Wednesday, August 23, 2023 - Oklahoma City, OK - DD AUDIO®, a manufacturer of high-quality mobile audio products is proud to introduce the “f” revision of their venerable 600 Series subwoofers. In the previous “e” revision they got bigger and better; this latest “f” revision received thermal cooling engineering enhancements, making them even more efficient when performing for longer periods of time.

DD AUDIO’s design philosophy is to maximize efficiency first, optimizing power to sound as best as possible. This was the design basis behind their Free Flow Cooling System back in 2000. They introduced cross drilled cooling vents through the pole piece and top plates, gap vents in the voice coil gap and cooling holes in the voice coil. The harder the speaker played, the more air was pumped through the motor. Heat is a byproduct of vigorous play, motivating their engineering to continuously push the boundaries of what is possible.

The 600 Series revision “f” incorporates added thermal transfer, facilitating the movement of heat from heat-generating regions to cooler areas, thereby increasing the thermal movement from the voice coil outward. The collaboration of a freshly machined aluminum cooling tube positioned within the pole vent and a substantially thicker, vented aluminum rear motor heat sink synergistically achieves optimal heat extraction. This enables any sound enthusiast to play louder and longer.

Increased power demands greater Xmax, and the enhanced excursion of the new 600f model meets this requirement. With the top plate increased to 20mm and the voice coil winding lengths extended, coupled with the presence of both motor steel and billet aluminum, more effective heat dissipation from the coil is achieved across all conditions, ultimately optimizing long-term electrical efficiency.

Increased Xmax and excursion necessitated enhancements to the moving system as well. Taller surrounds have been tooled and spider refined to fully optimize the new motor design. The taller surrounds are double-stitched to fiberglass loaded, non-pressed cones and the utilization of double layer, multiple spiders uphold DD tradition of long term durability.

More Xmax and more excursion, combined with a cool as “f”, super edgy heatsink and motor boot designs make these revisions the mother “f” of all revisions!
