Distribution experts to offer KENWOOD brand to its retail network

LONG BEACH, CALIF., June 11, 2019 (MEDIAWIRE) – KENWOOD USA announced it has entered into a fulfillment agreement with Audio America, a 25-year distributor of consumer electronics brands. Under the agreement, Audio America will provide KENWOOD-branded products to its qualified retail network. The new partnership affords KENWOOD a vastly expanded footprint and an accomplished fulfillment center with strong, established channels to its local mobile electronics community.

With its increasing presence in the world of motorsports, KENWOOD is now leveraging its Communications and Dash Cam DNA by offering motorsports helmet riders 2 unique experiences; advanced helmet-to-helmet rider communication and 4K camera recording with advanced helmet-to-helmet rider communication.  

The core function of the KCA-HX5M is to enable riders to seamlessly communicate with each other with crystal clear sound. It incorporates Bluetooth 4.1 technology to provide a powerful Mesh Intercom™ with a range of up to 1.2 miles, supporting up to 4 riders at a time, and can even connect with other popular brands of intercom systems like SENA. Additional intercom modes available include Open Mesh™ and Group Mesh™. The camera features a 125-degree field of view and the lens can be rotated 30 degrees for optimal rider recording view. Smart Audio Mix™ is added, which allows recording of everything you hear through your speakers as well as your voice during video recording. The KCA-HX7C shares the Intercom Device Manager for KENWOOD PC and Apple software for firmware upgrades and configuration settings, but utilizes two unique smartphone applications; the Intercom Utility for KENWOOD application allows you to configure the headset settings, while the Intercom Camera for KENWOOD application allows you to see a live preview from the camera, manage recorded videos, as well as configure the video settings using the built-in Wireless LAN feature of the camera system. When the camera and app are connected, the camera is synchronized with the smartphone’s date and time.

Long Beach, Calif., April 1, 2021 KENWOOD USA has introduced a new line of MASK CD receivers with ZapoGerm technology. The eXcelon KDC-X569UV kills germs and viruses on the surface of CD’s. How does it work? A CD is placed in the CD receiver and bathed with excessive Ultraviolet light while it’s playing. In testing, this treatment has been shown to mitigate the transfer of COVID-19, COVID-20, the common flu and a host of other germs and viruses that live on the surface of objects by up to 28%. Dave Hoag, JVCKENWOOD’s Executive VP stated: “This is the first environmentally and socially conscience automotive receiver to come to market. It’s a game changer.”

KENWOOD plans to expand this technology into DVD receivers in late 2022. When asked if the UV light in the CD receiver could affect the laser’s ability to track the CD, Rick Noetzli, KENWOOD’s Sr. Product Manager said: “The light only diminishes the receiver’s ability to read the disc by 15%, and we found that playback fidelity only decreased 15-18%. Our study groups showed that the compromise was still better than most compressed audio files, and acceptable for people to finally feel safe in their cars.”

The KDC-X569UV will be available in early 2022, at a projected retail price of $699.00 (based on decreased chip availability, increased parts costs, tariffs, and shipping costs).

A built-in shock sensor allows the Drive Recorder to instantly begin storing video and audio from an impact or collision while the vehicle is parked, and incident locations are geotagged with onboard GPS.

The Drive Recorder can be set to continuously record video to a removable SD card. (An 8GB card is included, and it can accommodate up to a 32GB SD card.) Video can be viewed on the internal screen, or by downloading KENWOOD’s PC application and transferring the SD card to a computer. The unit turns on and off with vehicle ignition and can also record when the vehicle is parked thanks to its built-in rechargeable battery.
In its driver assistance package, the Drive Recorder includes lane departure warning, emitting a series of audible tones when the driver strays outside of road lane markers. Collision avoidance monitors the distance and speed of the car or object in front of the vehicle and sounds an alert if an impact is imminent. The sensor system also includes a distraction deterrent, which alerts the driver when stopped traffic ahead of the vehicle has started moving. Each of the driver assistance features can be selectively turned on or off to fit driver preference.

Hawaii independent sales representative worked with KENWOOD since 2014

Matsumura passed away on July 11 of a sudden heart attack at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife Coleen Matsumura, their children Carley and Cody Matsumura, and his sister Cheryl Bailey.

Robert and his wife Coleen started Paradise Marketing in Waipahu, Hawaii in 2002 to service mobile electronics retailers throughout the state. The small firm joined the KENWOOD family in 2014.

When 2 KFC-XW1241HP (Single 4-ohm coil, MSRP $179.95) subwoofers are paired together, they are power matched perfectly for the eXcelon Reference XR1001-1, which provides 1000 Watts of RMS power at 2 ohms. The KFC-XW1221HP (Single 2-ohm coil, MSRP $179.95) follows up as a perfect match with eXcelon X502-1 amplifier, which delivers 500 Watts RMS power at 2 ohms in a single sub configuration.  With a heavy focus on thermal management, a large multi-layered voice coil and aluminum bobbin provide efficient heat transfer, while a closed yoke enhances heat radiation and airflow. More accurate bass is delivered from a high-rigidity two-piece diaphragm with Dual Area Cap structure, keeping low notes under tight control. Enclosure requirements also won’t be much of an issue, with its fairly shallow 5-3/4” (147mm) mounting depth. LONG BEACH, CALIF. -- January 8th, 2020 -- At this year’s CES at the Las Vegas Convention Center, KENWOOD USA announced the addition of three new Hi-Res Audio speakers that will begin shipping this month. From the eXcelon Reference line, these speakers are designed to deliver accurately detailed, powerful sound, desired by the most critical of listeners.  The XR-1801P 7”(18cm) component set (MSRP $449.95), XR-1701P 6-1/2”(17cm) component set (MSRP $399.95) and XR-1701 6.5”(17cm) coax set (MSRP $249.95) all offer higher power handling and more versatile installation options than their predecessors.  

With a focus on factory integration and sound quality reproduction, these speakers offer versatile mounting options for most current vehicle demands where space is a premium and complex adapters are required for proper fitment.

The oversized 7” glass fiber cone mid-bass drivers from the XR-1801P components fit nicely into many Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, and Nissan factory speaker locations. With the included direct-fit multi-bracket, this increases the woofer surface area over factory speakers, providing louder and more responsive mid-bass performance, simply utilizing existing hardware and the correct adaptor without the need to modify factory mounts.  An all-new 1-3/16”(30mm) Titanium hard dome wide-range super tweeter offers flexible mounting options, including a flush mount for that custom or “factory-like” fitment. Power handling is hard to beat, with an amazing 120 Watts RMS at 3 ohms, while still being able to reproduce frequencies from 35 Hz to 40 kHz(-10dB)!

The XR-1701P component set utilizes 6-1/2” glass giber cone mid bass drivers that fit directly into many standard 6-1/2” speaker openings. They also benefit from an improved surround roll shape and new woofer center cap with tuning rib, of which the XR-1801P shares as well. This component set can reproduce clean detail at a constant 100 Watts RMS at 3 ohms, with a 43 Hz to 40 kHz(-10dB) frequency response. Both sets include a bi-amp crossover network, along with a -3dB tweeter attenuation option, for even more control over this already extremely capable component set!

To complete this trio, the XR-1701 6-1/2” coax speaker set will give you similar performance as the component sets, but with the simplicity of an all-in-one speaker with a center mounted 1-3/16” (30mm) Titanium hard dome wide-range super tweeter and built-in High-quality capacitor. This set can handle a continuous 100 Watts of RMS power at 3 ohms, with a 45 Hz-to 40 kHz(-10dB) response, and will be a great option when a separate tweeter is not required.
