Automotive Validation Technician

AW Technical Center USA, INC., (AW-TC) was established in 1999 as an overseas subsidiary of Aisin AW Co. to research and develop automatic transmissions and vehicle navigation systems for the auto industry. AW-TC has four locations in North America: Ann Arbor, MI focusing on the R&D of automatic transmission systems; Plymouth, MI and Plano, TX focusing on vehicle information systems, and an advanced engineering research facility in San Jose, CA.
We are seeking a full-time Automotive Validation Technician for our office in Plymouth, Michigan. As a leading telematics supplier, our focus is on developing, designing, and supporting products to exceed our user expectations. Software validation testing is an integral part of the software development lifecycle.
In this role you will be responsible for assisting in the testing of next generation telematics projects in a team-oriented environment. Other essential functions include:
  • Execute tests in accordance with established testing protocols to ensure quality and compliance with stated requirements
  • Work closely with Validation Engineers to report found problem and validity and reproducibility
  • Verify software fixes and code changes in new software versions
  • Install / un-install head unit / test hardware equipment onto / from vehicle/bench rack
  • Test drive locally or remotely with fellow specialists. In this role, you are expected to travel and stay on-site for the duration of projects. Some test drives include international travel.
  • Supports client testing activities representing as a supplier during joint evaluation projects.
Qualified candidates will have 3+ years of related work experience, and a High School Diploma or GED. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Other requirements include:
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Must possess personal or professional demonstrated technical aptitude ensuring effective performance of the essential functions of this job description
  • Executing test cases/check sheets and reporting results to a defect tracking system
  • Automotive electronics installation/troubleshooting experience. MECP certification is a plus.
  • Regression testing. Problem reproduction trial.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and to exercise sound independent judgment
  • Experience with Lexus/Toyota navigation systems.
  • Comfortable working in a multi- language/culture environment
  • Willingness to learn more about software development and engineering practices.
  • Ability to travel occasionally
A valid driver’s license with clean record.
