Dual Electronics Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement with Voxx International Corporation to acquire the Jensen branded aftermarket car audio business. Upon completion of the transaction, which is expected on August 1, 2015, Dual will add the Jensen multimedia, head units, speakers and amplifier products to its car audio lineup. The acquisition complements the current assortment of Dual- and Axxera-branded car audio products, and allows the company to meet the needs of a broader range of customers in the 12-volt market.

Dual Electronics Corporation announced the introduction of 17 new Jensen-branded in-vehicle audio/video products: 7 multimedia receivers, 4 amplifiers, 4 speakers and 2 subwoofers.

Four new multimedia receivers feature Apple CarPlay technology, introduced for the first time under the Jensen brand. The models with CarPlay range in prices from $399.99 to $499.99, and will ship in second half of 2016.

Other features include screen mirroring and control for Android smartphones, built-in navigation, Bluetooth technology, direct USB control for iPod/iPhone devices, and the Pandora link. All new models will be on display during the 2016 International CES in Booth 2818 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 6-9, 2016.

With the introduction of 7 new models, the 2016 line of Jensen multimedia receivers is 10 models strong, (up from 8 in 2015), and includes 4 models with Apple CarPlay: VX4014 (MSRP: $399.99), VX4024 (MSRP: $399.99), VX7014 (MSRP: $499.99) and VX7024 (MSRP: $499.99). All models featuring CarPlay will ship in second half of 2016, while the remaining models will be available in March/April 2016.

CarPlay is a smart interface for iPhone, which allows the driver to voice-control (via Siri) music, navigation, phone and messaging apps, thus significantly reducing driver distraction. CarPlay launches immediately upon connecting an iPhone to the receiver via USB; the familiar app icons will appear on the receiver’s touchscreen, including the home button to activate Siri voice control. This consistent, familiar interface makes the iPhone integration truly seamless. The user can navigate and control the phone apps through the receiver’s touch screen or using Siri.

Three new multimedia models: VX7014 (MSRP: $499.99), VX7024 (MSRP: $499.99) and VX7021, (MSRP: $349.99) feature built-in Navigation with U.S., Puerto Rico and USVI maps. The feature is powered by iGo Primo Next Generation navigation technology with an updated user interface, improved navigation engine, expanded POI database (over 10 million POIs), TTS (text to speech) and support via the Naviextras website for adding additional features or updating map regions.

Two navigation models (VX7014 & VX7024), plus the VX4024 and VX4014 (MSRP: $399.99) offer screen mirroring and control for Android smartphones connected via HDMI. The smartphone’s screen is mirrored onto the receiver’s screen, and Android user can also control the connected smartphone directly from the receiver’s touchscreen.

All multimedia receivers feature built-in Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling (HFP), music streaming & player control (A2DP & AVRCP), and phonebook support with call history (PBAP). Each model features an external microphone for better voice intelligibility.

Five new Jensen multimedia models are SiriusXM-Ready^™. The SiriusXM^® SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner can be plugged directly into the receiver (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required). All multimedia units feature direct USB control for iPod/iPhone devices. Users of the receivers without the CarPlay feature can still control their iPod/iPhone directly from the receiver’s front panel; browsing music library, changing songs, adjusting volume, etc.

All new multimedia models also feature Pandora Link - full control for Pandora app from an iPhone (via USB) or Android device (via Bluetooth). The in-dash control for Pandora allows the user to give tracks “thumbs up/down”, bookmark a song and switch between personalized radio stations directly from the receiver’s touchscreen.

All new models feature front panel USB inputs for music playback and for convenient charging (2.1 Amp) of various electronics devices.

Five new models offer RGB Front Panel Illumination with virtually unlimited color illumination options for hard buttons, 5 selectable wallpaper backgrounds, user up-loadable wallpaper backgrounds and 5 user interface colors to choose from.

All models also offer 10 or 8 band EQ, subwoofer output with variable crossover and level, independent source volume control, 3 pairs of preamp outputs (front/rear/sub), steering wheel control (SWC) interface, which must be used with a PAC external module (sold separately), 160 Watts peak power (40 Watts x 4), rear view camera input (RCA), and a remote control.

Amplifiers:

Each amplifier features switch mode power supply (SMPS) utilizing MOSFET transistors, surface mount technology (SMT), high current Toshiba output transistors, and high current international rectifier output transistors (Model Power760x5D only). The heat sink mass is optimized for efficient cooling and small foot print, while oversized power transformer cores allow more current to be drawn for outstanding performance.

Speakers & Subwoofers:

The four new coaxial speakers include XS525, 5.25” (MSRP: $59.99), XS5768, 5”x7” / 6”x8” (MSRP: $69.99), XS650, 6.5” (MSRP: $69.99) and XS6090, (MSRP: $89.99). The two new subwoofers are XS10s, 10” (MSRP: $79.99) and XS12s, 12” (MSRP: $99.99). All speakers and subwoofer will ship in March of 2016.

Each speaker features Klippel laser optimized design with ideal magnetic motor structure for best sound quality. Japanese silk dome tweeters produce smooth high-frequencies for natural sound, while Nitrile rubber surrounds offer excellent damping and protection against heat and moisture, which extends the life of the speaker.

Each subwoofer also features Klippel laser optimized design for box installation flexibility. Injection molded polypropylene cones are impregnated with mica for added strength and for tighter bass with more punch. 2” High temperature aluminum voice coil formers feature 10mm Xmax, and heavy duty Nomex^® reinforced spiders ensure excellent linearity. Bumped and vented backplates allow air to circulate and cool the voice coils, preventing overheating for minimized distortion and longer life.

Las Vegas, Nev. (January 4, 2017) – Dual Electronics Corporation announced the introduction of 15 new marine audio electronics. A first time for Dual: marine media center and wakeboard tower speakers are joined by four new audio receivers, five receiver and speakers combo packs, one amplifier, two pairs of speakers, and a subwoofer. All models will be on display during the 2017 International CES in Booth 3721 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 5-8, 2017. All products will ship by February 2017.

First for Dual – a Hide-Away Marine Media Center

Dual’s first Marine Media Center (MMC36BT, MSRP: $269.99) is a multi-function digital media receiver for boats and RVs. It features built-in Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming (A2DP) with ID3 tag, AM/FM/WB tuner, direct USB control for iPod/iPhone devices, and a USB input for playback and charging (2.1A, 5V DC). It also offers 3-zone speaker control with programmable turn-on volume, so that everyone on a boat can enjoy music at the volume level they prefer. The three individual speaker zones are powered by a built-in 480-Watt amplifier delivering 60 Watts per channel (60Watts x 8). Other features include seven selectable EQ curves, 4V preamp outputs, zero current draw memory back-up, low battery indicator and a rear camera input (RCA). All the electronics, including the amplifier, are housed in a compact, black box that can be conveniently mounted out of sight, protected from the elements.  

A separate 3.7” x 5.4” controller gives access to all functions of the media center. It features a 3” TFT full-color LCD, and connects to the black box with a 17-foot DIN cable. The controller can be mounted in-dash or any other convenient location. The controller is IPX6 waterproof, ASTM B117 salt spray exposure compliant, and ASTM D4329 UV exposure compliant, which makes it ideal for marine and RV applications. A free app is available for both Apple and Android devices, allowing the user to conveniently control the MMC, via Bluetooth, from their smartphone.

Gauge-Hole Mechless Receivers

Two new mechless receivers fit standard 3” gauge-hole openings in the boat’s console: MGH37BT (MSRP: $219.99) and MGH17BT (MSRP: $129.99). The MGH37BT model boasts a full graphic 3” LCD, direct USB control for iPod/iPhone devices and control of the Pandora radio app on an iPhone, built-in Bluetooth, AM/FM tuner with 7-channel NOAA weather band, zero current draw, memory retention, low battery indicator, and a 7-band EQ. Both models are IPX6 waterproof, ASTM B117 salt spray exposure compliant, and ASTM D4329 UV exposure compliant.

Built-in Bluetooth in All Receivers

All nine new receivers (two gauge-hole, two standalone and five in the combo packs) feature built-in Bluetooth technology. The gauge-hole receivers offer audio streaming and player control profiles (A2DP & AVRCP), while the rest of CD and mechless models also add HFP profile for hands-free calling from Bluetooth connected devices. This allows the user to conveniently integrate their smartphones and other media devices into the boat’s audio system, while keeping the devices hidden and protected from possible water splashes.

Built for Marine Use

The MMC36BT Marine Media Center, and the MGH37BT and MGH17BT gauge-hole receivers are IPX6 waterproof, ASTM B117 salt spray exposure compliant, and ASTM D4329 UV exposure compliant. All single DIN receivers include removable silicone covers to protect front panel 3.5mm AUX inputs from water splashes and debris, while the faceplate and other exposed elements are injection-molded using high-temperature UV-resistant resins to prevent weathering and breakdown from the sun. The chassis is wrapped in a tough, dirt and moisture-resistant layer of PET (polyethylene) while electrophoretically deposited paint (EDP) is applied to the chassis offering additional protection against corrosion. To protect the internal components, a transparent coating is applied to all circuit boards surfaces to guard against dust, corrosion and condensation – all to ensure maximum durability in marine and other outdoor environments.

Amplifiers and Speakers

The new 5-channel ClassD marine amplifier (DMA5600, MSRP: $249.99) offers 600 Watts of peak power, ultra slim design, and is IP66 waterproof.

Dual’s first 8”, 2-way wakeboard tower speakers (DMW807, MSRP: $229.99) feature 25mm titanium dome tweeters and blue illumiNITE® LED lighting. Two new pairs of 2-way speakers: the 6.5” DMS6516 (MSRP: $89.99), and the 8” DMS8027 (MSRP: $159.99), as well as the 10”, 1500-Watt subwoofer (DM1016S, MSRP: $139.99) also feature illumiNITE® technology providing anattractive blue glow for a contemporary look. 

Dual Electronics Corporation announced the introduction of 12 new in-vehicle receivers: 5 multimedia models, 5 CD receivers, and 2 digital media receivers.

The key features include 2-Way DualMirror^™ technology (screen mirroring) for smartphones, built-in Bluetooth technology with ID3 tag and phonebook support, direct USB control for iPod/iPhone devices, control for Pandora, and 2.1A USB charging. All new CD and digital media receivers are available now. The flagship multimedia receiver (DV695MB) is available now, while the other four multimedia models will be available in March 2016. Heathrow, FL (February 4, 2022) – Dual Electronics Corporation announced today that 12Volt industry veteran Clyde Podraza passed away on February 2.  Clyde spent more than 25 years in the 12V industry.  Starting his career at Motorola, he then moved on to work in executive positions at Panasonic, International Jensen, Recoton, Dual Electronics, and AAMP Global.  Clyde was one of the founding partners at Dual Electronics and spent a decade as a top executive there.

Jim Braun, President of Dual Electronics said “I worked alongside Clyde for almost 20 years.  He was a pillar of the 12Volt industry during his time with Jensen and Dual.  Clyde was one of the original founders of Dual Electronics, and we would certainly not be where we are today without the monumental efforts and influence Clyde brought to the marketplace.”  Braun added, “More important than this, he was just a genuinely great person.  Clyde would do almost anything to help any one of his large network of friends and colleagues.  I’m going to miss Clyde, as I know many will.”

Clyde spent the last several years of his career at AAMP Global prior to retiring in 2020. Scott Forst, President and CEO of AAMP Global added “I personally started at AAMP with Clyde, and I couldn’t have been luckier to learn from such a wonderful and talented person.   He spread his knowledge and joy to everyone at AAMP and he will be greatly missed.”

Clyde is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marj, his three grown children and three grandchildren.
