Friday, June 9, 2023 - Oklahoma City, Okla. - DD AUDIO®, a manufacturer of high-quality mobile audio products announces their newly registered Apprentice Program, in association with the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development (OOWD), Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Oklahoma Manufacturing Association (OMA) and the US Department of Labor. DD AUDIO’s highly acclaimed service department will soon be home to a training program for promising individuals seeking to start or expand on their career in electronics repair.

DD AUDIO has always provided in-house repair for their amplifiers and subwoofers to authorized dealers as part of their unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability. In late 2022, with improved workflows and staffing, the department was able to meet the growing demand for compatible brand repair to their dealers. As demand grew DD AUDIO was able to open up the program to the general public. The lack of repair capacity in the mobile audio industry continues to reveal new demand for repair services, which has contributed to steady growth, requiring additional staff. This necessary staff expansion has presented challenges in the state of Oklahoma where DD AUDIO is headquartered.

The educational pipeline for electronics repair once provided by technical trade schools has narrowed to the extent that no relevant programs exist in the OKC Metro. DD AUDIO attempts to partner with trade schools to create programs never got off the ground. Undeterred, DD AUDIO shifted its focus in-house, where they already have a team consisting of the most experienced problem spotters and solvers in the industry. If DD AUDIO couldn’t recruit from programs, they would have to establish their own program to provide new opportunities to apprentices while servicing customer electronics. This would of course not be an easy path.

Through direct, active engagement with the OOWD and Oklahoma Department of Commerce, DD AUDIO was able to navigate the myriad of requirements for creating an apprenticeship program. The OMA, via their partnership with Harrison Consultants, helps members like DD AUDIO to satisfy necessary requirements to register programs through OOWD and the US Department of Labor.

DD AUDIO is now adopting the process that will successfully guide candidates through the newly registered apprenticeship program, with the oversight of educated and experienced professionals determined to produce quality technicians capable of providing quality service.

Oklahoma City, Okla., August 23, 2019 -- DD Audio, a manufacturer of high performance audio equipment, proudly introduces the newly revised EA-3.1 Energy Attenuation Material. This upgraded version of the EA-3.0 Energy Attenuation Material offers advanced interior shielding from unwanted road noise while also reducing internal vibration and noise reflection that can be caused by the massive sound output of a DD Audio system. At 3mm Total Sheet Thickness, EA-3.1 material is twice as thick, but just as light as most brands’ dampening materials. Additionally, the layered design of specially formulated butyl rubber and polymer composite reinforced with 100 microns of aluminum ensures that it outperforms thicker and much heavier materials of lesser quality. The ultimate result is a soundscape capable of delivering True to the SourceTM audio.

While this product is for the audiophiles and bassheads who want the experience of acoustic bliss and sonic blasts, DD Audio gave every bit as much consideration to the Authorized DD Audio Dealers who most often perform the difficult work of installing and concealing energy attenuation materials in their custom builds. The newly upgraded EA-3.1 offers stronger contact activated self-adhesion, a more manageable width, better surface conforming with an embossed top sheet, and even greater resistance to high temperatures. All of these features combined make this material a breeze to apply, cut, and tuck under any panel placement. As an added bonus, the EA-3.1’s jet black aluminum top sheet adorned with shiny red DD Audio logos looks so good once it’s installed you might not want to put the trim panels back on.

Oklahoma City, Okla., February 14, 2020 -- DD Audio, manufacturer of high quality audio gear for the masses, announces the release of a trio of new oscillatory transducers! These new and revised models sit poised to redefine audible clarity while remaining True to the Source.

The debut model in the new lineup is a replacement for the outgoing VO-CT35. The new VO-CT25 compression tweeter has a clean sheet design leaving no performance behind. DD Audio was able to increase the phenomenal 105dB sensitivity of the previous model to 107dB, while decreasing in size and weight tremendously! The compact nature of this new driver opens up all sorts of install opportunities that would have been impossible with the prior iteration of compression tweeters. The diminutive nature is owed to the high powered neodymium motor construction, and 1” coil utilized on this state of the art driver. This driver is perfect when paired with one of DD’s VO-W Midwoofers or Horn Waveguides.

DD Audio also introduces the strikingly improved VO-B1a and VO-B2a. These ultra efficient drivers boast neodymium magnets for incredible motor strength and ruggedly stylish, yet functional, vivid red anodized heat sinks machined from aluminum billet. The VO-B1a employs a high output 1” diameter voice coil/diaphragm assembly (rated for 100w RMS), and the VO-B2a, sporting an even larger 1.5” coil/diaphragm assembly (rated at a whopping 150w RMS), both benefit from curvilinear wave guides modeled into the sleek design for superior off axis performance and superior high frequency dispersion. The B1a has a frequency range of 3.5kHz-20kHz while the B2a has an impressive frequency range playing down to 2.5kHz, allowing it to pair well with midrange drivers when dedicated three way setups are not possible.

The new sleek, understated look allows these drivers to blend in with even the most boutique interiors for all of the high frequency reproduction you need without having to look garish or intrusive. In an effort for DD to continue to cater to the busy installer, the next benefit of the revision is the ease of installation afforded by the clever reengineering of the terminal system for the powerful duo.

All three models remain serviceable with replacement diaphragms available.

Oklahoma City, Okla., March 13th, 2019 -- It is with great excitement that DD Audio, manufacturer of high performance audio equipment, announces the immediate release of the brand new 1506 Power Tuned Subwoofer, DD Audio's smallest addition to their growing arsenal of ESP equipped subwoofers.

If you need big woofer bass, but have a limited build area, the Power Tuned 1506 ESP is your new best friend. At 6.5 inches, the 1506 is a perfect solution for small space applications such as under and behind seats or tucked away in consoles and other compartments. As with its bigger brothers, the 1506 ESP is designed to accommodate today’s high excursion listening styles with larger diameter suspensions and deeper frames compared to standard sub designs, as well as proprietary surrounds and cones to fully take advantage of the increased geometries. Additionally, the 1506 ESP features an optimized drive circuit with a 2" high-temp voice coil and a 20mm top plate, giving the 1506 the power handling and coil control to get loud and play clean.

All ESP subs are built to truly maximize performance in their designated size classes thanks to features like:

●      Carbon Fiber Blend Cone (CFB) – The CFB composition employs a potent carbon fiber based cocktail to give you the highest strength to weight ratio of any pulp cone in the industry.

●      Vario-density Extended Range Of Motion Surround (V-ROM) – Provides the ultimate in linear control at high excursion while still allowing for dynamic sounding bass reproduction. The control ribs are compressed to a lesser density than the main surround body to allow for a continuously variable control system. The harder you drive it the more control you get.

●      Tuned Spider System (TSS) – Each suspension is tuned for specific performance traits, e.g. High Definition, Power Handling, X-Stiff Control.

●      Super Frame (SFrame) – Maximizes spider diameter, cone diameter, suspension excursion, works as a secondary shorting ring and provides additional heat sinking for better heat flow from the coil.

This performance enhancing package is already available on the 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, 15-inch and 18-inch frame sizes of Power Tuned, HiDef Tuned, and Z Series subwoofers. With the addition of the 1506 there’s now an ESP sub to fit your install no matter how big or small.

1506 Specs:

Power Handling: 300-600 watts RMS

Impedance Options: Dual 2 Ohm or Dual 4 Ohm

Mounting Diameter: 6.3-inch

Mounting Depth: 6”

MSRP: $369

Oklahoma City, OK, March 1, 2019 — DD Audio is proud to introduce the DXBT-05 Wireless Active Noise Canceling Headphones. Retaining all the beauty and acoustics that made previous Black Walnut DXB Headphones famous, the DXBT-05s incorporate noise-canceling technology and bluetooth connectivity.

Oklahoma City, Okla., October 18, 2018 -- DD Audio is proud to announce the immediate release of the newly updated LE-S and LE-M lines of loaded enclosures. With a better look and sound than ever before, these loaded enclosures are a perfect addition to any aftermarket or OEM sound system.

Everyday, drivers are finding their dream cars complete with their ideal interior and features. They’re happy with everything... right up until the moment they begin listening to their driving playlist. That’s when the happiness fades into frustration as their sound system struggles to deliver the rich, smooth bass tones that should be rhythmically guiding them down the road.

They’re not asking for a lot. They don’t need a fully customized system that takes up their whole trunk. They just need to fill the depressing void left by a subless audio system. DD Audio’s loaded enclosures are the perfect solution for filling the bass void without filling the entire trunk. They’re built using MDF with fully sealed seams and feature tuned ports designed to maximize output, while minimizing air turbulence at higher volumes. These optimally sized enclosures are loaded with a specially designed high-efficiency subwoofer, boasting a powerful double stack motor. They are compatible with both 1Ω and 4Ω amplifiers and handle 250 watts RMS to 500 watts peak.

The LE-S and LE-M series loaded enclosures make installation a breeze with plug and play ease, and for those times when additional cargo area is an absolute must, they’re easy to remove and replace with the banana plug terminals. They also feature metal bar grills to protect the sub form the everyday perils of a trunk. Drivers deserve to hear the full range of sound and DD Audio’s loaded enclosures are one of the best solutions out there for easily adding the low frequency tones that your system lacks.

Oklahoma City, Okla., July 3, 2018 -- Following the massively successful showing at Scrapin the Coast 2018 in Biloxi, MS late last month, DD Audio is now preparing to represent and demo at The Custom Sounds Texas Heat Wave show, July 20-22nd at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin, Texas. Here are some highlights from the Scrapin trip as well as some previews for Heat Wave.

Scrapin the Coast

Scrapin the Coast made good on its “Wildest Show on the Coast” promise this year for tens of thousands of visitors. As one team member noted, from a high vantage point the pavement disappeared under the sea of people that flowed from one amazing custom vehicle to the next.

One such custom vehicle to get a great deal of attention at this show was none other than the beastly DDKong! It was made abundantly clear from the interest and the comments that word has spread since the uncaging at Slamology: “DDKong is the must see, must hear build” for DD fans.

Speaking of fans, congratulations to Terry Wendell Vickers Jr. who won a Limited DDKong T-Shirt and Camillia Lecuyer who won a pair of DXB 1.1 Wood Earbuds for their participation in the #DDKong social media photo contest.

The Custom Sound Texas Heat Wave

Texas Heat Wave is the demo team’s third show this year and the third stop on the DDKong Tour, but this “Custom Truck, Car, and Audio Event with incorporated Tattoo Expo” is promising to be the hottest show of the summer-- and not just in Fahrenheit. Stunt shows, burnout and hydraulic contests, monster trucks, and much more make this a must visit for DD Audio. Of course, you don’t have to twist anyone’s arm to get the DD demo team to visit Austin. It goes without saying it’s great town known for its eclectic community of artists which makes it an ideal hub for customizers and audio enthusiasts in the southwest. These guys will gladly make the relatively short 400 mile drive down I-35 with DDKong to provide system demos all weekend.

NOTE! Regardless of what DD team member Aaron Trimble tells visitors, demos do not cost four spareribs from Franklin’s BBQ, they are in fact FREE. Attendees, don’t forget to upload a photo or video on social media of the DDKONG, with the hashtag #DDKONG , for chances to win a limited edition DDKONG/SHTNONM shirt and DD Audio Lifestyle gear!

And finally, check out the DDKONG Web Series!

July 20, 2018 -- The soon to be retired D4.90 never let users down. It consistently accomplished its goals of being a compact, easy to install, powerful and reliable little amp. And yet, DD Audio saw the potential for so much more and decided the time for a revision was now. Armed with technology and a plan based on user feedback, they set out to better the already installer and customer approved D4.90.

This month DD Audio is proudly rolling out the D4.90’s replacement and upgrade with the new D4.100. The D4.100 is every bit as versatile and reliable as its predecessor with features such as five-way protection, clipping indicator, heavy duty printed circuit board, 4 gauge set screw power terminals, and 12-gauge set screw speaker terminals. New features include panel mounted RCA inputs and a low voltage indicator. Performance improvements were made to the variable high-pass/low-pass/band-pass crossovers, power supply, and output section. And of course, as with the D4.90, the D4.100 is a marine grade amplifier with versatility and easy installation in-mind.

What really separates the D4.100 from its predecessor is power. The continuous wattage went from 90x4 / 240x2 up to 100x4 / 300x2 @ 4 ohm and from 120x4 to 150x4 @ 2 ohm. What’s more impressive is that DD Audio’s engineers achieved these improvements without sacrificing size. They accomplished this by removing all redundancies and under-utilized components, and focusing on an ultra-efficient design for outstanding performance.

The D4.100 is the now even more perfect little all around multi-channel amp. Ideal for space-constrained installs with enough power to easily drive factory speaker upgrades and beyond.

Wednesday, August 23, 2023 - Oklahoma City, OK - DD AUDIO®, a manufacturer of high-quality mobile audio products is proud to introduce the “f” revision of their venerable 600 Series subwoofers. In the previous “e” revision they got bigger and better; this latest “f” revision received thermal cooling engineering enhancements, making them even more efficient when performing for longer periods of time.

DD AUDIO’s design philosophy is to maximize efficiency first, optimizing power to sound as best as possible. This was the design basis behind their Free Flow Cooling System back in 2000. They introduced cross drilled cooling vents through the pole piece and top plates, gap vents in the voice coil gap and cooling holes in the voice coil. The harder the speaker played, the more air was pumped through the motor. Heat is a byproduct of vigorous play, motivating their engineering to continuously push the boundaries of what is possible.

The 600 Series revision “f” incorporates added thermal transfer, facilitating the movement of heat from heat-generating regions to cooler areas, thereby increasing the thermal movement from the voice coil outward. The collaboration of a freshly machined aluminum cooling tube positioned within the pole vent and a substantially thicker, vented aluminum rear motor heat sink synergistically achieves optimal heat extraction. This enables any sound enthusiast to play louder and longer.

Increased power demands greater Xmax, and the enhanced excursion of the new 600f model meets this requirement. With the top plate increased to 20mm and the voice coil winding lengths extended, coupled with the presence of both motor steel and billet aluminum, more effective heat dissipation from the coil is achieved across all conditions, ultimately optimizing long-term electrical efficiency.

Increased Xmax and excursion necessitated enhancements to the moving system as well. Taller surrounds have been tooled and spider refined to fully optimize the new motor design. The taller surrounds are double-stitched to fiberglass loaded, non-pressed cones and the utilization of double layer, multiple spiders uphold DD tradition of long term durability.

More Xmax and more excursion, combined with a cool as “f”, super edgy heatsink and motor boot designs make these revisions the mother “f” of all revisions!

Oklahoma City, Okla., October 2nd, 2018 -- DD Audio will be helping the 2018 car audio competition season go out with a bang by proudly sponsoring three of the most popular events in the car audio world: USACi Finals, Car Audio Championships and MWSPL Finals.

Along with getting to check out some of the loudest and best sounding systems in the country attendees will get the chance to grab demo from DD KONG and the DD Audio demo team. Next, competitors will be pitted head to head in the DD Audio sponsored SPL Hall at the Car Audio Championship Oct. 13-14 in Louisville, KY at Broadbent Arena. The Car Audio Championship features three sanctioning competition bodies (dB Drag, MECA, IASCA) joining forces to host this world-class event.

Rounding out these awesome events will be the Midwest SPL Finals Oct. 27-28 in Sedalia, MO at the Missouri State Fair Grounds. After competition commences Saturday night, competitors can celebrate this year’s audio accomplishments at the Official MWSPL After Party sponsored by DD Audio. DD KONG will also be on hand demoing for the pleasure of all attending bassheads.

DD Audio would like to thank all the organizations for arranging these events year after year as well as the competitors and spectators who keep the sport alive and growing. They also extend a very big “Good Luck” to the competitors who sacrifice time, money and probably some sanity for their place in history. Get those rings and trophies!
