metal gray powder coat accents and attaches to the spare tire mount. The third brake light is 2-inches tall and stretches across the middle of the unit. The reverse light is not only helpful when backing up, but also illuminates the camera’s viewing angle in low light situations. A removable rubber cap with a debossed Alpine logo covers the wheel lock in the center of the unit.
The HCE-TCAM1-WRA projects a color rear view image onto the in-dash screen. Installation is plug-and-play when used with one of Alpine’s three 9-inch Restyle dash systems for the Jeep Wrangler (X109-WRA, X009-WRA, i109-WRA; all sold separately). The HCE-TCAM1-WRA is also compatible with screens made by other aftermarket manufacturers, or will work with a factory in-dash screen (connection to a factory screen requires dealer programming and a third party adapter, sold separately).
A Camera Suited for JK Adventures
The HCE-TCAM1-WRA’s rear view camera is waterproof and dust proof with an IP66 rating (universal standards set for International Protection Marking of products), so it’s ready for off-road challenges like heavy dust and water crossings. The camera is angled to provide visibility for both near and far objects behind the JK.
Smart Installation
The HCE-TCAM1-WRA attaches to the JK’s spare tire mount and is fixed using the OEM lug nut or an optional aftermarket wheel lock. It is compatible with most factory and aftermarket wheels and comes with three mounting posts of varying lengths, allowing the user to choose a post that fits the depth of the spare wheel.
Availability
The HCE-TCAM1-WRA is available now for $450 SRI, visit www.alpine-usa.com for a store locator. The system will be on display at the Alpine booth at the Ocean City Jeep Week, a consumer event taking place August 25-27, 2016 in Ocean City, MD.

The “Hellbender” is the ultimate off-road event vehicle
Torrance, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2017) — Alpine Electronics today unveiled its newest demo vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited named “Hellbender.” Hellbender debuted at the SEMA Show, currently being held in Las Vegas today through Nov. 3, 2017.
This customized Wrangler is ready to take the Alpine infotainment system anywhere, whether on the road or off the beaten track. Since the Wrangler features several products that can withstand dust, mud, and water, the Hellbender name was chosen as a reference to the large, amphibious hellbender salamander.
“Our ongoing research with Wrangler owners revealed off-road usage needs that we’ve addressed through new products and features,” said Mike Anderson, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “This Wrangler showcases the functional aspect of the Alpine products in a fun and unique way.”
Features for Wrangler Fans
The Hellbender’s Alpine system is centered around the X209-WRA-OR weather resistant Restyle dash system for the 2011-2017 Jeep Wrangler. The X209-WRA-OR infotainment system includes navigation, Bluetooth® wireless technology, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, all controlled through the 9-inch touch screen. The X209-WRA-OR is IP53 rated for protection against dust with limited ingress and fresh water spray up to 60° vertical, so the Wrangler can be driven with the top off even when Mother Nature has other plans.
The X209-WRA-OR has features favored by adventure-seeking Wrangler owners. The off-road mode for navigation includes useful features like compass readings, vehicle tilt, tire pressure readings, route tracking on trails, and Points of Interest (POIs) on the way to trailheads. Wrangler accessories like the light pods and winch can be controlled from the X209-WRA-OR’s touch screen, used with s-POD’s 8-circuit SE system and 300-LSHS accessory interface module along with the Alpine KAC-001 accessory controller. Status feedback of these accessories is also available through the off-road mode.
No expedition is complete without music, and the Hellbender delivers. Knowing that Wrangler owners often drive with the top off, the PSS-22WRA sound system is ready for inclement weather. This 600-watt, weather resistant sound system is Alpine engineered for the 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and includes nine speakers, two compact amplifiers, and an enclosed subwoofer. The various products have a minimum rating of IP55, so they can withstand rain from off-roading adventures or water from a rinse-off.
First of its Kind Collaborations
Alpine collaborated with Smittybilt, manufacturer of Jeep lifestyle accessories, on specific products for the Hellbender. Debuting on the Hellbender are Smittybilt’s Apollo front and rear bumpers which seamlessly integrate and protect the Alpine HCE-2600FD4 multi-view front camera and the HCE-2100RD4 multi-view rear camera (cameras sold separately from the bumpers). The cameras are IP68 rated so they’re protected from dust and water immersion. The Alpine KCX-C250MC multi-camera selector allows the camera images to be controlled and switched from the X209-WRA-OR’s touch screen. The Hellbender’s aggressive profile is highlighted by the custom exoskeleton that wraps around the vehicle and integrates with the Smittybilt rockers on the door steps.
For peace of mind away from home, the X209-WRA-OR works with the Alpine Connect app which links through subscription to Chamberlain Group’s MyQ app. MyQ offers control and monitoring of home elements including Chamberlain® and LiftMaster® garage door openers, as well as smart lighting and other devices, and its partnership with Alpine is the first of its kind with an aftermarket electronics manufacturer. This collaboration represents Alpine’s first step into the Internet of Things (IoT).
Other Smittybilt products on the Hellbender include SRC Gen 2 front and rear doors, Apollo fender flares, and the Stingray hood. Procomp products on the Hellbender include Apex wheels, Xtreme MT2 tires (37x12.50R17), short arm suspension, head lights, and roof lights.
Fun on Arrival
The Hellbender is ready for fun when it arrives at its destination. Two PWD-CB1 Alpine ICE (In-Cooler Entertainment) sit on a delivery platform that motorizes out from the bed and to the tailgate at a 90° angle, ready to distribute cold drinks. Music streamed via the Alpine ICE’s Bluetooth connection is played through the cooler’s 180-watt sound system. When used at events, the Hellbender can send souvenirs to the crowd using the t-shirt gun turret installed on the roof. A Ricoh Theta S 360° view camera is also installed on the roof to capture the crowd’s reaction at events.
The Hellbender was built by Define Customs of Orange, CA. The vehicle is on display at the SEMA Show in the Smittybilt booth (South Hall, #35061) and will be used at Alpine consumer and retailer events throughout 2018.
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. introduced a new sound system lineup for the Halo category that includes a 10-inch and 12-inch ported subwoofer enclosure and remote bass knob. The enclosures are pre-loaded with S-Series and R-Series subwoofers. They debuted today during the 2020 International CES, taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Jan. 7-10.
January 7, 2020 -- “This sound system was designed to complement the Halo display in both power and performance for a premium sound experience,” said Mike Anderson, Vice President and General Manager, Brand Business Unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “With the new modular design, customers can enjoy a single box design but have a flexible upgrade path. A single box can be used or two enclosures can be linked together with an optional kit to create a dual sub enclosure.”
Enclosure Stacking Features
Unique to Alpine, the subwoofer 10-inch and 12-inch enclosures are available as a single or “linked” format with an optional mounting bracket. This innovative design allows the sound consumer the option to easily add more bass to their system.
The optional mounting bracket (sold separately) is available in a 10-inch KTX-H10 or 12-inch KTX-H12 solution that mounts to the face of the subwoofer and links for a sturdy, dual-subwoofer enclosure. The silver enclosure trim matches the steel bracketing and Halo display trim for a synergized look.
Optimized Performance
The ported enclosure design delivers a higher total sound output for deep, powerful bass, reliable sound reproduction and overall great sound quality. The 10-inch enclosure is tuned to 36 Hz while the 12-inch enclosure is tuned to 35 Hz for optimized performance with Alpine’s S-and-R-Series subwoofers.
Remote Bass Level Control Anywhere
Bass levels can be controlled with the RUX-H01 Remote Bass Knob for Halo (sold separately). The knob can be mounted to any 9-inch or 11-inch Halo screen or anywhere in the vehicle for quick bass level adjustments.
The RUX-H01 is compatible with Alpine amplifiers and is multi-amp capable (standard phone cable splitter required) and can adjust the gain from 0 to -12 dB. The bass knob is designed to match the aesthetic of the Halo displays and subwoofer enclosures. The smooth tapered edges and silver finish provide a premium look that compliments the Halo displays.

Auburn Hills, Mich. (May. 8, 2023) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) today launched “Alpine Park” on Roblox, a mass multiplayer platform with over 200 million active users each month. This virtual experience, designed in collaboration with Trigger XR and Stage3 Agency, expands the Alpine brand presence and reaches a younger audience of audio enthusiasts.
“The Alpine Park on Roblox represents the future of the Alpine brand and a new way to experience Alpine products and services,” said Mike Anderson, Executive Director at Alps Alpine North America. “Using this immersive gaming and social platform, we’re able to showcase iconic Alpine imagery and products that long-time Alpine fans will recognize, while at the same time, incorporating new and exciting experiences that will engage a younger fan.”
With Alpine’s entrance into this virtual world, the younger generation, who statistically would not experience the brand until an older age, can now experience Alpine in an exciting and approachable format that’s tailored to their interests. Users can play games, purchase in-game gear inspired by the current Alpine product line and interact with Alpine products in an immersive environment designed for music, outdoor, and adventure enthusiasts – in other words, “Alpine fans.”
Bridging the Gap through Gameplay
Roblox was identified as the target platform for this virtual Alpine Park experience for its gaming and interactive feature offerings in addition to its vast user base of Generation Alpha (ages 13+) and Generation Z (ages 16 – 25).
The park includes a gameplay experience where users can collect iconic chiclets and music gems to purchase in-game items from the Alpine store (located in various areas of the park). The in-game items, like an Alpine Subwoofer jetpack and a Green Chiclet Tee Shirt, are modeled after real Alpine products to bridge the gap between virtual and reality.
Outside of the gameplay, Alpine Park features a “playground” area staged with real products from the Alpine lineup scaled to larger-than-life sizes as a unique way for users to interact with and learn about Alpine product offerings. The park also features a “showroom” floor that’s modeled after an Alpine Experience Event, where users can experience virtual models of real Alpine demo vehicles, like “Hellbender,” the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport with a tee shirt cannon, “Switchback,” the 2019 Jeep Gladiator with a mechanized truck bed with 40 oscillating Bluetooth speakers, and the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado with the Legendary Alpine R-Series sound system. Outside of the demo vehicle placement, Alpine plans to utilize the showroom floor to reveal upcoming products and services to its user base, connecting virtual users to actual Alpine products and initiatives outside of the game.
Future updates to the Alpine Park experience include AI (artificial intelligence) Personas modeled after Alpine Brand Specialists and Jeep Enthusiasts as NPC (non-playable characters). These characters are powered by Inworld AI, a developer platform for AI characters. The integration allows users to chat with the AI characters about Alpine’s technology and fandom, using custom knowledge bases and distinct personalities designed to align with the Alpine brand. This technology would position Alpine as the first commercialized brand to launch this feature on Roblox.
Roblox can be accessed online on a computer or PC, a smartphone via Google Play or the App Store, an Xbox gaming system, or a VR headset. Alpine Park can be found by searching “Alpine Park” on the Roblox platform or at https://www.roblox.com/games/12956278832/Alpine-Park.

Auburn Hills, Mich. (Apr. 20, 2023) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) today launched the TikTok account “@alpinesound” to reach a younger demographic of audio enthusiasts and further expand the Alpine brand.
“It’s no secret that the average age of the aftermarket car audio customer is increasing. That’s why social media platforms like TikTok are key in reaching a younger demographic,” said Mike Anderson, Executive Director at Alps Alpine North America. “Alpine’s TikTok will be instrumental in introducing the brand to a younger audience who might be unfamiliar with aftermarket car audio.”
TikTok has seen rapid growth since its initial launch in 2016 and now boasts one billion active monthly users globally (150 million in the United States). With 80% of users between the ages of 16 – 34, more commonly referred to as Generation Z and Millennials, TikTok is quickly becoming a key social media platform to engage with the next generation.
While Alpine intends to promote products, demo vehicles, events, and traditional business activities using the entertaining, short-form video format made popular by the platform, the strategy behind the Alpine TikTok account is to engage with the younger audio enthusiast and identify new business opportunities that meet their unique interests.
New Ways of Marketing
Featuring short and long-form video content designed to be everything from entertaining to educational, TikTok is a powerful marketing tool when increasing brand awareness. The main use case of the platform is to share and engage with video content that connects an entire audience through music, dance, trends, brands, experiences, and more. This fast-paced and often reactive form of engagement has yielded success for companies when testing marketing messaging, brand campaigns, and increasing product awareness.
However, beyond its social use case, studies have shown that TikTok is quickly becoming the preferred search engine for younger users, and with advertising capabilities that link to a website, app, and future plans of an in-app checkout system, brands and retailers can assume that TikTok will become a platform where a large majority of the purchase decisions are made. Studies have also shown that 37% of users who discovered a product on TikTok ended up purchasing the product, giving a whole new value to the trend “TikTok made me buy it.”
Joining the TikTok platform allows long-time and new Alpine fans to engage with the brand, learn about local and national events, and see products in action in a casual, entertaining format. Down the road, Alpine intends to leverage its TikTok account to introduce new products and campaigns that are geared toward the platform’s younger audience in hopes of inspiring the new generation of audio enthusiasts to become Alpine fans.
TikTok users can find Alpine by searching the username “@alpinesound” or at www.tiktok.com/@alpinesound.

Auburn Hills, Mich. (Nov 1, 2022) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) is now shipping the Alpine Status HDS-990 Hi-Res Digital Media Player, HDP-D90 14-Channel Hi-Res Digital Sound Processor, and three Hi-Res Amplifiers including a Mono-Power Amplifier (HDA-M80), 5-Channel Amplifier (HDA-V90), and 4-Channel Amplifier (HDA-F60). The Alpine Status line uses trickle-down technology from the Ultra-High-Resolution AlpineF#1Status system that, when used as a complete system, achieves High-Resolution sound at a more approachable and accessible price point.
Incredible Realism
The HDS-990 is a high-performance digital media player that can reproduce music at the Hi-Res audio spec of 192kHz/24Bit, the highest quality playback via a direct USB cable connection.
The HDS-990 includes two components: a commander unit with the iconic Alpine six-chiclet design that controls various sound and music settings and a separate black box that includes a wide range of feature suites for inputs and outputs that allow for convenient integration into any type of factory or aftermarket sound system.
The commander unit can be used as a standalone music source or integrated with a factory or aftermarket head unit. With multiple digital source inputs, the HDS-990 can play a wide range of digital music file formats from MP3 to Hi-Res for flexible playback options.
System Powerhouse
The HDP-D90 is a powerful 14-channel digital sound processor. Custom-developed for Hi-Res playback, the processor has an internal sampling rate of 192kHz/64Bit and an ultra-wide audio bandwidth of 10Hz-110kHz for recording studio-level sound. A copper-plated chassis brings the signal-to-noise ratio to >110dB and minimizes noise and distortion during playback for music that is true to the source.
The HDP-D90 includes a 14-channel processor and a built-in 12-Channel Amplifier. Multiple source inputs allow for flexible system building with an option to retain a factory head unit, add an aftermarket head unit, and add the Alpine Status HDS-990 Digital Media Player. The processor can also receive music sent directly from a smartphone via Bluetooth® wireless streaming.
When paired together, the HDS-990 and HDP-D90 allow the listener to build and tune their ideal sound system. With 12-channels of amplified outputs, the HDP-D90 can be used as a standalone power source or using 10 channels of RCA output, can add Alpine Status Amplifiers for a customized system configuration, including the HDA-F60 4-Channel Amplifier, HDA-V90 5-Channel Amplifier, or HDA-M80 Mono Power Amplifier.
The Alpine Status Amplifiers were intentionally designed to provide impressive power output to the system while ensuring the purest audio performance. Design features like a high-efficiency digital circuit, copper-plated chassis, and black circuit board contribute to precise sound reproduction while Alpine-exclusive technology like a dual-negative feedback control circuit improves linearity for the most accurate sound amplification. Quick-connect power and speaker connectors make adding the Alpine Status amplifiers to a system easy.
The Alpine Status Digital Media Player, Digital Sound Processor, and Amplifiers are the next of eight more components to release from the Alpine Status line, following the HDZ-653 and HDZ-65C speakers that shipped in September, and are now available at Alpine Authorized retailers and at Preferred Online Stores.

Auburn Hills, Mich. (Mar. 20, 2023) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) is now shipping the Next-Generation R-Series R2-A60F 4-Channel Amplifier. The R2-A60F is the first amplifier to ship from the Next-Generation R-Series Sound System Line, following the speakers which shipped in January.
Using “trickle-down” technology from the Ultra-High-Resolution AlpineF#1Status and Alpine Status systems, the R2-A60F is Hi-Res Audio Certified and able to reproduce up to 40kHz frequency response for music that is closer to the original source. The R2-A60F features Alpine’s Class D Amplifier Circuit and provides 100W x 4 @ 4Ω or 150W x 4 @ 2Ω.
In addition to the High-Resolution capabilities of the Next-Generation amplifier model, design changes were made to improve installation. A 15% reduced footprint increases fitment options in most vehicle applications yet still maintains the “Loud and Fun” performance quality that long-time R-Series fans have come to enjoy. Speaker connections were consolidated to one side of the amplifier for easy access. Amplifier controls, like gain and crossover controls, were relocated to the top of the amplifier under a removable plate for convenient access. Mounting “feet” were also integrated into the chassis of the amplifier to simplify the installation process.
The R2-A60F is Remote Bass Knob Compatible and works with the RUX-KNOB.2 or RUX-H01 (sold separately).
The R2-A60F is available now for $449.95 and can be purchased at Alpine Authorized retailers and Preferred Online Stores. Please check the store locator on www.alpine-usa.com for details.

Auburn Hills, Mich. (June 12, 2023) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) is now shipping the Alpine OPTIM™8 8-Channel Hi-Res Sound Processor and Amplifier with Automatic Sound Tuning.
The Alpine OPTIM™8 offers a suite of features, including a built-in 8-channel amplifier that is able to power a full sound system and flexible inputs that can be used with a factory radio or an aftermarket radio. However, the star feature of the product is the automatic sound-tuning controls that can tune a sound system in less than five minutes.
Using a PC App or IOS App for the iPhone (available on the iPhone 10 or newer), the Alpine OPTIM™8 App guides users through a series of quick and simple movements of an external tuning microphone (sold separately) or the built-in iPhone microphone to take measurements of their sound system.
This is made possible by using Acoustic Power Volume Density (APVD), an auto-EQ technology that takes a three-dimensional image of the audio signal within the vehicle’s cabin, accounting for any anomalies or acoustic challenges like a center console or steering wheel, and intelligently flattens the vehicle’s audio curve to create a base for tuning. The user is then able to tune the sound system to their listening preference by choosing a target curve that is applied to the system in real-time.
The Alpine Optim8™ PXE-C80-88 is available now for $799.95 and can be purchased at Alpine Authorized retailers and Preferred Online Stores. Please check the store locator on www.alpine-usa.com for details.
