The Industry's #1 Resource

Miramar, FL—April 13, 2017— JL Audio launches a new series of coaxial and component speaker systems designed for installation into OEM (factory) speaker locations. The new C1 line of speakers covers all the key sizes with less models and is packed with features typically found at much higher price points.

Careful consideration was taken during the development of the C1 line of speakers to ensure fitment in a wide range of today’s top selling models of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Frontal tweeter protrusion, mounting depth, and mounting diameter were all analyzed for maximum installation flexibility. Additional adaptor rings (model specific) are included for bottom-mount applications and for compatibility with unique OEM speaker frame designs (GM, Honda, etc.) as well as oversized 6.75-inch openings. Combine the attention to fitment with features like aluminum dome tweeters, oversized voice coils, and integrated lead wires; the result is unsurpassed value and performance.

“This year we set out to solidify JL Audio as a full-range speaker company. The introduction of C1 anchors our offering in the category and provides the first time buyer a taste of amazing sound from the factory speaker location” said Manville Smith, VP of Marketing.

Miramar, FL, April 3, 2018 — JL Audio, an innovator in high-end audio solutions, today announced the restructuring of its U.S. Sales team in a move designed to drive future growth.

Going forward, Carl Kennedy will assume the role of Vice President-Specialty Market Sales. His area of responsibility will now include the rapidly growing powersports segment: off-road vehicles, motorcycles and snowmobiles. Mr. Kennedy will oversee the company’s product mix, distribution and overall sales initiatives for these specialty markets. He will also continue to manage California, Nevada and the Rocky Mountain states for the Retail Sales division. Kennedy joined JL Audio in 2003 and was instrumental in JL Audio’s expansion into home audio products, later leading the company’s U.S. Sales department.

Brian Power has been promoted to Vice President-U.S. Retail Sales, a role in which he will be responsible for overseeing the company’s thriving business in car audio, home audio and marine audio retail channels. Power joined the company in 2007 and has established a strong record of sales management success in his time at JL Audio.

JL Audio President, Andy Oxenhorn said: “Over the past ten years, JL Audio has experienced outstanding growth, and a great deal of that is due to our success in specialty categories. As these categories emerge, develop and mature, it is very important to have highly qualified and focused management. This restructuring is aimed at doing exactly that. Brian and Carl are skilled sales professionals and we expect to see great results from their efforts in the coming years.”

The new structure becomes effective immediately.

3/4/2016 -- JL Audio is now shipping its new, full-featured marine audio source unit which was introduced in January at The Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas. The MediaMaster® MM100s marks JL Audio’s entry into this important product category and completes what is an already extensive lineup of high-end, marine audio products.

The MediaMaster® MM100s is purpose-built for marine duty, with marine-grade, weatherproof construction (IP66 rated), and incorporates advanced audio features, specifically tailored to marine applications.

JL Audio’s president, Andrew Oxenhorn said: “The MediaMaster is a very important product for us, as it creates an opportunity to build a full JL Audio marine sound system, from source unit to amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers. This is the high-end source unit our customers have been asking for, and we are thrilled to launch it in 2016.”

In keeping with its mission to offer a higher level of marine audio performance,
JL Audio deleted the typical chip amplifiers used in most marine source units. Instead, the MM100s is equipped with audiophile-quality, 4V RMS preamp-level audio circuits, deployed in an 8-channel architecture. This design offers excellent system control flexibility in a wide range of marine audio system configurations:

  • Main Audio Zone features bass, midrange, treble and balance controls.
  • Audio Zone 2 is a full-range zone with independent bass, midrange, treble and balance controls, plus absolute or relative volume control.
  • Audio Zone 3 can be assigned as a Subwoofer Zone or as a 3rd Full-Range Zone with independent bass, midrange, treble, balance controls, plus absolute or relative volume control.
  • Audio Zone 4 is a fixed level zone
  • Zones 1-3 feature a zero-clipping audio circuit design, with self-limiting tone controls to prevent speaker system damage.

The source functionality of the MM100s is designed for today’s modern media environment, and does not include any mechanical media formats. In addition to a built-in AM/FM/Weather Band tuner, the MM100s offers a wide range of connectivity options for external devices:

  • Bluetooth® audio streaming with AptX® CODEC and full control of play/pause and track up/down functions.
  • USB 2.0 direct-digital connection for an iPhone® or USB storage device.
  • SiriusXMReady™: Connect to the SiriusXM SXV300 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit (sold separately, subscription required) to listen to commercial-free music; premier sports talk and live events; exclusive talk and entertainment; comedy; news; and up-to-the-minute traffic and weather.
  • Analog auxiliary input for connection to a wide range of audio sources
  • A NMEA 2K-compliant CAN bus is also on board to aid in connection to compatible marine electronics.

The physical design of the MM100s is carefully engineered to deliver excellent ergonomics in real marine applications:

  • Intuitive interface with large text for easy legibility while in motion.
  • Large buttons and control knob for ease of use in marine applications.
  • High-brightness, full-color 3.5-inch LCD display offers Day/Night lighting modes with user-defined display brightness, button brightness, remote brightness and display themes.
  • Optional MMR-20 round remote controls can be installed throughout the vessel if additional control points are needed.

JL Audio Executive VP, Jeff Scoon said: “The audio engineering team focused on making a better sounding head unit, the hardware team on making a classy looking product that could withstand real marine conditions, and the software team created a beautiful interface that works great on the water. We are extremely excited with the end result and can’t wait to get the MediaMaster into the market.”

The MediaMaster MM100s will be sold by JL Audio’s car audio and marine audio dealer base, and will also be incorporated into select new boats as original equipment.

Las Vegas, NV—Palms Casino Resort—January 5, 2017—JL Audio, maker of high-end audio solutions, unveiled a new series of ultra-premium component speakers, designed for car audio systems. According to the company, the introduction of C7 has been highly anticipated and will further solidify the JL Audio brand as a maker of full-range car speakers.

The C7 project was led by CEO and Chief Engineer, Lucio Proni, with a mission to create the finest-ever JL Audio component speakers. To achieve this, he established clear performance goals and assigned the engineering resources necessary to specify and develop each C7 speaker as a clean-sheet design.

“C7 is an expression of our commitment to achieving the best reproduction possible in the car audio environment. These component speakers are the natural complement to our W6v3 and W7AE subwoofer drivers, and they offer listeners a level of fidelity and dynamic capability that is truly special.” said Lucio Proni, CEO and Chief Engineer.

The C7 component woofer’s dust cap went through ten prototype generations before arriving at the solution that resulted in the smoothest response and the best mechanical integrity. These details, and hundreds of others like them, simply had to be perfect for Mr. Proni and the design team to be satisfied.

You will not find a passive crossover network in the C7 line. This is a completely deliberate omission. The designers assumed that systems built with C7 speakers would avoid technical compromises, so they designed the C7 speakers with active crossovers in mind. These duties will typically be handled by a high quality DSP, such as JL Audio’s TwK™ 88, or D8.

Using JL Audio’s guidelines for C7 setup as a starting point, the power of a DSP can be used to optimize the performance of the C7 speaker system to its specific application. The system designer can use delay, crossover parameters and precise equalization to adjust for speaker placement, cabin acoustics and target response.

In the end, all these efforts lead to a spectacular musical presentation, easily exceeding the performance boundaries of typical, high-end, car audio speaker systems.

MIRAMAR, Flor., – July 1, 2020 - Clarion Marine is positioned to make 2020 a breakout year by returning to the retail marine audio channel, under the management of JL Audio, Inc. The company has expanded Clarion Marine’s distributor base and is building a network of specialty retailers. This follows JL Audio, Inc.’s licensing of the Clarion Marine brand from Clarion Co., Ltd. of Japan, an agreement not affected by the subsequent acquisition of Clarion Co., Ltd. by Faurecia, a global automotive supplier based in France.
