Firstech announces release of DroneMobile Feature for Google Home and Google Assistant

August 25, 2017 – (SEATTLE. WASHINGTON): Firstech, makers of aftermarket remote start and security solutions, has announced the launch of the new DroneMobile voice control feature for Google Home and Google Assistant.

DroneMobile is a connected car solution that gives drivers the ability to lock/unlock, GPS track, and remote start their vehicles using their smartphone. In 2016, Firstech expanded the DroneMobile app to work on wearable devices such as the Apple Watch and Android Wear.

DroneMobile users that have an active subscription will be able to enable the DroneMobile voice control feature via the Google Assistant app, which is available for Android and iOS. Once enabled, users will be able to use voice commands to lock, unlock, and track the location of their vehicle. For the time being, remote start features have not yet been enabled through voice control as a safety precaution. Firstech plans on releasing updates in the near future to safely implement remote start.

Earlier this summer, Firstech released the DroneMobile skill for Amazon Alexa devices. The company is also currently in development for Apple’s Siri, which would make DroneMobile compatible with the “Big 3” of voice control solutions.

“Hands-free voice control remains a top priority for Firstech’s development of DroneMobile,” comments Firstech’s managing director, Jason Kaminski. “Working with Alexa and Google Home opens the door for countless opportunities for DroneMobile to integrate with hundreds of other cloud-connected products.”

DroneMobile solutions are available exclusively at authorized retail locations across North America. To request more information, or to find an authorized dealer near you, please visit www.dronemobile.com.

Momento M7 records in 2K QHD with 3-Channel Support for Front, Rear and Interior Vehicle Surveillance

May 3rd, 2022 – (SEATTLE. WASHINGTON): Firstech, the Seattle-based maker of Momento and Compustar vehicle security solutions, has announced the release of the Momento M7, a 3-channel dash camera system with 2K QHD recording and battery-saving technology.

The Momento M7 is now available for preorder and will begin shipping in early May from Firstech’s new distribution center in Texas. All-Time High Dash Cam Awareness As more drivers return to their regular morning commutes, mobile electronics retailers have reported a surge in customer demand for dash camera solutions, otherwise known as “dash cams.”

Retail experts and analysts have attributed this growth in consumer awareness to the effectiveness of dash cams in fighting accident fraud and the rising trend of viral video recordings of on-road incidents. In response to this growth, the Momento M7 arrives as a key addition to Firstech’s Momento brand of dash cams. The M7, or MD-7200, includes two cameras for front and rear recording along with an additional video input for a third camera. M7’s front camera records in 2K QHD, promising clearer visibility of details such as license plate numbers or faces – key ingredients in fighting accident fraud.

“ECO” Battery Saving Technology Despite their rise in popularity, dash cameras have faced one consistent obstacle: car battery depletion. For a dash camera to monitor activity around a parked vehicle, it needs to constantly draw current from the battery. In as little as a day, a dash camera could completely drain a car’s battery. The Momento M7 addresses this issue head-on with the introduction of “ECO” mode. “ECO” mode is Firstech’s new battery-saving technology that reduces the M7’s power consumption by up to 90% while the vehicle is parked. It works by turning off the M7’s image sensor and instead using radar to detect motion in front of the vehicle.

When the M7 front camera detects a vehicle or person approaching the vehicle, the system will reactivate the cameras’ image sensors and begin recording. The utilization of radar greatly reduces battery usage while retaining full motion detection capabilities. More About M7 Momento M7 will serve as the brand’s co-flagship product along with the M6, which Firstech released in 2019. Whereas the M6 features a companion mobile app for iOS and Android devices, the M7 is an “all-in-one” device that has a 2-inch touch LCD screen built into the camera for reviewing video.

In addition to the touch LCD, the Momento website touts the 3-channel M7 as having an enhanced low-light image sensor, on-board GPS antenna, and industry-leading 2-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty (most other dash cam brands offer 1-year of warranty protection). To learn more about the Momento M7, please visit www.MomentoCam.com or follow the brand’s Instagram page @momentocam. MSRP for M7 (MD-7200) will be $379.99. Dealers interested in reselling the Momento M7 can contact an authorized Firstech distributor and/or sales representative - or visit www.myfirstech.com.

SEATTLE, Wash. -- February 29, 2019 – Firstech, maker of aftermarket driver safety and security solutions, has announced the release of the Momento M6 (MD-6200) dash camera system. The Momento M6 is described by Firstech as a “smart” dash camera that connects wirelessly to drivers’ smartphones, making it easier to review, edit, and share video footage.

The Momento M6 system includes front and rear cameras, each equipped with wide-angle lenses capable of recording in 1080p high-definition. The M6 front camera, which resembles a compact, action camera, also features enhanced backlighting thanks to its Sony STARVIS Image Sensor: the industry standard for surveillance camera applications. Lastly, the M6 has built-in motion and shock sensors that trigger “Events”, special recordings that the system stores separately from normal driving footage.

In the event of an accident or hit-and-run, drivers can review video evidence of the incident using the Momento Dash Cam Viewer app, now available for iPhones and Androids. The Momento app works by pairing the user’s smartphone to the Momento M6’s wi-fi “hotspot”. Once this secure connection is established, drivers can edit and download footage from the Momento M6 for the purpose of filing an insurance claim, reporting an incident to the police, or going viral on social media. Alongside video recordings, the Momento app provides additional insights, such as speed, location, and mileage.

“Drivers across the world are realizing that if you’re in an accident, there is no better witness than a dash camera,” said Firstech’s marketing director, Justin Lee. “The Momento M6 lives true to that by providing superb video quality and an app experience that makes it easier to share video footage with the authorities or on social media.”

Firstech Invites Dealer Network to Participate in “Drive for Coats” Campaign to Bring Warmth to Those in Need

October 13th, 2017 – (SEATTLE. WASHINGTON): On November 1st, Firstech, makers of Compustar remote start systems, will launch “Drive for Coats”, a national campaign to collect coats for those in need.

Every winter, as temperatures drop, millions of Americans are forced to choose between warm clothing and everyday necessities, such as rent and food. Despite the improving economy, the U.S. Census Bureau still reports that the poverty rate is 12.7%. A warm coat is a luxury that many families simply cannot afford. In response, Firstech is inviting all Compustar, DroneMobile, Arctic Start, and iDataStart retailers to join “Drive for Coats” to collect coat donations in their stores.

To ensure proper delivery of all donations, Firstech has partnered with One Warm Coat (onewarmcoat.org), a national coat drive organization responsible for over 5 million coat donations for the past 25 years. Retailers that sign up for “Drive for Coats” will receive a marketing kit, which includes both digital and printed signage. Using these tools, retailers are encouraged to promote discounts on remote start purchases with a customer’s donation of new or gently used coats. Exact savings are to be determined by individual retailers.

The inspiration for “Drive for Coats” came from one of Firstech’s top retailers, Mitchell Schaffer of Mobile Edge in Lehighton, PA. For the past decade, Mobile Edge has promoted coat donations alongside remote start discounts, earning positive local media and PR attention. “Over the years, we’ve collected thousands of coats and put them all to good use in our community,” Schaffer explains, “I’ve leveraged this program to improve our company’s profitability, sell-through, and consumer perception.” Schaffer also distributes tools
for other 12-volt retailers to hold similar coat drive campaigns through his content marketing company, 1sixty8 media.

Retailers that are interested in joining Firstech’s “Drive for Coats” can register at www.compustar.com/coats/dealers. Registration for the campaign closes October 25th, 2017, and “Drive for Coats” will be promoted to the public on November 1st, 2017.

September 18th, 2018 - SEATTLE, Wash. – Firstech, makers of Compustar, Arctic Start, NuStart, and DroneMobile, has opened registration for its annual “Drive for Coats” campaign for dealers. Firstech’s Drive for Coats campaign is an effort to collect new and gently used coats throughout winter to donate to those in need across North America.

Firstech first launched “Drive for Coats” in 2017, when the company partnered with One Warm Coat, a national coat drive organization. In the campaign’s inaugural run, Firstech dealers collected over 6,000 coats – all of which were distributed by local charities vetted by One Warm Coat. Participating retailers include Mobile Edge of Lehighton, Pa. Mobile Edge has promoted coat drives campaigns similar to Drive for Coats for nearly a decade, generating hundreds of coat donations and a great deal of positive and free press in the process.

“Drive for Coats is a tool for empowering 12-volt retailers to partner with their communities and to improve their business’s visibility in local markets,” said Firstech’s marketing director, Justin Lee. “We at Firstech believe that Drive for Coats is a win-win-win for our dealers, their customers, and their communities. We hope to double, if not triple, last year’s number of coats collected by the end of the year.”

Registration for Firstech’s Drive for Coats opens on September 18th and closes on October 1st, 2018. Retailers can register by visiting www.compustar.com/coats/dealers. Upon registration, retailers will receive free in-store and social marketing kits developed by Firstech and 1sixty8media, a digital marketing company that focuses primarily on helping 12-volt retailers. Drive for Coats will be launched to the public on October 1st, 2018.

Heading into Remote Start Season, Firstech is excited to revamp over 80% of the company’s lineup of remote kits.

August 11, 2017 – (SEATTLE. WASHINGTON): Firstech, makers of Compustar, Arctic Start, and DroneMobile, is announcing the launch of the company’s new lineup of remote kits for controlling a remote start or security system. The new lineup of Compustar and Arctic Start remote kits highlights the company’s focus on 2-way remote technologies.

Firstech’s flagship brand, Compustar PRO, will be headlined by the new PRO G15 and PRO R3, both of which feature Firstech’s “Digital Spread Spectrum Technology” and up to 2 miles of range. Each of these remote kits is equipped with 2-way confirmation, a feature that Firstech is committed to adding to every remote start customer’s purchase.

“Since Firstech was founded in 1995, our company’s specialty has been 2-way technologies,” shares Firstech’s Managing Director, Jason Kaminski. “Firstech was the first company to release a 2-way remote with 1 mile of range, and also the first to release an IPX-7 waterproof 2-way remote. Our 2-way technologies have been a critical point of differentiation from our competitors, both aftermarket and OEM, and we look forward to continuing that legacy with our updated lineup.”

In addition to Firstech’s updates to Compustar PRO, new 2-way remote kits have been added to Firstech’s core brand, Compustar PRIME, and also Arctic Start. Details regarding each of these individual kits will be released at Knowledgefest 2017 in Dallas, Texas on August 11th, 2017.

All Firstech remote start and security systems are upgradeable, meaning that customers with legacy hardware will still be able to add these new remote kits to their existing systems.

Firstech’s new lineup of remote kits is scheduled to ship in early September 2017, and those interested can view the company’s corporate catalog at www.firstechllc.com.

Firstech is an award-winning connected car company from Seattle, Washington. The company was founded in 1998, primarily focusing on aftermarket remote car starters and security systems. Firstech has been voted the “Top Vendor in Security, Safety, and Convenience” products by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association of America for five consecutive years from 2014 through 2018.

August 18th, 2016 – (SEATTLE, WASHINGTON): Firstech, makers of Compustar and DroneMobile connected car solutions, has announced that in September 2016, the company will be launching “myFirstech Rewards”, a dealer-incentive program aimed at rewarding supporting retailers for the sale of Firstech products. Upon launch, the focus of myFirstech Rewards will be on DroneMobile, Firstech’s smartphone solution for remote start, security, and tracking systems. Participating retailers will each receive a myFirstech Rewards Visa prepaid card that will be loaded with funds for every month that a DroneMobile system they sell stays active.

Monthly payouts per device will vary depending on a DroneMobile customer’s plan type. Firstech offers four plan levels to DroneMobile customers: Basic, Premium, Business, and Business Plus. While many manufacturers have released solutions for remote starting a car from a smartphone, myFirstech Rewards is the first initiative in the industry to reward dealers for activating these systems in the first place.

“Firstech’s goal is to offer our dealers significant value from a variety of angles,” managing director Jason Kaminski explains, “several other industries follow a similar recurring revenue model, and we at Firstech are thrilled to be the first company to introduce it to our dealers for remote start products.”

Firstech retailers will be able to sign up for myFirstech Rewards starting on August 19, 2016. Firstech will begin distributing Visa prepaid cards in September, after which dealers will be able to start collecting rewards for the sale and activation of DroneMobile systems. To begin registration for myFirstech rewards, Firstech requires all entrants to watch a short video and take a short quiz at www.dronemobile.com/myfirstechrewards.
