Brandmotion LLC and Mobileye Aftermarket announced that Brandmotion will offer integration of the visual alerts of the Mobileye Aftermarket collision avoidance solution into the rear-view mirror.
Mobileye Aftermarket users typically mount the Mobileye EyeWatch™ display unit onto the dashboard, which provides visual cues such as vehicle and pedestrian icons, accompanied by audible alerts to help the driver avoid a collision. Brandmotion’s integration of the EyeWatch™ icons allows for the alerts to be shown in the mirror, eliminating the need to mount the EyeWatch™ elsewhere and providing for a more sophisticated, factory-installed appearance. This is important to the expeditor market when installing aftermarket components.
“This solution brings together the best of our two companies,” said Jeff Varick, President and CEO, Brandmotion. “We have developed a user-friendly experience combining the best technology from Mobileye, the clear leader in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and the optimal integration of the Mobileye Aftermarket driver interface from Brandmotion, leaders in the seamless integration of important safety features after the vehicle has been built.”
According to Michael Backman, General Manager, Mobileye Aftermarket USA, “This is a great solution to meet the market demand for collision avoidance systems across the millions of vehicles on the road that do not already have such a system.”
The Mobileye Aftermarket solution includes forward collision warnings for vehicles and pedestrians, headway monitoring/following time, and lane departure alerts, as well as the ability to warn drivers when speed limits are exceeded, all in one comprehensive solution.

Jeff Varick, President of Brandmotion, has been elected to the SAE International (SAE) Board of Directors. Varick will serve as Board Director through 2021.
Brandmotion is an integrated safety products distributor with OEM-quality retrofit solutions that are sold through a North American network of over 2,500 automotive aftermarket dealers. The company is an inaugural member of the University of Michigan Mobility Transformation Center (Mcity), and was named Manufacturer of the Year in 2015-2016 by the SEMA PRO Council. This past year, Varick was honored by the same group within SEMA as Person of the Year for his leadership in taking the aftermarket into the Connected Vehicle age.
“I have a background in working with industries going through disruption,” said Varick, alluding to the current state of the industry. “I’ve navigated all parts of the auto industry and our company is on the forefront of some interesting aspects that deal with how the auto industry is changing. I hope to help SAE be proactively on the forefront of our industry evolution.”
Varick brings three decades of experience across a vast array of industry specializations to the SAE Board. Before forming Brandmotion, Jeff held a wide variety of product development, business development and marketing strategy leadership roles within the global automotive industry, including Director of New Product Strategy for Johnson Controls, new business development manager for GM International Operations in Zurich, Switzerland, and design engineer at GMs Design Studios in Warren Michigan.
At the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, held November 3-6 in Las Vegas, Brandmotion was honored with the prestigious Manufacturer of the Year award by the Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) council in recognition of outstanding performance and dedication to the restyling industry. The presentation was made at the PRO Industry Awards reception during the show.
"We are honored to receive this award and to be recognized by SEMA, the PRO council and our peers in the industry," said Jeff Varick, president and founder of Brandmotion. "We know that active participation in SEMA and PRO is crucial to growth and success of the larger infrastructure that makes our business possible. We sincerely thank everyone involved in the selection process."
The Manufacturer of the Year Award is presented annually to recognize a company that best represents the industry's core values through exemplary business practices, quality products and active participation in the support of the automotive aftermarket. The nomination and selection process are the result of voting by the PRO Council's general membership. Past winners include 3M, Check Corp. and Roadwire.
Brandmotion has been a member of the PRO council for the past three years, and an exhibitor at the SEMA Show since 2010. This year, the company demonstrated an advanced multi-camera system for cars and trucks that delivers a 360-degree view around the vehicle for uncompromising awareness when parking and maneuvering. Also on display was the ADAS+ system, which adds lane departure warning, forward collision warning and video recording to any vehicle.
"Our mission as a company has always been to bring solutions to the aftermarket that enrich the driving experience and deliver integrated safety enhancement features," added Varick. "Our newest products represent advanced technology that enables drivers to have the same critical safety systems that come as standard equipment on many new vehicles. We feel the 2015 Manufacturer of the Year award is a direct reflection of our dedication to making driving safer and more fulfilling, and providing new business opportunities for our customers."

Fresh off a vibrant Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in which Brandmotion received Manufacturer of the Year honors from the association's Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) council, the supplier of factory-grade safety solutions to the aftermarket announced it had expanded the number of applications for its multi-camera systems; specifically in its 360 Vision line.
The additional SKUs allow the company to offer an uncompromising view while parking and maneuvering on trucks from 2004 to 2016 if equipped with compatible factory radio screens.
"This was a very important step for us," said Brandmotion President and Founder Jeff Varick. "Our mission has always been to provide drivers with enhanced safety and convenience systems on the aftermarket side, yet ensure that they are tightly and seamlessly integrated into the factory functionality of the vehicle's existing components. Ours is not the first 360-degree system on the market, but it is one of the best in delivering a factory experience, from the matching OEM-grade wiring harnesses to the ergonomic ease of use. It's a great system for F-Series owners, and you can expect us to add more vehicle-specific applications for the technology."
While the upcoming federal mandate requires that all vehicles have at least a single back-up camera, many vehicle manufacturers are equipping vehicles with two-camera systems to show front and rear views. Still others have employed a four-camera system with on-board processing that stitches the four views together to create a "Birds-eye view" of the vehicle's surroundings in real time.
In its 2015 Vehicle Rear Vision Market Study, Brandmotion identified several trims in the F-Series line that either require expensive trim package upgrades to get a camera system, or simply don't have one available.
The Brandmotion 360-degree Vision system consists of four high-resolution cameras, two of which are designed to fit under the side mirrors and provide a 185-degree view. The third is flush-mounted in the front bumper, while the rear-view camera is embedded in a vehicle-specific tailgate handle.
Users see the rear view automatically when the vehicle is put into reverse gear, overlaid with distance park lines to aid in maneuvering, with a smaller top-down vehicle view alongside. The driver can then select between multiple views including the top-down view and split-screen views from each camera.
Currently, Brandmotion's 360-degree Vision system covers the following models:
• Part No. AVMS-3614 – 2015 and newer F-150 with 4-inch MyFord Factory Display
• Part No. AVMS-3618 – 2015 and newer F-150 with 8-inch MyTouch Factory Display
• Part No. AVMS-3604 – 2012-2014 F-150 with 4-inch MyFord Factory Display
• Part No. AVMS-3608 – 2013-2014 F-Series with 8-inch MyTouch Factory Display
• Part No. AVMS-3600 –2004 and newer F-Series with composite-input (RCA-type) video display
All vehicle-specific kits carry an MSRP of $1229.95 plus installation, while the universal AVMS-3600 has a suggested retail price of $999.95 plus installation. In addition to the 360-degree Vision system, Brandmotion offers vehicle-specific, multi-camera systems for several vehicle brands equipped with factory display radios, including Ram, Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge. OEM-look sensors reliably keep driver informed in any weather.
SOUTHFIELD, MICH., February 19, 2019 (MEDIAWIRE) – Brandmotion LLC, leading supplier of advanced safety systems for the automotive aftermarket, announced it is shipping the first vehicle-specific application of its integrated radar blind spot detection system. Built for 2015-current Ford F-150 trucks, the RBDS-1520 features proximity sensors that seamlessly and stylishly mount to the factory rear bumper. The RBDS-1520 received the Best New Truck & SUV Product award during its SEMA 2018 debut.
The sensors mount on each corner of the rear bumper, within housings that match the curves, materials, color, texture and contours for a factory-installed look. Within the housings, the radar-enabled proximity sensors are pre-calibrated specifically for the Ford F-150, saving installation time and ensuring OEM reliability for the driver.
The radar blind spot system activates when the vehicle travels above 15 miles per hour and monitors the area beside and behind the truck to a distance of 40 feet. Its smart sensing technology ignores vehicles more than one lane away as well as stationary objects. The pillar-mounted, day / night indicators light when a vehicle is detected in the covered area. If a turn signal is applied while a vehicle is in the truck's blind spot, the appropriate warning indicator will flash repeatedly to tell the driver it is not safe to change lanes.
In addition to blind spot monitoring, the RBDS-1520 features an aftermarket industry-exclusive cross-traffic monitoring system. Activated when the vehicle is put into reverse gear, the system warns the driver with an audible alert and indicator light if it senses vehicles, people or other objects that may cross behind the vehicle while it is backing up.
"With more than two million late-model trucks on the road, the F-150 is one of the nation's most popular vehicles for work or play, whether it's construction, hauling toys or making small business deliveries," said Jeff Varick, president of Brandmotion. "As such, there are several factors that can lead to lane-changing accidents, from simple driver distraction to loads that obstruct the driver's view. We developed blind spot radar detection system for the F-150 to give drivers confidence knowing they have an always-on system that helps them maintain road awareness under any road conditions.”
The RBDS-1520 is available from authorized Brandmotion representatives and distributors. For more information, please visit brandmotion.com.
Vehicle-specific, weather-resistant systems include reverse-gear cross traffic alert
SOUTHFIELD, MICH., January 16, 2017 (MEDIAWIRE) – Brandmotion LLC announced it has begun shipping its Radar Blind Spot system, RBDS-1400, to retailers nationwide. The system was introduced at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas. Paired with vehicle-specific mounting brackets, the RBDS-1400 gives aftermarket retailers the ability to sell an Original Equipment system that is proven to reduce accidents while driving and maneuvering.
"After announcing our commitment to Vision Zero and changing our tagline to 'Safer Cars Today,' delivering this life-saving product shows we are putting our efforts behind our words," said Jeff Varick, president of Brandmotion. "Driver blind spots account for more than 800,000 accidents and 300 fatalities per year. While manufacturers are beginning to embrace the detection systems in newer vehicles, the aftermarket needs a proven solution for the millions of vehicles already on the road."
The RBDS-1400 (MSRP $729.95) consists of a central processor and two radar sensors that are installed behind the bumper at the rear corners of the vehicle. Within the cabin, blind spot warning indicators are installed on the A-pillars. The system begins monitoring above 15 miles per hour. If it senses a vehicle in the blind spot, it illuminates the indicator light, and will further emit an audible tone if the turn signal is applied while a vehicle is in the blind spot.
Because radar sensors are used rather than side-mounted cameras, they are completely hidden from view and do not affect the vehicle exterior appearance in any way. Also, they are not affected by bad weather.
In addition to blind spot monitoring, the RBDS-1400 includes an aftermarket industry exclusive cross-traffic monitoring system. Activated when the vehicle is put into reverse gear, the system warns the driver with an audible alert and indicator light if it senses vehicles, people or other objects that may cross behind the vehicle while it is backing up.
The RDBS-1400 must be combined with vehicle-specific mounting kits for the sensors. Currently, Brandmotion offers 11 kits at $49.95 MSRP that fit late-model Mercedes-Benz C Class; BMW 3 and 4 Series; Ford Escape, Fusion and Transit; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango; GM Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon; Toyota Camry, Highlander and RAV 4; and Chevrolet Impala.

Front-view and universal-mount kits allow for custom views with up to six cameras
SOUTHFIELD, MICH., March 1, 2017 (MEDIAWIRE) – This week, Brandmotion LLC, supplier of vehicle safety and personalization products for the automotive aftermarket, began shipping the latest in its arsenal of vehicle-specific enhanced driver viewing systems. The new SummitView™ line gives vehicle owners the ability to create a customized camera experience with up to six switchable views, whether for traditional road use or for more extreme adventures off-road.
SummitView technology centers on an OEM-sourced camera that features a 185-degree viewing angle. Designed and tested to rigorous OEM specs, its housing is both waterproof and shockproof, and its wiring harness is impervious to the elements. Its small size and paintable surface enable it to mount to—or match with—any flat surface in or outside the vehicle.
Users can select between two primary kits and even combine them to create a larger system. The front-view kit partners the camera with a powder-coated, three-millimeter-thick metal bracket that fits behind the fairlead, giving the driver an unobstructed view of the road, trail or hill ahead. The kit is available with either a two-inch-tall bracket (Part No. 9002-8850) or a taller 3.35-inch bracket (Part No. 9002-8853).
The second kit allows for additional cameras or custom applications with a version of the camera designed for flat-surface mounting. Available in either a single-camera package (Part No. 9002-8851) or a dual-camera package (Part No. 9002-8852), the kit enables recreational users to mount a camera in front of each tire to see ruts and obstacles on climbs, or even get undercarriage views to avoid hang-ups.
Additionally, drivers can control camera views on an aftermarket or factory display radio with either a two-camera switcher (Part No. 9002-6117) or a more capable controller with up to six camera inputs (Part No. 9002-6118). As both controllers accept trigger signals to select which camera can be viewed, enthusiasts can connect them to an sPOD™ switching and source system for seamless control with a factory appearance.
“These camera kits present exciting new possibilities for off-road enthusiasts,” said Brandmotion President Jeff Varick. “While driving safety is still their primary function, the ability to see around or under the vehicle while navigating technical climbs adds an element of fun. We look forward to seeing all of the creative ways that drivers use them to personalize their vehicles.”
The front-view options both carry an MSRP of $269.95. The stand-alone single camera kit retails for $169.95, while the two-camera system has a $299.95 suggested retail price. For more information, visit brandmotion.com and click on the SummitView Cameras menu link.
