The Industry's #1 Resource

June 10, 2020 -- Coral Springs, Florida -- NAV-TV Corp., a leading innovator and manufacturer of OEM integration and safety products for the automotive aftermarket, announces the ZEN-25 preamplifier interface for select 2004 to 2019 BMW vehicles with M.O.S.T.® 25 factory amplified sound systems.

Traditional audio integration devices convert a high- level output from the factory radio or amplifier to low- level, or manipulate a fixed preamp level audio signal. However, this method relies on the factory radio or amplifier to perform the digital to analog conversion (D/A) and may lead to less than ideal sound quality.  Unlike traditional devices, the ZEN-25 for BMW extracts the audio directly from the M.O.S.T.®  25 digital audio stream and performs the D/A conversion internally. Utilizing a 32 bit floating point DSP and 44.1kHz 32 bit DAC, the ZEN-25 produces a 12 channel analog output at 17 volts peak-to-peak with an extremely low noise floor and a S/N Ratio of 114dB.

Utilizing the same processing power as NAV-TV’s competition-proven M650-GM, the ZEN-25 produces a completely flat audio output without any factory time delay or equalization, eliminating the need for summing devices, an audio correction DSP or the removal of the factory audio compensation microphones. Volume, Fade[1], Balance, Bass/Treble and the factory 7-band EQ are retained through the BMW factory radio and echo cancellation for the factory phone system is supported.

To maximize system flexibility, the ZEN-25 comes standard with a software suite that allows the user to assign warning chimes and phone audio to any channel they desire. The chime and phone volume are adjustable per channel and are independent from the audio stream. For use in BMW systems where a DSP is not installed, the ZEN-25 contains two different time alignment settings that can be selected through the factory Logic 7 button. This allows the user to assign two different optimum listening positions in the vehicle and, combined with the factory 7-band EQ, offers the user greater system tuning flexibility, at an affordable price.

For use with third-party digital sound processors[2], the ZEN-25 includes a variable TOSlink digital output which may be used simultaneously with the analog outputs, or by itself. For use with processors that support simultaneous TOSlink and analog audio inputs, the ZEN-25 allows the user to strip audio from any analog output, assign the TOSlink to either Front Fading or fixed, and to use the analog outputs to only mix in warning chimes. The variable digital output allows for the system volume to be controlled via the factory radio and steering wheel controls without the need to access any third-party controller.

In BMW vehicles that have the ability to play a DVD movie, The ZEN-25 supports Dolby® and DTS® 5.1 playback[3]. For system designs that do not include a center channel speaker, NAV-TV has enabled a “mix down” feature that puts the vocals in a Dolby or DTS encoded audio stream into the left and right front speakers while maintaining stereo separation.

The ZEN-25 (NTV-KIT969) for BMW is available and shipping now. For more information on the ZEN-25, or to place an order, please contact your NAV-TV sales representative at (866) 477-3336  (USA and Canada toll free) or +1(561) 955-9770 (International), or email our sales staff at This email address is being protected from spambots. Fade is supported for Toslink only when “front fade” is selected. When TOSlink front fade is selected the TOSlink must be used for the front speakers only. The rear, center and sub channels, in this configuration, are fed from the ZEN-25 analog rear, center and sub outputs.

[2] Please refer to the operation and installation manual of your 3rd party DSP or device, or contact the manufacturer directly. Although NAV-TV has tested numerous 3rd Party DSP devices for compatibility with the ZEN-A2B, we cannot provide technical support on 3rd party products.

[3] Dolby and DTS 5.1 is only supported using the analog outputs. If only TOSlink is used, select “downmix on” in the system configuration settings.
