The Decision was Issued on June 28, 2020 by the Intellectual Property Division of the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court; Enforcing Oracle’s Intellectual Property Rights Against an Infringing Chinese Factory

METAIRE, LA, USA, July 9, 2020 – Oracle Lighting (www.oraclelights.com), an innovator in high quality LED lighting solutions for the automotive industry, is proud to announce that it has successfully defended its intellectual property rights by recently winning its legal battle against a Chinese-based manufacturer of imitation products.

“Shortly after we unveiled our Vector™ LED Grill System at a trade show in 2017, Chinese knockoffs began appearing,” explained Justin Hartenstein, Director of Product Development at Oracle Lighting. “After nearly a year of work designing and developing this product, it was honestly heartbreaking to find knockoff products pop up online. I had seen this happen before to other manufacturers in our industry and decided that we were not going to stand for this blatant design theft. We worked with our IP attorney, Jeffrey Banyas of Edwin A. Sisson, Attorney at Law, LLC, to develop and execute a strategy to take action against the overseas knockoff producers. I knew it would not be easy but I had no idea where this journey would take us.”

The decision was issued on June 28, 2020 by the Intellectual Property Division of the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court (Case No. [2019] Suzhou 05 Intellectual Property First Instance No.580). The court found that the defendant’s products fall into the scope of protection of Oracle Lighting’s Chinese Design Patent Registration No. ZL201830136860.7, and thus infringes the patent.

The court’s decision includes an order for the defendant to immediately cease infringing upon Oracle Lighting’s patent. The court also ordered the defendant pay significant monetary damages to Oracle Lighting and ordered that the defendant pay certain court costs associated with the litigation. In doing so, the court also rejected the defendant’s arguments that they had come up with the design for this particular grill prior to Oracle Lighting filing its design patent application.

“In order for us to file litigation against the infringing company, the Chinese court explained that we had to first complete a ‘notarized purchase’, which basically translates to us having to conduct our own sting operation,” Hartenstein continued. “Our attorney assisted us in hiring private investigators overseas who, after months of investigation, used a cover story to gain access to the factory and, with hidden cameras, obtained evidence of the counterfeit parts. The entire operation had to be covert because these factories producing knockoff goods are often designed to be packed up and moved overnight, making them hard to pin down. Once our legal team in China presented this evidence to the judge, the court issued a demand to the factory to shut down production and the nearly two-year-long litigation process began. This was a massive undertaking for our company but I pursued this in the hope that it provides insight for other small businesses trying to protect their intellectual property rights overseas. It was not easy but these results demonstrate that even overseas counterfeiters can be held accountable. Oracle Lighting takes our intellectual property rights very seriously and we are willing to do whatever it takes to prevent the blatant theft of our patented designs.”

Banyas explained that Oracle Lighting asked his firm to develop and implement a plan to protect its products against overseas knockoffs and counterfeits. “This was no easy task as those who deal in illegal products often take extensive measures to insulate themselves from liability and accountability,” he explained. “Through our firms’ extensive network of private investigators and international law firms, we identified the factory making the knockoff products and obtained all of the evidence we needed to enforce Oracle Lighting’s Intellectual Property Rights. We thank the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court for giving us a fair day in court and we hope that this decision serves as a strong example to other American companies that they can enforce their Intellectual Property Rights in China, and they do not simply have to accept lost market share to Chinese knockoffs and counterfeit products as an inevitable cost of doing business. I applaud the folks at Oracle Lighting for bucking that trend, and I am proud to have spearheaded the efforts that lead to these successful results.”

Designed for use on the Jeep Wrangler, Oracle Lighting's innovative Vector™ Grill has earned the company awards from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), including a 2018 Global Media Award and a runner-up award for the SEMA Best New Exterior Accessory Product of 2019.

The Court’s decision is still subject to an appeal to the Jiangsu Higher Court.

N60t and N40t bring tube-driven tonality to car audio

MIAMI, FLA., July 9, 2020 (MEDIAWIRE) – Nakamichi USA announced it is shipping two models of tube-driven, multi-channel car audio amplifiers to the North American market. The N60t and N40t comprise the brand’s premium amplifier line and feature the legendary sound-enhancing characteristics of tube valve technology.

First introduced in 1906, tube amplifiers gained prominence in the early to mid-1900s due to their simplicity of design and scalability for different applications. In the 1960s they took their storied place in the audio industry, becoming known for their tone and perceived “warmth” of sound. Their use declined in the 70s with the emergence of the smaller, less-power-hungry transistor, but tube amplifiers remain a niche favorite today among audiophiles, professional musicians and recording studios.

The six-channel, Class AB N60t offers 100 watts RMS from each of its six channels at four ohms. The channel pairs can be bridged to produce 300 watts through three channels or can be loaded to output 150 watts through six channels at two ohms. Inputs accommodate four channels of high-level speaker outputs from the radio or up six channels at line level. The four-channel N40t adds 50 watts per channel at four ohms (150Wx4 RMS) and 75 watts per channel at two ohms (225Wx2 RMS). It can be bridged and loaded to one ohm, producing 450 watts from each of two channels.

Both models utilize one 12AX7 vacuum tube per set of inputs in the preamplifier section. Designed in 1946, the 12AX7 is still used in guitar amplifiers to enrich and “fatten” their tone. The amplifier casings feature a transparent cover to showcase the tubes and internal components, and each kit includes all mounting accessories plus a pair of gloves to safely handle the tubes.

“Since 1948 the Nakamichi brand has been synonymous with no-compromise audio reproduction, and this is a characteristic we’ve sought to emphasize in the car audio segment,” said Robin McNeal, national sales manager for Nakamichi USA Car Audio. “The N40t and N60t feature the power to be the centerpiece of a custom high-end audio system, and the flexibility to integrate into factory installed, premium audio systems. We designed them to cater to drivers who want to bring the musicality and tone of their tube-driven home audio experiences with them on the road.”

MSRPs are $1,799.95 for the N60t and $1,599.99 for the N40t. For more information on the amplifiers, visit nakamichicaraudio.com. To place an order or become a Nakamichi dealer or territorial representative, contact Robin McNeal at (702) 558-4447.

Starting this summer, Clarion Marine will bring new products to a renewed network of authorized retailers.

MIRAMAR, Flor., – July 1, 2020 - Clarion Marine is positioned to make 2020 a breakout year by returning to the retail marine audio channel, under the management of JL Audio, Inc. The company has expanded Clarion Marine’s distributor base and is building a network of specialty retailers. This follows JL Audio, Inc.’s licensing of the Clarion Marine brand from Clarion Co., Ltd. of Japan, an agreement not affected by the subsequent acquisition of Clarion Co., Ltd. by Faurecia, a global automotive supplier based in France.

Since the licensing agreement went into effect in late 2018, JL Audio hired a dedicated group of product planners, engineers and supply chain experts to form a product development team that could lead Clarion Marine’s return to prominence in the marine audio market. The first wave of new products from this team will debut this summer, with many more products scheduled for delivery in 2021.

“Clarion has a deep history as a pioneering car audio company, and a particularly strong reputation as a marine audio brand. We accepted the challenge to return Clarion Marine to a leadership position with products that are relevant, well-priced and able to deliver a great customer experience,” said Andy Oxenhorn, President of JL Audio, Inc.  “It’s very exciting to see the product development team’s hard work come to market. With our disciplined marketing and distribution plan, we expect Clarion Marine to set new records for sales by 2023.”

The Clarion Marine product line is well-focused at key retail price points and will rely on a distribution model that recognizes the value of approved brick and mortar retail outlets. Key distribution partners sharing the company’s vision for the Clarion Marine brand will also play a key role in some markets. A select group of authorized internet retailers, meeting Clarion Marine’s high standards, will be authorized to sell online.

JL Audio, Inc’s network of sales representatives will manage retail accounts across the United States, guided by the JL Audio, Inc’s sales team. VP of US Retail Sales, Brian Power said, “We have such a great opportunity in front of us, with a great plan for Clarion Marine that complements our well-established JL Audio brand. Our sales team is already hard at work, looking for the best opportunities for success in each market.”

Manville Smith, VP of Marketing for JL Audio, Inc. said, “Our new Clarion Marine tagline, ‘Let’s Hear It.’, anchors our brand message for Clarion Marine. We will focus on communicating in human-centered terms that emphasize the enjoyment our products bring to boaters.” Smith continued, “We will also place an emphasis on Clarion Marine’s longstanding reputation for building products that last in real marine use. We call it ‘Salt and Sun Certified,’ which is a short way of describing the intense testing and certification our products must pass.”

Clarion Marine products have already begun shipping to authorized retailers around the U.S.A. With a history spanning eight decades, Clarion has long been recognized as a trendsetter in the audio space – pioneering in the marine audio category starting in 1995. From that point forward, Clarion Marine has built a reputation for providing marine-grade products that provide an uncompromising blend of performance, value and durability. Today, Clarion Marine products come standard or as optional equipment from several top boat manufacturers and can be purchased at leading audio resellers and retailers globally. For more information, visit clarionmarine.com or follow the company on Facebook or Instagram.

Website code can be quickly generated to integrate a Vision Zero page into any existing website.

SOUTHFIELD, MICH., June 29, 2020 – The Vision Zero Automotive Network announced that it has launched a new tool for its Vision Zero Automotive Network retailers to be able to quickly add a Vision Zero page to their existing website, with no coding expertise needed. It provides a step-by-step tutorial on creating the code, and how to place it on any existing website. This provides an easy way for retailers to show their customers that they are part of the Preferred Retailer network, and to highlight the types of aftermarket driving safety products they can sell and integrate into their vehicle.

The Vision Zero Automotive Network launched its new website at vzan.org in April 2019 with a focus on educating visitors, introducing aftermarket safety technologies, and enlisting safety product manufacturers and suppliers to participate. Visitors can search for qualified retail centers by distance from their location as well as proximity to an entered address. Visitors can further refine the list based on six safety categories and more than 30 product types and services offered. To be listed, retailers must meet specific criteria to become part of the network. Retailers that feel they meet the requirements can fill out the Store Submission Form.

“Our partnership with 1sixty8 media gives us a powerful resource to create and maintain tools like this that benefit our retailer and manufacturer partners,” stated Bernie Sapienza, executive director of the Vision Zero Automotive Network. “Being part of our Preferred Retailer network is important, and now every visitor to your website can see the safety product categories you offer, learn about them, and understand why they are important for saving lives.”

Solomon Daniels will oversee process for 11th straight year

LONG BEACH, CALIF., June 23, 2020 (MEDIAWIRE)—The Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) announced that it has contracted SDG, Inc., a marketing and communications firm specializing in the automotive integration industry, to facilitate the 2020 Mobile Electronics Industry Awards. Solomon Daniels, principal of SDG, has administered the awards process for the past 10 years as part of his former role as editor-in-chief of Mobile Electronics magazine. Daniels will oversee and implement the same processes up to the determination of the winners. MEA President Chris Cook will present the winners at the annual awards ceremony, scheduled for September 27 at the Dallas Convention Center during this year’s only remaining KnoweldgeFest event.

The Industry Awards process typically begins in May and runs through to the annual awards ceremony that accompanies the Dallas KnowledgeFest event in August. But the drastic impact of the COVID-19 virus forced the pushback of the remaining three KnowledgeFest education and tradeshow events. The Indianapolis and new Orlando shows have been moved to 2021, and the flagship Dallas event has been shifted to late September this year.

The Mobile Electronics Industry Awards celebrate the best examples of the industry from the retail, technical, supplier and support sectors. The process is divided into three segments to include endorsements from every segment of the industry. Participants submit nominations which are narrowed to a list of semi-finalists. Industry members and consumers then cast votes to determine the finalists in each awards category. In some award categories, winners are chosen from their final vote rankings. For the remainder, finalists are asked to submit additional materials for review, and the winners are selected by a judging body.

“I am extremely happy to be able to continue the tradition of overseeing the Industry Awards, even in this new capacity,” said Daniels. “My commitment has always been to remain a strong advocate and participant in our industry and provide help wherever I can. To be a part of rewarding our most-accomplished performers and sharing their best practices to benefit others is one of the most fulfilling tasks I could ask for.”

Announcements about the awards process will be made in the coming days. Participants will be able to stay up to date throughout the entire awards cycle by visiting meindustryawards.com. The Multi-Patent Pending A.I.R. Solo™ (Antimicrobial Irradiation Respirator) is the World's First Wearable Ultraviolet Germicidal Face Mask That is Designed to be Worn Under Any Common Face Masks; it Neutralizes Live Viruses Such as COVID-19, and Other Pathogens, Bacterium, or Biomatter Attached to the Contaminated Fabric Mask Surface

METAIRIE, LA, June 17, 2020 – After its exceptional recent debut, Oracle Lighting, an innovator in LED lighting solutions, is now taking orders for its latest innovation: The A.I.R. Solo™ (Antimicrobial Irradiation Respirator). The wearable UVGI face mask is designed to be worn under common face masks in order to protect both users and those around them, killing live viruses such as Coronavirus, pathogens, bacterium, or other microorganisms attached to the fabric’s surface.

“We are all familiar with the CDC statement ‘Your mask protects me; my mask protects you’,” said Troy Organo, co-inventor of the product. “The A.I.R. Solo provides protection against viruses for both the user and others. High-risk individuals cannot simply rely on others to respect their health safety. The Solo provides benefits to the user while also sanitizing outgoing air to protect others. While this product is beneficial for high-risk individuals, it is for anyone going into a higher-risk environment such as public transportation, flying, or even for simply going to the grocery store.”

Ideal for both consumers and professionals alike, the A.I.R. Solo is the extra layer of protection that can help mitigate exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses as the country begins to re-open. The A.I.R. Solo has been designed and engineered in the USA and will begin shipping in July 2020 with a special pre-order introductory price of only $99.95 USD.

“N95 masks have been the go-to PPE for preventing exposure to COVID-19, but these only filter 95 percent of particulate,” explained Justin Hartenstein, Oracle Lighting director of product development. “Consumers need better assurance to be confident that they will not be exposed. A.I.R. Solo is your personal virus protector by neutralizing that remaining five percent not filtered by an N95 mask while sanitizing the contaminated mask at the same time.”

This device also benefits those who wear cloth face coverings, according to Hartenstein. “Studies have shown that respiratory pathogens on the outer surface of cloth masks can actually result in self-contamination, which is exactly what they are intended to prevent,” he said. “Because of this, we see the unique UV irradiation benefits of A.I.R. Solo as the best sanitization scenario for helping to mitigate exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses.”

Existing personal air filtration masks are designed to prevent inhalation of viruses by trapping the particles from the incoming air in the cloth material worn on the face. However, they are not designed to disinfect or neutralize these particles. Because of this, the masks can become saturated with live viruses, pathogens, bacterium, or other microorganisms attached to the fabric surfaces. Because the cloth mask becomes contaminated with use, washing a cloth mask is recommended by health officials. Unfortunately, most consumer-grade laundry detergents do not contain disinfectant; in fact, studies show that pathogens can actually be spread in the wash and can contaminate other laundry in the load.

A.I.R. Solo is worn under any common face mask and utilizes a patent-pending system to sanitize the air while simultaneously neutralizing contaminants trapped in the cloth face mask by means of short-wave ultraviolet light exposure. The ultraviolet light source is produced via UV LEDs which are integrated into the device. The spectrum of ultraviolet light is separated into various ranges, with shortest-wavelength referred to as UV-C which is considered “germicidal UV”.

“A.I.R. Solo is composed of a small cover made of an anti-microbial silicone which is worn on the face and attached with straps similar to a traditional face mask,” Hartenstein continued. “The user wears a traditional face mask (cloth mask, surgical mask, N95, etc.) over the device. A small rechargeable battery pack powers the device and can be manually turned on and off by the user. In addition to the anti-germicidal LEDs, the device also contains UV-A LEDs which provide a wider light spectrum and visible light. The visible UV-A LED functions as an indicator that the device is on and working but provides minimal anti-microbial benefits.”

Wavelengths between 200-300 nanometers, such as the UV-C LEDs integrated into the

A.I.R. Solo provide the most effective germicidal function. This is because the wavelength of UV-C irradiation utilizes photons to inactivate the virus which prevents the cell from replicating and infecting the body if inhaled. The A.I.R. Solo’s UV-C LED emitters are integrated into the airflow partition of the device which is designed to scrub the air and sterilize the cloth mask simultaneously.

Research has shown effectiveness of UV-C LEDs against Coronavirus. A recent study by Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (SETi) has demonstrated 99.9 percent effectiveness against COVID-19 and determined that COVID becomes even more sterile when placed closer to the UV-C source. The A.I.R. Solois designed to channel the incoming air within 5mm of the UV-C source providing increased effectiveness and sterilization.

Is it safe?

For years hospitals and labs have used ultraviolet light for disinfection and medical sanitation against viruses. Commonly known as “Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation,” UVGI is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by disrupting their DNA in a manner which renders the cells inactive and unable to perform cellular functions. Testing has shown that no measurable amount of UV-C light is directed towards the user wearing the device.

“UV-C light has been used in many applications such as the purification of drinking water for decades,” said Hartenstein. “While UV-C is part of the normal spectrum of sunlight, it is invisible and can cause sunburn with direct skin exposure. This was taken into account when developing the A.I.R. Solo, and the UV light is outward and away from the user to prevent any direct skin exposure. Testing has shown that no measurable amount of UV-C light is directed towards the user wearing the device.”

Additional A.I.R. Device models are scheduled to be released in 2021.
